I don't think this has been posted yet. But there are some lego deals spread out across the pages. The one that I was most interested were the deals on page 12. The lego city town square for 74.99 and a few other SW sets. Sorry can't type up full thing, I am at work!

$79.99 Gunship isn't a bad deal either. 33% off RRP.

I really hope these deals, especially the town square one, will be online. The thought of going to Toys R Us depresses me. The thought of going on Black Friday makes me ill.

I don't remember if they put any of these online last year. They usually do not, since the lower prices are meant to get people into the store.

There's always the possibility Amazon will match some of these with Lightning Deals over the course of the holiday weekend.

Personally, no price is good enough to get me into TRU on Black Friday. My wife did it one year and said it was one of the worst shopping experiences of her life.

^^ On the page with the Town Square/Gunship, it says "Offer available in store only" (right under the big "Save $60").

Also, I went to TRU BF last year, and it wasn't as bad as I had expected, at least at my location. I got there at around 11pm, wait for about 10 mins outside (for people to leave the store), went in and got my Lego set, but did have to wait about 10 mins to checkout. Overall, I was happy. Not sure I want to go at 5am this year just to get the Town Square though.

Ugh.. Wow, never thought I would break my oath to never go out early on BF to fight for good deals until I saw that Town Square for 75.. Also never thought I would be breaking that oath by going to a TRU.

My daughter (who is 14 now) and I have a "father-daughter tradition" that we started a few years ago. We go and do the black Friday thing. We try and find the best lego deals, then anything else we like at the places we are going for "Mom and brother". Then we go to Denny's and get "all you can eat" pancakes! It's a lot of fun this way. She's been excited about this for months now. The Gunship and Town square being in a decent sale will just make this year all the more fun :-)

You don't have to. TRU Black Friday starts at 5pm on Thursday this year. :P

^- I believe @Poochy meant he wants to get the Square with the good price. The Advert says the Town Square price is a 5am doorbuster

I'd love the Town Square for $75. But it's not enough to get out of my food coma on 5pm Thursday.

^^ Right, that was my understanding as well. It's hard to pass up on that Town Square opportunity though, even at 5am, given that it's a TRU exclusive (or at least I think it is).
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,536
Wow, would really like to snag a Town Square at that price. 5am at TRU is just brutal though.

I saw in the leaked Gamestop BF ad they are promising "a free Lego building set or keychain with any Lego game purchase for any system". No image or wording as to what those might be. Maybe leftover Loki keychains or a poly of some kind? Might be worth a look if you plan on getting a Lego game anyway.

Well even though some of these deals are good the thought of going to toys-r-us black friday with all the crazy parents in the world looking for that one thing for there kid. Not worth it for me. I usually just do some Amazon deals and of course Cyber Monday.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
The flyer also says spend $75 on anything and get a $10 gift card.

I enjoy Black Friday just to watch people. Walmart, for example, has a frenzy at midnight for the video games, which lasts a good 15-20 seconds until all the copies are gone. Then it's pretty quiet after that.

Toys R Us last time I went was a fairly pleasant experience. I got the City Corner set for like 40% off or something. Just walked in picked one off the shelf, and got in line. The checkout line took a good 15 minutes, but it was moving at a fairly regular speed. Everyone was calm and it wasn't too loud.

I wish TRU didn't call their deals "doorbusters" though. That brings to mind the people who have been hurt in past "frenzies."

It says Friday till Saturday at close. I could go after

It varies by store I'm sure, but the TRU locations I've been to on Black Friday over the past 10 years have always been a madhouse.

They have been and still are the de facto place most people go when toy shopping. They also traditionally have one of the earliest openings so the lines build up.

I am kinda upset, I just got town square at lego store thinking it would not be discounted ever.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Why would you think that? It wasn't part of the No discount list.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
There's no reason to be upset. The LEGO store will accept a return for up to 90 days, which even gives you time to wait to make sure you can actually pick up a set at TRU on Black Friday which is far from a given.

Also, to my knowledge, Town Square is not on the LEGO discount exclusion list, so there's no reason to think it would never be discounted.

I wonder if you put a Town Square on lay-away and picked it up that Friday if they would honor the sale price on it?
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,759
I'm guessing unless they have a price matching thing for layaway items (which would probably also exclude BF prices) Im guessing the layaway price is what the price was when you put it to layaway, but that is just a guess.
Likely though, knowing TRUs penchant for exclusions and limits on discounts and whatnot.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,759
So has anyone heard if the rumors of rewards members can get the BF deals on Wednesday before Thanksgiving?
  • red237red237 Member Posts: 332
^^^I tried to buy the town square online for in-store pick up wed or thurs for the deal (would ask for an adjustment) but it is showing out of stock in all the stores within 100 miles of me. I do for a fact know that it is not o/s, as i just saw it in the closest store. Ah well. Good luck everyone. Can't make it those days.

Yes they will, but it is a long complicated process. ...likely to upset those behind you in line... Guy in front of me in line today did a similar transaction. They completed the layaway, then did a return and then he bought his dollhouse at sale price.

I received an email with a link to the "members only early access" specials and the town square is not one of them :(

There are 8 sets listed at 35% off, albeit TRU regular retails.

Hopefully, this link will work -

^ thanks for the Heads up, may try to go to TRU on Wednesday and see if they happen to have the TS on sale, if not, then I guess I will need to get up early for a BF door buster after all, do not want to, but it is a good price

I went in on Friday night to pick up some special Barbie stuff when one of my manager friends told me to watch for deals on Wednesday. He couldn't say what...but the topic came up when I asked him if they were gonna have enough Town Squares on hand for Black Friday. They had a total of 6 on hand.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^ACK, 6? Did he mention to watch for deals in store or online also?

And that is what I am worried about.. I mean if there are only a handful of items in the store at the price they will not last long.
I really think they should make a law that states if you are having such a sale you much have x of them in stock and on hand OR give out rain checks for that item when the sales starts and no items are present. (not sure if TRU, or anyone else for that matter, offer rain checks anymore)

  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
My TRU today had over 50 Town Squares out ready for Black Friday. Don't panic. I am willing to bet every store has at least that many and probably double that. Still not going out at 5 am to get it though. That's insane :)
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
Last week....it was either Tues. or Wed. my local TRU had 2 of them and then Friday, after a recent truckload shipment, they now have 6. When I asked if they were getting more...he just said "He hoped." This TRU gets truck delivery on Tuesday and said he was hoping for more then. Nothing like cutting it close. This TRU usually takes 1-2weeks to get new stuff(polys) on the floor, they're gonna have to hussle this week.

I think so and this is what I am going to do as I am flying back home next Friday so I plan to buy it today and do a return and purchase back on Saturday since the price is good till Saturday closing time. As long as your credit card does not carry interest payment, there is no harm and the worst will be just returning the set.

^if everyone does that, wouldn't that leave them with no stock and defeat their BF ad? This is just a question, not some sort of moral inquisition. :p

Well blame the store management NOT putting aside adequate quantity for the BF. ;) Not adjusting price? Fine I can simply return the overpriced box and that is my right. They can choose to not sell it to me again (it will automatically ring up BF price) and that is their right but do not blame me for giving them some "nice compliment" when the survey comes. ;)

At 5am surely only a handful of people would be there? It's not like that have any ridiculous door busters (I.e. game consoles for $10 or something crazy).

If I wanted enough stuff, I'd rock up that early to avoid crowds. In the runup to Christmas most department stores in malls open later and that's when I do most of my Christmas shopping (10pm or later).
