Season 12, episode 16. Bye Bye Nerdie
That's the only thing that makes me hope/wonder...
A licence like this is mostly going to attract adults, not kids. Those of us who remember watching The Simpsons in the early years... guess what... we're all grown up!
I would have had no interest in some dinky little 600 part house, waste of time. THIS on the other hand, I will buy and proudly display.
This is what adult fans want, something that does justice to 25 years of one of the most amazing shows in TV history.
From Wikipedia:
Since its debut on December 17, 1989, the show has broadcast 538 episodes and the 25th season began on September 30, 2013. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American primetime, scripted television series. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed over $527 million.
A 2,500+ part version of the house only does justice to the source material, which deserves this treatment more than most other licensed material, perhaps Star Wars being the sole exception.
Everyone's eyes make me angry. Why do they all look so stupid? If they all just had normal eyes they'd be fine. I'm guessing the CMFs will have normal eyes?
You're right!
What episode was that? I can't remember.
But looks great, it is the simpsons house, done at a decent scale. I'll be getting it at some point
I know there is only so much you can do with the limits of the lego brick compared to a cartoon drawing but still...
For a start the roof seems way too short compared to the real one, and overall the house is too tall and narrow, it should be short and wider.
and a few other things that are noticeably wrong.
Hate being a moaner but the more i look at the real house the worse the Lego model looks :(
Saying that though I do love this set, it's much better than I expected. I was gonna pass on this theme but having seen this I have to get it.
As for the colour, I believe it changed. It was originally pink but it's definately more of a tan colour these days. Maybe they had it painted.
HH is a completely different theme with a different audience, so i dont think so.
I'm looking forward to displaying 742 Evergreen Terrace in my home theatre room.
Looking at this box, the "Floorplan" view in the upper right does make it look like the floors and roof separate! But they might just be separated for the purpose of photography — I don't see any obvious tile layers on the house's outer wall in the front-of-box pic.
The interior seems to have lots of fantastic detail. The roof had better lift up or something to allow better bathroom access, though. It looks like there's some detail there that would be impossible to appreciate if all you get is a 1x4x6 doorway for access. I have a feeling that the roof will lift up, though, because if the bathroom is difficult to access Bart's bedroom is downright impossible, placed as it is behind Lisa's room with the only door opening to the hallway.
Lots of lovely cartoon colors in the interior, as well as dollhouse-style details like the couch and TV that are familiar to me even as someone who has never watched an episode of the Simpsons in full. The piano is another nice detail.
In terms of minifigure accessories, Marge's vacuum cleaner is a very clever design!
P.S. I still think the minifigs look horrible. Then again, I'm biased against any minifig that uses custom molded head pieces.
I do like the size of the set. It will be in the "to buy" line behind the restaurant, cinema, tower, opera house, etc.
I feel pretty confident this will be $250.
This isn't for me, though. It doesn't feel much like LEGO. Particularly on the interior, where the designer(s) went overboard with concealing studs. It even looks like they put tiles all over the floors. Looking at the interior, there is little that makes me instantly get that LEGO look and feeling. More like a Mattel/Hasbro dollhouse. The characters make that feeling even worse.
Maybe I'm just a fuddydud, but this just doesn't do it for me even though I'm in their target AFOL demographic. I'd have much more fun with a smaller, more LEGO-like playset.
I didn't even think to ask about release date I'm afraid. I can pop back later in the week though...
Can see me buying for the house/bricks and selling the figures on
-Homer and Flanders are decent. Lego what happened to Marge, Bart, Lisa and you think Maggie is taller than half of the front door?
-The car looks odd, it don't look right but the house is what you are really paying for: The exterior is perfect I was expecting something like Tower of Orthanc or Arkham Asylum were the backs are open. It actually looks like a dolls house were is has a hinge opening and the interior is good from what I can see but does look odd from some spaces.
-As for the price: I would like it to be £140-170 but maybe we just haven't seen enough yet. Sadly it looks like its going to be £200+
Can't wait to see more Lego Simpsons sets and the designer video for this set. I will have some doughnuts while I wait!!
The set will retail US $199.99 - CA $229.99 - DE 199.99€ - UK £179.99 - DK 1,699.00 DKK
