    Actually, at Walmart you always get the current selling price at the store you're returning it to, so it doesn't matter if the item was ever on sale.

    You'll get a gift card back for your refund.

    One of the interesting things to watch over the next year is how the lack of a nationwide 50% off after x-mas clearance at Walmart will affect the price for sets that retired this year.

    Success! Well, at least partially. A LUGmate called last night to tell me that the WM Super Center near us (Monona, WI) had marked down some stuff. Ran out this morning to check it out.

    Galaxy Squad, a few of the Chima battle sets, and the Goblin King Battle were the only things at 50%. Picked up the last Jabba's Palace at $75. The other stuff doesn't interest me parts-wise, so I didn't buy any. Tons of Unexpected Gatherings left at RRP, so I'm hoping they will eventually get hit with the clearance gun.

    My local target had a bunch of 20% off signs, but I did not pay attention to what was discounted...not enough of a savings to warrant my time. I am glad, actually...too many sets are being released in the next week that I am eager to get my hands on.

    Probably going to return the set 4 a refund and give mom the refund then she will pay for the cost of a thunder wings on the lego site when I go to do my order online for a few other items.

    Or maybe i'll keep GSSI. Been debating on it.

    Some disturbing news from my Walmart. All of the items that should have been clearanced disappeared today and there are empty spaces on the shelves where they were supposed to be. There are boxes of 2014 product with "do not put in shelf before December 29 2013" on the floor, so they are doing a reset. I asked what happened to the old product and was told it was all being sent back to the distribution center...

    It's quite odd- #6860 appears to have disappeared from almost everywhere pretty quickly. It even disappeared from TRU. Shop@Home states it will be back in stock in 30 days. I wonder if Shop@Home will actually get them back in stock?

    It was supposed to ship early January and now is getting pushed back. Amazon and WMT stock before Christmas went quickly...we'll see.

    ^ Yea, I'm up in the air with #6860. It seems like it will be back, but yes, it vanished quickly from everywhere.

    Was it resellers buying them all up, or was stock thin everywhere?

    That set was on sale a lot for 2 years, I was not in a rush to buy at full RRP when it wasn't certain that it was going out (and I don't play the "buy and return later" games)

    6860 is listed as retired on S@H europe and asia. If the US / Canada does get a next shipment it will be the last.

    Lame. the closest walmart around here last year did a lego aisle clear out(not even that big an area to start with), did a start of the year clearance, and left the shelves close to half empty of actual lego and mega bloks stuff(they share the area) until SEPTEMBER(no I am not making this up).

    Then this year i saw no new clearance at the second closest. Lego aisle was in a pretty big need of clean up.

    No clue on the closest walmart but will be going soon

    ^ I could, but the challenge is that if tax is added, then shipping, then something for you (I don't expect you to make me a profit for free), then is it really worth doing?

    Just curious, but how many are we talking about here?

    i saw 4. probably too small of quantity for you :). i am not registered as tax exempt hence i have to pay the tax while buying unless you send me yours to use :). i am not a big seller... neither big collector...

    ^ You're right, 4 isn't worth the time or trouble for me to do it, but frankly, you'll make $50 a copy within a year, if you have the means, go buy them. :)

    Unless you don't even want to get into it. That will be the hardest part for me, passing up "deals" once I finally get out of LEGO. I'm the type of person that is either all in, or all out. If I start buying "a few" deals, sooner or later I'll end up with enough that my wife says, "it's the LEGO or me". :)

    And that's just a bad idea...

    This will likely be the last batcave ever done in lego. If you think you may want one I would purchase one now if you can. These disappeared unexpectedly in europe and asia and there are not alot of supplies in the USA which means this time next year your choice will be the original at $4XX or 6860 at $2XX.

    btw, just to enunciate. i am not looking to profit on this one. if anyone wants a copy and is willing to cover the cost { 69.97+tax+shipping+paypal fee], i can pick up and do the leg work. its for the batcave #6860.

    #6860 clearanced out at the three nearest Walmarts around me back around August/September. I got 2 at 30% off before they all disappeared. Sold the minifigs from the second one and was able to build a pretty decent Batcave MOC. It's got a decent selection of dark blue, including those supports. Good set when discounted IMO.

    I bought a few #6860's at retail just to have in case they appreciate significantly. Many, if not most, Walmarts in Orange County have them in stock.

    If you have any Fredmeyers around, my local store had the GS Galactic titan for 49.99$, there were none to be found in stock though. Might be worth checking.

    Check out your local Meijer's stores if you have them. Many SW, TLR, City, Superhero, and others for 20-30% off. For example, Jabba's Sail Barge for $89.99, TLR Stagecoach for $22.49, and Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout for $37.49.

    ^ My local Meijer also had almost all of their LOTR/Hobbit sets on clearance. Helm's Deep for ~$98, Goblin King for $50, Weathertop for $45, Black Gate for $45, Mines of Moria for $40, Warg Attack for $25, and Uruk-Hai Army for ~$23.

    If you're looking for Helicarriers, you should check out Target. I have found about 30 copies at Target over the past week for $42. A bit more than I had hoped to pay for them, but well worth it given the current going price for the set.

    My Targets are cleared out of all Superheros unfortunately. So this set is way out of my reach.

    Yeah, Unimog and Logging truck were sold out online and in the stores around me. Was tempted to get the Excavator but passed on it.

    No luck with Meijer so far. Gotta hit some other stores.
    Kroger has not much sale other than brick and more blue/pink box with a figure for $12. I ended up got some barbie and iron man figures for less than $3 each. They were about 75-80% off. Should be interesting..

    Walmart nearest me (East Lansing, MI) had the scientist and his monster for $35, as well as Vermin Vaporizer and Batmobile/Two-face for $40 each.
