    Tomorrow?

Ugg, today is the day I have time to go over there, but if they won't honor it tonight, blah...
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
Yeah, starts tomorrow according to the e-mail.

I think I'll check it out tomorrow. Double Rewards points tomorrow too.

The only thing I'd be interested in is Forest Ambush. Last time I was in the store, it was priced $12.99. TRU.com is showing the 'regular' price as $14.99, so I'm guessing the stores will have raised it for the sale...

#70703 is a TRU exclusive - hopefully that will be around $22.50

Did anyone make it over to find out about these? Somehow they did not send me this email yet. I will most likely stop by after work and see what's up.

Yes, did get the #70703 Star Slicer for $22.50. Didn't check the others.

^ & ^^ Went to a couple of TRUs this morning to look for #70400. Only one had the 50% sale signs up. The other did not have any signs, but the items did scan correctly ($7.49).

9496 Desert Skiff was $17.49. not 50% off.
A few small Super Heroes sets were $10. ($13 sets that TRU marks up to $16.99)
Also, plenty of Tonto Campfires and Lake Town Guards.

^ I think that is 50% off their regular price.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
My store had a huge pile of #4630 in the center of an aisle, marked 50% off ($40). They also had #9496 advertised 50% off, but the normal price was $35, so I passed (I could swear it was $30 last time I was there). I didn't see any of the other sets but didn't specifically look for them, either.

My TRU only had a few of the #4200 Mining 4x4 and 1 #70400 and new Tonto Campfires. No Lake Town Guards and a few overpriced Disney and new Friends sets. Seems like TRU has a left brain, right brain, pull-pull dilemma on pricing. This TRU has all their Lone Ranger stuff out on endcaps saying "SALE TODAY ONLY". So I scanned the Constitution Train because it said it was priced $129.99 to see if by chance it was still 50% off...nope...now $134.99 on sale for $109.99. TLR Mine..$99.99 on sale for $79.99

I stopped in and saw a guy stocking the Thanksgiving Turkey polybag. Kinda cute, so I ask about it, then he showed me the Lego Movie minifigs! He said they can't sell them yet. They finally had the town guard Hobbit polybag too.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
^Glad to see they are getting ahead for next Thanksgiving. Birdbrains.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
^ & ^^ - My TRU still has hundreds of the Halloween Witch on pegs in the Lego section. And they're marked up to $6.99... Can't wait til they add the turkeys!

Didn't want to create a new thread, but there is an OK deal available on the "Retiring Soon" from [email protected] and TRU exclusive #4207. It is $91 (RRP 119.99), if you combine for example with two #30216, you end up paying 75.98+tx (after the $25 off)
I have #4207 for store pickup, so no messy shipping...

They also have the #30186 christmas tree in stock.. is anyone else having an issue trying to check out? I hit submit order and get dumped to the cart again.

I tried to cancel my previous orders for City Garage (where I bought 2 in one order), but apparently once an order is confirmed, it can't be cancelled. Oh well, maybe I'll just return them.

Nevermind.. funky browser or TRU thing, had to re-enter my billing address even though it was already there... strange.

So if you get the 4207 Garage and 3 30186 christmas tree polybags it is 77.97 before tax.

In case anyone is still looking for those

I did a combo with the cavalry builder, which is 10.99 right now.

Almost anything that is about $10 or so will allow you to get the $25 off...

I've used this as a chance to pickup some $20 sets that I otherwise would wait to find on sale. Combined here, I don't mind paying regular price on a $20 set, it's like getting it for free. :)

Wasn't sure if this was worth starting a new thread...

I just got an email from TRU with a $10 e-gift card apologizing for cancelling part/all of one of the orders I had recently placed. The funniest part is that the order number they cited was from November 2012.

    Dear Real Name,

Thank you for the recent order XXXXX you placed at Toysrus.com. Due to the overwhelming response we’ve had this holiday season, we were unable to fulfill all or part of your order, and we apologize for any inconvenience we’ve caused. We regret missing this opportunity to help you make their Christmas wishes come true.

You may have already received an email concerning your order, but we wanted to reach out and offer you the $10.00 savings code shown below as a token of our sincere apologies. You can use this code on your next online or in store purchase, now through January 31, 2014.

    Promo Code: XXXXXXX

For online purchases, enter the promotional code at checkout. In store, either bring a printout of this email or show this email on your mobile device to the cashier at time of checkout. ^ That is nuts...

Target recently canceled 2 of my orders and they reached out to me and gave me a $25 gift card for the pair of cancellations.

It is a nice gesture and it is something I'll remember long after the $25 is spent.

Amazon might want to think about offering this, they have canceled a few of my orders recently due to lack of stock (I bought one of the last of something they had) and they didn't offer me anything.

Of course, they don't owe me anything, they didn't do anything wrong, never charged my card, so it's fine. But against both TRU and Target doing this, it now stands out in a way it didn't before.

I had purchased almost nothing from TRU for a year, as I type this, I'm placing a few orders on their site...

They have put themselves back on the radar... of course they have to make a profit, so if they give away the store, nothing has really changed, they'll still go out of business, but they were going in that direction anyway.

Hopefully they figure it out and buy a clue, we need them around for competitions sake. :)

Thanks @ColoradoBricks for the #4207 tip. My kid needed Michelangelo and Krang Lab was actually at RRP!

I'm kind of a stickler for net price per piece, that more or less drives all my buying decisions. 6c a piece plus $1 per minifig is my benchmark. At $77 for 1002 pieces and 9 minifigs, that combo was a little shy of the mark, but I really wanted those white beams in the garage set. A full-price set would have pushed the deal further away from my comfort zone.

Oh please! We know that you're all about the deal so it really doesn't matter who and where the next deal is, you'll be first in line.

^ For what it is worth, I'm taking that post as lighthearted kidding rather than as a real rebuke. Sometimes words on the Internet come across in ways that aren't intended so I'm choosing the nicer possible option. :)

Yes, the deal does matter, but frankly you have to be playing the game to even get looked at and for a while there, TRU wasn't even invited to play.

It took some pretty good deals a month ago to get my attention and draw me back. My point is that they don't have to give away the fort to keep me, but that sometimes it is the little gestures that make things better.

Like the fact that TRU still sucks at getting orders 100% correct when they ship, I have 2 more mistakes to deal with and call them about, that makes 5 total this month.

    Amazon and Target? Zero

    TRU? Five

Not cool, do that enough times and the "deals" aren't worth it. The "we made a mistake" gift cards help a lot towards softening the hurt. :)

Looking at TRU from wall street's point of view, they are in trouble verging on doomed. TRU NEEDED to have this many discounts to post a strong Q4 sales number and restore some modicum of investor confidence. Likewise Barnes & Noble.
