Was the first person to get the set from the Manchester store, pity the key chains and stationary sets were not on sale in store. But can't wait to get building.

Speaking of which, did anyone see the latest Tree house of horror episode? I thought it was terrible and a real letdown considering how much i love those episodes.

I think part of the problem is im used to seeing all of the intricate detailing on the modulars, and to me the outside is just a big square house, which is what it looks like in the simpsons, but to me it just somehow looks bad :/

Dont think it so much the way its been designed but just the fact that Lego isnt the best medium for recreating it, it just looks amateurish

Guess ill stop commenting on this thread now though, i feel like ive made my point clear that i dont like it!

I was at the Lego store today and saw the Simpsons house display and I was surprised at the size, it is bigger than I expect I do not think the videos and pictures do it justice. FYI I did buy it today but do plan on buying it in the next week or so. I think that the TLG did a great job with the sculpts and I know that my kids though they range in ages from 3-7 and don't know the Simpsons would love to play with it..To bad I won't let them ;-)

My wife has been building the set since last night, and we're both amazed how cool it is. There's a ton of detail in each room and it looks like a really fun build.

The latest Tree house horror episode certainly wasn't the best, but I find the obvious love and care that are put into those episodes to make them worth watching. Between the sets and the upcoming Simpsons CMF line (along with all the great suggestions here for possible future sets) I can see some truly awesome MOCs in years to come.

Hahaha! Well, it is more that with a 9 month old I doubt I'll have time to build it anytime soon. So if the prices skyrocket over the next month, assuming it is still sealed, I might as well sell.

This all said, I still haven't sold the 10212s I picked up because you all collectively convinced me it was a "can't miss" proposition.

In all likelihood, the set gets opened in two weekends during a nap and gets built very slowly over the next three months. (Ewok Village took two . . . .)

I am actually getting very excited about collecting the entire Simpsons line. I can't even remember the last entire line TLG released that I wanted to collect every set and minifig. Playmates destroyed the collectibility of their Simpsons line so hopefully TLG will keep their sets to a minimum.

That's not too bad a price for licensed minifigs. Depending on the distribution and characters of course. I know some people are trying to flip the set minifigs at $20-25 each, but I cannot see the main characters being left out of the cmf series. Alternative versions no doubt, but present none the less.

I plan to treat it like the star wars line and just buy what I like and not everything that comes along.

If I had to guess the license covers the house and the 16 mini figures. However I would be willing to bet that LEGO has an option of some sort to continue the license further if sales warrant it

Speaking of the Simpson's house, my wife ordered one and then another one under her same account for my brother's wife(because she wasn't a VIP member and couldn't get one without already making a purchase to be a VIP member) I didn't even realize that there was a limit of one until right now.. I thought it was 2.. I do see that it is one now though...

I was at the (sort of) local store over the weekend picking up some things for my kids.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this set in the store and, after all of 90-seconds of peering over the box, gleefully passed over it. I'm all for TLG extending into new properties, but this one just seems like a miss to me.

I saw it yesterday at the store as well, picked it up, looked it over, showed it to the wife and kids...

My 5 year old daughter liked it, but then she likes anything that looks like a doll house, doesn't mean it is right for her.

I put it back.

Strangely enough, the box is big and heavily enough, it probably is priced right, while $40 more than PR, it "feels" heavier (I didn't weigh them both), and it sure is a bigger box.

But somehow, it feels expensive next to PR. Had it been $159 like PR, I'd probably have picked it up, but at $200? Meh, another house to put on the shelf.

Some day, when someone offers a discount or deal or gift card or free set to go with it, I may get it.

And if not, as impressed with it as I am, I can also pass. It just doesn't fit anything else.

After the first reviews my decision to buy it hasn't changed. But I guess this is going to be my Christmas/Birthday present from my parents and grandparents this/next year. (Sets that make me feel bad about spending so much money often end up as presents so it makes me feel better about them).

2 years. Obviously if it is successful they will renew the license. Plenty of material. Something has to fill the Spongebob void!

^^ Still In Process here as well. Their supply, ordering, fulfillment systems I think need some major work. Ordered day one when first available and is still 'In Process' after 3 days but I received my Curiosity Rover 3 or 4 days after ordering when I ordered during the brief time that it was in stock again after the initial sell out.

Had a look at this in the Bluewater store today, looks good and the figures don't appear as horrendous in person, but... it did look quite small, especially next to the Orthanc tower which is cheaper and even the Horizon Express is an equivalent volume when complete. One wonders how many new Afols etc. will ultimately be attracted to the hobby by it? Its nice, but not quite £180 nice for what is otherwise quite a bland house.

^ Yep, that was rather my in person impression. The first pictures of the box were exciting, but after that wore off, it was less impressive.

Too expensive for a bland house.

^^^^^ Mine still says "In Process" - even though I received it today. Not sure what it is, but I still have orders I've received dating from the 26th December that still say in process - so something's gone wrong over Christmas I guess.

Clicking on the order number *should* reveal the tracking number though, that'll tell you it's been shipped

^ Time-lapse point of view of watching someone build the set is IMO a waste of effort. If you're going to go through the work to make one make it about watching the set come together. Can't even really see what pieces are going where as it is built in that video due to angle etc.

Thanks for the side-by-side pics... yep, that is the difference all right. That being said, the Simpsons House is clearly more dense and I think the box is heavier, but for $40 more...

I'll take the PR any day of the week, just my personal opinion.

I started on Friday night and I think I'm about 5 and a half hours in so far. I only "came back" to Lego about 18 months ago, and from my limited experience (#10220 the VW Van, #10231 Shuttle, #10230 Mini Modulars and #10233 Horizon Express) I can say that it's not been the most challenging build for the most part, but it's been really fun. Plenty of interesting little techniques and fun bits along the way to keep me smiling.

While the Simpsons House is below the level of the details of the PR, I was surprised at how detailed it was. From the hot/cold shower knob to the way the shelves in the kids room are filled or the open drawer on Bart's desk.
I also like how it can "lock" in the closed position, something that the HH could have benefited.

PR and the Simpsons House is apples and oranges. Before the price of the house was released, you guys were all guessing $220-250. It comes out at $200 and all of a sudden it's overpriced?

For me, it's all about the source material...not always best bang for my buck. If I prefer Star Wars, I'll get Ewok Village instead of Orthanc...even if its $50 more. Simple as that.

There is $37 in Ebay and Paypal fees there not to mention about $20 to ship it...

They are most likely using stolen credit card info to purchase them (either by [email protected] or in the stores). Nobody in their right mind is going to sell them that low when they have to pay taxes, fees and shipping.
