I would be delighted with a LEGO Indiana Jones revival. I loved the original sets but thought that there was room for more.

Cool. But I wonder how they will handle the transition to a new actor. There's no one that comes to mind that can bring the same swagger and charisma as Harrison Ford in the role. And no, Shia LeBeouf is not it.

I was listening to NPR news on the radio at 5:00 and it stated that Disney had begun the process to create a 5th film since they had gained the rights.

I love Harrison Ford and really wish more could have been done with him, but frankly, if they create a new trilogy, they need to find a new Indiana...

Maybe a reboot, perhaps go back to the start of his career, but move that forward to the end of the cold war...

How about Nathan Fillion (who played the captain in Firefly)?

I think people want Nathan Fillion in everything.. especially bringing back Firefly altogether. But that is an interesting pick and I can see it, he has the right mix of swashbuckler with comedic timing. The issue I see is I do not think Nathan is really that young anymore (like Ford wasn't, I know). I think if you are going to reboot it, then you have to do it with a younger actor and not move it forward but backward and reboot it completely. I think in any case you will not please all the fans.

I get all that... but you need someone who isn't "too young", or it looks silly. Indiana works because he is experienced and knows something about archaeology. A new kid fresh out of school wouldn't.

What might be nice is to have someone around 30 who an "older" Indiana played by Ford takes under his wing and "teaches him the trade", have it be a transition movie to the newer generation.

^ Well they did elude to Shea Labeouf taking the reins so they could do a new trilogy that way. While he doesn't necessarily have to come back as the character they have the story line for a new Indiana already in place.

How about Ben Affleck?...oh wait...he will be too busy ruining Batman. I still think Jon Hamm from Mad Men would have been the perfect Batman. Nathan Fillion would be good for Indy.

If they go with the character portrayed by Labeouf, then the change from whip to knife kind of ruins it for me. Benedict Cumberbatch would make a great villian. Anyway, hoping for a reboot...

Oh yeah...maybe Disney will bring back Firefly while they're at it!

After the last Indy movie, why would anyone be looking forward to another? They've done enough damage to this franchise. "Nuke the fridge" has become a euphemism for laughable Hollywood plotting. But if it leads to a flood of LEGO Indy sets, I'm in.

Hollywood itself is laughable. From the actors, directors producers, etc........ Hollywood is a disgusting turd of vomit. That said....I would love to see another movie if it means more Lego sets.

The nuking of the fridge aside, I actually quite liked the 4th Indy movie... Much more than the terrible Temple of Doom, which is more or less unwatchable...

The first and the third are the best, the fourth is ok, hate the second...

Just wish so much time hadn't passed between 3 and 4, another movie or two in there would have been nice.

I thought Disney *already* had the rights to the Indy franchise, as part of the deal with Lucas; everyone focused on Star Wars, but I thought they'd bought all of LucasFilm's catalogue (including Indy).

Anyway, as much as I love Harrison Ford (he *is* Indy), was rather disappointed with the fourth film... a re-boot (and re-casting) may be the way to go...

Really? :-/ Temple of Doom is the weakest of the original trilogy but only by the process of elimination, I still have a soft spot for it. But Raiders and The Last Crusade are a step above, certainly. I can't bring myself to consider Crystal Skull as canonical.

I think Indiana Jones is even more problematic than Star Wars in terms of doing more films. For Star Wars, you don't HAVE to have Han, Luke and Leia (although I fear that idiot Abrams can't think past that notion), whereas Indiana Jones is obviously contingent upon the character... who many feel IS Harrison Ford.

I think for Indy, especially, you have to recognize that rebooting or recasting is going to necessarily isolate a huge portion of your audience and just focus on bringing in new fans who may be less familiar with the franchise.

In terms of LEGO sets, I only collected the original trilogy sets to begin with, so if they do sprinkle some of those in, I always felt that the big misses the first time around came from the Canyon of the Crescent Moon... specifically the Mark VII and the Temple of the Sun. If I could just get those two sets (and Donovan, Marcus and Sallah), I'd be elated.

Indeed, I cannot picture another Indy, especially not some young actor.

Still, I could never imagine getting used to Cumberbatch as Holmes, when the icon for me was Cushing, but after the first episode I found it perfectly fine. If they change the setting I could probably go along with a different Indy.

I do not think Indy needs lens flare and rapid camera movements.
yknow, Indy has reportedly romanced a lot of women, it is not hard to write in someone else to fill Indy shoes, and can make for more comedic fodder between him and Marian

Remember the Big Bang episode where they ruin Raiders of the Lost Ark for Sheldon? They tell him the whole movie would have ended the same way with Indy or without him.

I doubt Son of Indy would be very popular. Would need to be a full reboot I think, maybe a bit younger. Would love to have seen a Fate of Atlantis movie to be honest.

Not sure where this thread is going in a lego way though, Disney might release a new movie and there might be a lego licence.

Bit too fuzzy for my liking, were the Indy sets popular? If its a reboot they'd surely be based on a new trilogy, rather than the old ones.

My understanding is that the Indy sets just slightly predate the boom in LEGO overall sales. They missed me anyway, they were gone when I came back in Dec 2010.

Would I go for new ones? Sure, if they did a HH sized set, but the kiddie sets? Naa, no interest.

The Indy sets were released around the end of my "dark ages" period. I came real close to buying the Flying Wing set. But not close enough. That is an awesome scene in the movie too.

I didn't like the "nuked" refrigerator, but I did like the scene. Nuketown, I loved it.

I wish there were more movies as well. I don't think there needs to be Harrison Ford playing Indy, although he does have a son, but LeBeouff annoys me. Ford can play the role Sean Connery did in future films.

Basically the best things about the Indy sets were the vehicles (which I may have said once or twice before. Or three or four or maybe more times...). I hadn't even seen the Indy films when the sets came out, but I certainly wanted the realistic German trucks from the set with the Ark, and the tan-coloured speedster from the Shanghai chase one.
I think it's because the most recognisable and easily recreatable things from the films are the characters and vehicles (much like Star Wars, and unlike Harry Potter and LotR, where it is easier to make recognisable buildings/mythical animals).
Which, hopefully, portends for another round of accurate-ish 1920s-50s vehicles in Lego sets if we see anything at all.

I was ok with Crystal Skull up until the goofy scene in the jungle where the Russian soldiers are dancing around the campfire. Then Marion shows up and we have to listen to their family squabble. Strange Alien mind meld with Indy and so on. From there on the movie kinda sucks. If they would have just stuck with Indy and his son going on an adventure together without the family drama it could have been a better movie.

I regret missing out on the Indy sets. There were a few great ones IMO. I did pick up an incomplete Temple Escape. I think it was a nice, complete set for $60.
