Batman minfig from Funhouse vs minifig from Catcycle Chase

Don't know if this was posted before. I've just received a few minifigs from Funhouse and noticed the batman headgear is Headgear Mask Batman Type 2 (Angular Ears, Pronounced Brow). According to Bricklink this one shouldn't exist in any sets, the only dark blue headgears are standard.

So I've checked agains my Funhouse set and I have the same type 2 headgear in the set as well. But I've checked around for pics and the headgear appears to be the standard one, the same one from the Catcycle set. Can anyone clarify this?

I have attached two pics.

I just opened one of my funhouse sets purchased a couple weeks ago and sure enough it does have a type 2 mask. The boxart shows the type 1 mask on the front and side shot of the actual figure.

My other figure I bought online (Bricklink) has type 1 but mixups on the headgear is quite common when buying through online sources. These small differences in parts are often not differentiated with most sellers as it takes a lot more work and knowledge to keep up with the small variations. It can get frustrating as a collector who wants the correct part since the only difference between the 2 figures is the mask.

In the early production runs of the 2012 sets, LEGO used the bigger cowl piece. In later runs they used the smaller one, with no differentiation between the two parts on LEGO's end.

This should be submitted on BL as an alternate, as it's quite a relevant variation really.

I agree, it's basically the same as the black version sh16/sh16a which came in both versions at different times with set #6864.
