After two weeks of nothing in my "Quick Picks", the exclusive from my favorite theme appeared with a 5% discount. Very interesting. I'm being vague here, hoping that this stays under the radar. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Lightning Deal or Gold Box Quick Picks ?
  • klatu003klatu003 Member Posts: 729
^My personal Quick Picks. When added to the cart, it says "Lightning Deal" and I get an hour to decide. So it is YMMV.

Probably acceptable as 5% discounts are available else where such as target red card and Lego VIP program.

I know some don't consider the VIP program as a discount but I'm not interested in splitting hairs over that.

I had #10229 WVC in my quick picks multiple times for 5% off, but as @sweetness34 said, I preferred to take them as VIP points

I'm not biting, since I already picked this wonderful set up the day it was released under the old 10% coupon deal. :-) Plus, 3x VIP would have been a better bet. It is just nice to see some cracks in the new policy, maybe they will widen.

A bit off topic, but I have not had quick picks since the Cyber Monday banners have started. Anyone else experiencing this?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
It happens from time to time. I fell off buying from Amazon for a little bit, was searching cameras on the site, and then they were gone. Obviously my buying is up again and the quick picks are pack!

I've definitely noticed that my Quick Picks have vanished since the Thanksgiving week deals started too.

mine finally came back yesterday - I use Safari so for some reason I have to visit the page and then reload it to get them to appear

Mine were back yesterday but are gone today?

    Just another quick pick note:

Most of the time, my picks align themselves pretty well with my amazon shopping habits - mainly Lego, Lego Videos, Lego books, etc. but every now and then they are so far off that I have to ask myself "Who the hell do these people think I am?"

"No. I will be not be needing rabbit sheers while listening to the smooth music stylings of Simon & Garfunkel."

Mine have been there, but way below all the other deals (local, coupons, etc.). I made the mistake of ordering a Celtic Thunder CD for my mother and was tortured with Celtic offers. I believe if you go to My Account, My Recommendations, Why Recommend you can click Not Interested and stop it from taking up Quick Pick slots.

^ Yup, some of the quick picks are a bit strange. :-)

LOL... nothing says "under the radar" then creating a discussion with it in the title :P

I've moved this to "Buying and Selling" as it's not necessarily a current deal available to everyone.

@rocoa - what would you recommend instead to inform the community and start discussion? I am teachable, well barely.

The personal quick picks are rather weird sometimes. During the Black Friday/Cyber week extravaganza they went away entirely. Now they are back with Lego sets.
There are lulls when they are entirely random stuff like today's "Chainmate CM-24SSP 24-Inch Survival Pocket Chain Saw With Pouch" Perhaps to be used to mutilate modify Lego pieces?

Ahhh man! I've always wanted one of those. And, with a pouch! Why can't that be a quick pick of mine? I will often see a Watering Scare Crow that is Black and Yellow. :-) You know for those times you're watering grass seed, or your garden, and want those pesky birds to stay away.

Heh, I have that chainsaw actually. It's not bad for what it is, and will serve me well in the coming zombie apocolypse.

So, you can lop off all kinds of limbs!

I have noticed quick picks being gone from Todays deals page since Thanksgiving, I always chalked it up to Amazon focusing on having more lightning deals.

I bought a lot over the weekend and Cyber Monday from Amazon.com and I do not see any quick picks still. So not sure if it is spending that brings them back

When I do see quick picks I also always get stuff for cats or pets in general. I have no pets and never have bought pet supplies for anyone for any reason anywhere. Never even looked up pet supplies on Amazon.com. So I have no idea where their picks come from.
One would think they look at the items you have purchased in the past, but I think the example above explains that away.

^ Shoot your eye out. :-) The new version of Christmas Story will have Ralphie taking a chain saw to zombies instead of using the Red Ryder on Black Bart!

Or so the BF/CM deals weren't further discounted.

Laf, LFT, you did it again. I can't now look at any of your posts without seeing unnecessary whitespace :) I don't particularly care, but I do think it's funny.

Huh? There was one paragraph break in my post.

This isn't overkill, it is proper punctuation and line spacing. You kids these days with your 160 characters or less Twittering or Tweeting or whatever it is that you do.

Now get off my lawn! :)
