Capes, Robes and Sails

If I were to look into making custom capes, robes, sails and flags etc for my lego builds.

What material should I be looking to use? what is the durable canvas type called that Lego use?

Thanks

I'm too lazy to type it all out, so you'll have to read it here :-)

after a quick google. (and reading what was said on the link provided, got me headed in the right direction)

'PU Coated material/fabric' seems to provide what looks to be a good option. I'll do a guinea pig run and order a small bit.

I bought some fabric before to mess around with making custom sails and capes before. I used broadcloth I bought at a fabric store, but apparently they come in different variations of stitching and not sure which I got. Then applied acrylic matte medium (watered down) to the cloth and was able to print on it. I could never get the feel right, or the stiffness for that matter but it looks really similar, its only when you touch it that you notice it's not the same. I'm still interested in trying again so if you find a combination that works let me know!

You can buy custom / fake capes on eBay. Even the best ones feel and look different to genuine ones.
