Article about LEGO and Creativity

Interesting read.

I definitely don't like how education in the US is becoming a quest to get kids to pass standardized test. Though, I won't mind my kids playing with more LEGO. :)

Slightly OT: ThinkFun, the logic puzzle company, also is engaged with schools. Here is a PDF of a conference presentation and a link to teacher resources.

Both of these companies are doing great work in this way. And, taking my own daughter as a test case, they are both effective at stimulating young minds. I'd love to see more companies with mentally-enriching products and philosophy working with schools along these lines.

@chromedigi That's good to know. At home, my son has played a couple of their games, Rush Hour and Tipover, and enjoyed them. This makes me curious if his school does anything with logic puzzles/games. He's only in Kindergarten so I doubt it since they're trying to teach them the basics. I'll have to ask during the parent/teacher conference.

Our schools could do better at teaching our children to think for themselves in all grades.
