An exclusive Burns Manor would be awesome.

    Release the hounds.

And the bees. And the dogs with bees in their mouth.

(That was Simpsons, right? Sometimes my pop culture cred slips.)

^ Yeah that was the episode called "Burns' Heir"

THEY STOPPED IT BEFORE THE BEST PART.

Is this set definitely available to VIPs tomorrow? Do you just turn up to the store with your VIP card and asks for one? I'm guessing that they won't be on the shelves.

@historyman, yes it will be, my store manager confirmed it.

As far as I am concerned this is a must buy for a couple of reasons. It's exclusive and part of the great "Americana".

At the end of the day I have big ideas for this set. It's a great house in and of itself. Take away the figs and the miscellaneous items that add to the uniqueness and you have a quintessential house that can be added to my modular block.

Anyone know if we can buy this online or is it just in store tomorrow? For VIP's?
  • jediami65jediami65 Member Posts: 474
So is this an unannounced early VIP access? I had only seen February 17th on the calendar as an early access date.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
Yeah this seems all out of the blue to me. Although maybe it is in stores only who knows. I'll check online tomorrow but that's all I can do.
  • Zeldafanatic15Zeldafanatic15 Member Posts: 106
Apparently stores got a memo that this can be sold tomorrow to VIP members, so it was an unannounced and last minute thing. I forgot to check my store, but I assume they're selling it tomorrow, although they may sell out before I can get there.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
That's nice. Really nice.... Perhaps I need to call in sick and drive 1.5 hours to the closest store?

Feb 17th is Sea Cow, the big LEGO Movie ship set.

  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
Would love to order it (US), but "Add to Bag" does not add it to the bag. D'oh!
  • joel4motionjoel4motion Member Posts: 959
Bought from UK [email protected] so all good there....

Its also on display at a few shops apparently so I cant see them only selling to VIPs in store.

Unfortunately I have to wait as I'm not willing to part with $330. With a bit of luck I should be able to get it for 20% - 30% off once stores in Australia stock it.

    @DavidBrickley
    Working now. Just ordered.
  • st3ph3nst3ph3n Member Posts: 10
To answer my own question - yes it is. Just picked mine up from the Glasgow store. One built in a case in the middle of the store, with 4 or 5 stacked up behind it to buy.

In for one. They have some of the clearance merch down to 50% off, so easy way to get free shipping on a few things too. Anyone know how long the Decorating the Tree poly has been sold out or did it just go this am?

Just got an email from Lego that this is available now for VIPs, early access at least in the US.

My wife just surprised me by ordering the set! I wasn't even going to ask her about it till we saw it in the store, and she ordered it with out saying anything about it. :)
  • Zeldafanatic15Zeldafanatic15 Member Posts: 106
Got that email too. Will head to our local Lego store once my wife gets off work. Hopefully they'll have some.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
I called my LEGO store, they can put one aside per person but only until tonight.

Am visiting the Sheffield store tomorrow but am still undecided whether to get it. Will be interested to know how much stock there is.

Wish it was the Sea Cow that was available tomorrow. Would be all over it like a donkey on a waffle.

I want it, I want it, however, just after a modular Christmas where I Santa was good enough to give me 3 of them, can I justify £180 to the wife so soon after? My AFOL mind says go for it, she'll never know, and my "adult" mind is saying she will when she sees the credit card bill, not to mention when my children go bananas!

Shame it looks more accurate from the back than the front, the front side of the roof shouldve been the same as the back and came out further.

@richo Full stand of them in the middle of the Sheffield store today - I reckon there were about 6 or 7 of them (the box is surprisingly large, so it didn't take many to fill the stand). Not sure if they've got any more out back. but I'd wager there'll be one available for you tomorrow if you do decide to bite the bullet.

We turned up just as the display model was going in the window, so were lucky enough to be given a chance to look at the inside - I think it's a great looking set. I've said in another thread that I was pleasantly surprised by the minifigures too; I was unsure after seeing the online pictures, but I don't think they've done the characters any justice.

Anyway, roll on pay day so I can actually afford to buy one!

Tigard store had 70 in stock total, still plenty left. they are limiting it to one per person on this shipment. Told me they already had two different people wanting to reserve 10 or more.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ ten is clearly for resale. I wonder if a good policy on exclusives and popular sets likely to quickly sell out, would be to limit to one per person for an initial period before moving to the standard 5 you see quoted on the website?
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
^ Believe it or not, I totally think that is the right call. On a set like The Simpsons, for the first 30 days, 1 per customer is perfectly reasonable.

Once it has been out awhile and stock levels are plenty, then let people buy as many as they want.

already saw someone posted on CL, $350, is this a joke?
  • CheekaCheeka Member Posts: 236
Probably not - I've seen such wide ranging appeal for this set, from BBC news to facebook friends with little to no knowledge of Lego, there are bound to be buyers who will pay over the odds simply because they're not familiar with Lego, let alone RRP or the VIP program. And so it follows, there are always going to be those willing to take the bet on finding someone not 'in the know'.

Anyone know if this is falling under the 'LEGO Exclusive' umbrella with no discounts to be applied? It does not follow the exclusive numbering (e.g. 10xxx)
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
#31313 and #21050 we also on the exclusive/no discount list, so more like a flagship of a theme rather than 10xxx
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,419
@Nelly, I asked at my store and the assistant manager told me this is a D2C (direct to consumer) set so it is considered an exclusive and cannot be discounted.

Just got home from getting ours. This box is huge, and I've never held a heavier set before.

LOL.. My wife came downstairs this morning after getting ready for work and I told her the Simpson's set was up on Lego Shop at home and she said "Yeah, I seen it on my phone, I am going to order it when I get to work"

    She's the set builder.. :)

I am just excited to see it...

Picked it up after work. Going to build it now. Never been a Simpsons fan and haven't seem an episode in years, but the set is all kinds of awesome and reasonably priced.

Simpsons Lego just got a shout-out on BBC Breakfast news, as one of the papers (didn't catch which one) has an article about it, entitled "Leg-d'oh" :-)
