Battersea Power Station Brand Store - Thoughts on opening offers

It's been a while since I've been to a store opening, and I was wondering what people thought might be available as opening offers.

In the past we've seen:

T-shirts
Packs of three location-specific minifigures
Brand store models
We Love <location> tiles

According to the TLG site, we can expect...

Exclusive opening offers:

25th – 28th May - Get a LEGO Store set (40528) with any purchase of £120 or more in store*
*Offer valid 25/05/23 – 28/05/23 or while stocks last. Offer valid on 40528

30th May – 3rd June - Get a LEGO Store Battersea Tote bag with any purchase of £50 or more in store**
**Offer valid 30/05/23 – 03/06/23 or while stocks last. Offer valid on item 5007815

That seems a bit... meh, considering what we've seen in the past. Not even a tile for the first 500 through the door.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Leicester Square store as a RLFM rep, and got a bag of goodies, but it seems like the launch offers for Lego fans are not what they were.

There's a make and take model of the power station as well: http://bricksfanz.com/lego-battersea-opening-day-set-revealed/

Brickset will be there on the pre-opening event on the 24th so we'll report back ASAP.

I am hoping to go on opening day but won't be spending anything like £120 so I guess no GWP for me.

Sorry pressed "post comment" to quickly.
Yeah....so not gonna be spending anything near £120. More like 20 quid ! I like the look of that mini Battersea Power Station. So cute. But no flying inflatable pig ?
Despite this branch being slightly nearer to my home than Leicester Square or Westfield SB I don't think I will be going there regularly as there isn't really much else for me at this fancy pants new shopping centre.
But it will be a nice Thursday morning out - and I will get to use the new (ish) tube station (the catchy named "Battersea Power Station Station" - so good they named it twice).

@bookmum - Might see you there. I'm hoping to go to opening day.

Who is going tonight? I believe @huw is.
I am going to go tomorrow if the morning goes to plan (getting daughter to school on time can be a bit of a faff).
I've never been to a store opening before.
And what should I buy for about 20 quid (all I can spare this month).

Yes was there this evening. The offers are #40528 free with purchases over £120 and  40589 Pirate Ship Playground free with purchases over £95.

The mini battersea PS model is not available until the weekend, although attendees today were given one.

@BooTheMightyHamster did you go today? I had a change of plan so didn't get there today. I now plan to be going Sunday so should get one of those teeny tiny Power Stations to build.

I had never heard of Battersea Power Station so had to look it up.  Interesting to read about the history and redevelopment of the station and surrounding area.

If I make it back to London one day (I should say when), I'll hopefully be able to check the area out and of course stop by the Lego store.

    @bookmum

I did get there yesterday, but not until after lunch.  Spoke to one of the staff members who had come over from Leicester Square to help out, and he said the first chap in the queue had been there since 5.30am!

It's a nice shop - a little small maybe, with some stock up on a first floor landing that's only accessible by a narrow staircase.  It was a bottleneck yesterday and the store wasn't that crowded, could be a nuisance at busier times.

Lego stores all use the same design language these days, so other than the mural on the wall, there's little to distinguish this shop from any other.  If it hadn't been for the opening day offers, I probably wouldn't have visited.  For me (Enfield) it's a 90 minute train / tube journey, whereas I used to be able to hop in the car and get to Watford in about 20 mins.  As such, I doubt I'll visit again.

Did treat myself, as I haven't bought any Lego for a while.  I've been eying up #75978 Diagon Alley for a long time, and I'm not sure if it's due for retirement any time soon, so I thought I'd splash out.  Got the #40528 Brand Store, #40589 Pirate Ship Playground and the I Love Battersea tile on the way out.

It's (the power station) a lovely place to visit from an architecture point of view, but shopping-wise, it's mainly aimed at those who want to spend £10,000 on a watch or clothes or whatnot.

There is a nice Pret A Manger though, if you're peckish.

@BooTheMightyHamster Pret A Manger - ooh la la.... that's posh. Wot no Greggs !!
Yes I plan to go Sunday. Get the teeny power station set, buy a few minifigs and that will be about it.
I doubt I will go to Battersea again as the rest of the shops are way out my league!

Ahh so it's an "affluent" shopping center.  Sounds like it's out of my league as @[email protected] said, but still would try to stop by one day to enjoy the architecture as you say and just to say I've "been there, done that."
  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,511
@Keilup yes that's my general plan - a "been there, done that, didn't get the t-shirt because it cost too much" trip. Then back to Westfield for Lego Store.

There's an electic range of brand stores there, including Genesis and Polestar EV shops.

It was so quiet on Wednesday I can't imagine it was worth any of the shops while being open, to be honest. Maybe it's busier at weekends!

@Huw I'll find out on Sunday how busy it is.
They could at least have a Battersea Dogs and Cats charity shop/gift shop there.
Tea towels with cats on.... I'd buy them !!

They'd look great with @Speedman29's Owls tablecloth!
