Somerville worth a visit, they still had many of the above sets plus a quinjet and the hobbit game, along with a couple of the smaller helms deep and a ghost train. Saugus had a few things, billerica and tewksbury, nada.

I went to three in my area. They were pretty much sold out of most of the clearance after weeks of 20 and 30%. Was able to pick up Hobbit Attack of the Wargs #79002 for $23.50, some Chima speedorz for $7 and Friends polybags #30102 for $1.75. Got plenty of the polys to stock away for BD party treat bags. So, for that I am psyched.

I had a stash at my local KMart but most of it was sold at 20% off. I hit the road 30 miles away and was able to find the following:

LOTR #9472 Attack on the Weathertop $28 (x3)
    LOTR #9471 Uruk-Hai Army $14 (x4)
    LOTR #9474 Helms Deep $61.50 (x2)
    Monster Fighters #9467 Ghost Train $34 (x2)
    Super Heroes Hulks Breakout #6868 $23 (x1)
Hobbit #79002 Attack of the Wargs $22 (x1)

    Passed on:
    SW Gungan Ship $33
Hobbit #79002 Attack of the Wargs $22
Hobbit #79001 Escape From Mirkwood Spiders $14
    Hobbit Games $15
    LOTR Shelob Attacks $11
    SW #9497 $22
    lot of Chima Speedorz

Are the LOTR Attack on Weathertops or City The Mine ($45) really worth it? I picked up 3 LOTR just because I've others on here chatting about it for higher prices.
  • TheMurmurTheMurmur Member Posts: 90
Depends, I believe most people want the Weathertop set to complete their Nazgul collection, while the rest of the set is far less interesting. I'm sure there are a few that want just the pieces to MOC a larger Weathertop, but the real draw are the Nazgul, until they appear in another set.

As for the mine, I've no idea since I don't collect city sets.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Personally, I think the Mine is the clear winner from last years city sets. It is unique, fun and will likely never be repeated. Or at least not for a while. At $45 that is a no brainer for me personally.
  • adol7adol7 Member Posts: 150
I would hope the Mine would be more desirable than a police or fire station that gets remade every couple years.
I saw a few Weathertops with a white sticker in Lodi, CA and they rang up full price. :( However, I did see most of what's been mentioned in the previous posts. Grabbed some, left some.
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
My store had 7 weathertops a few days ago, and a few wargs, crazy scientists and vampire hearses. Today at noon, nothing left. Sigh. Picked up some series 1 and 2 friends pets for $2 though.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
That's the way my local store was too....about 5-6 Weathertops, a few #3818 SpongeBobs, MF Vampire Hearses and Super Heroes Batwing Battles over Gotham that someone bought last week at 20% off. Those would have been fun sets for the kids at 50% plus off.
  • baronbaron Member Posts: 106
still 25% at my store yesteraday...
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
^yesterday it was 25%. Today it is 50%. In most markets.

After seeing what people were finding, I stopped at a K-Mart about 30 minutes away. Found 2 Ghost Trains for $38. Everything else listed in this thread was full price. Meh.

Stopped by 3 different KMarts on my hour long drive to a birthday party and picked up a bunch of presents for myself and my kids.

    AT-TE for $40
    Helms Deep $60
Urak Hai $14 x3 (left a bunch on the shelves)
    LR Stagecoach $13 x3
SW Spider droid $14 x3 (all stores had a ton of these sets)
    Olivia House $35
    misc Speedorz $7

Saw lots of other stuff too, but was either not interested or already had it....

someone cleared my store out. was hoping for some LOTR and City Mine. :-/
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
One Kmart, basically nothing. The other had 50% off of all clearance- all they had were a bunch of Goblin King sets and Hobbit games and one MF werewolf. Picked up some Friends polys (Emma's Desk) for $1.75 each.
Noticed a bunch of Uruk Hai's, Weathertops at full price.
I was hoping for some AT-TE's for $40, what a great deal!

I need to check out my local K-mart in Anderson Towne Centre near Cincinnati. Anyone checked this one out yet? I would be sorely tempted to get that stagecoach set at $13 or Helms Deep for $60. Wow.
  • NellyNelly Member Posts: 77
If anyone spots the Uruk Hai sets for $14-$15 I sure would be glad to pay for several of them to be sent my way.

Have a lot of you found Super Heroes Batwing Battles over Gotham? I can't find it in any of the Kmarts in my area?

Nope. In my area they were all cleaned with the initial 40% back in rewards.

Hi a few K-MArts today with less success than usual. Looks like someone in the STL beat me to most. I did find some sets that were..**ahem** hidden behind some other toys. Perhaps one of my brickset brethren had planned a return to pick them up? :)
  • BlueMoonUSABlueMoonUSA Member Posts: 116
Hit 3 Kmarts in the Hampton Roads area of VA today. Snagged an Olivia's house for 34.50 and some 79108 LR Stagecoaches for $13.50. All 3 Kmarts had plenty in stock and they all scanned at $13.50, but were not stickered as clearance. Oddly, this was the only LR set that scanned with the discount.

All three stores also had (not stickered clearance) the Black Zero 76009 set for $9. Similarly, this was the only discounted Super Heroes set. Weird.
  • adol7adol7 Member Posts: 150
Crap, now you guys are gonna make me have to go back again and scan non-stickered sets. At least I know Sonic Raider wasn't $38 in my area as I just paid $59 for it. :(
Pay attention to all those receipt/coupons they spit out. My first purchase this week had one to earn 15% in points on $50+ spent.

I know this is a KMart thread...but I thought I'd mention it here anyway since people seem interested in the Uruk-Hai Army sets. If anyone has Shopko Hometowns(smaller citys), they have the LOTR Uruk-Hai Armys on clearance for $19.99.....down from their everyday price of $49.99!....not great...but not bad either. Shopko Hometowns are about as bad as TRU sometimes.

    @adol
I received two $10 in points on a $35 spend and three $.30 of per gallon of gas (up to 20 gallons) in three stops.
    Not bad.
  • lulwutlulwut Member Posts: 417
If anyone picked up the elusive AT-TE on clearance and wants to trade, lmk. I'll do two Weathertops or a Jabba's Palace or something, provided you pay shipping both ways.

Those gas coupons couldn't have come in at a better time. I just had a roadtrip planned this week.

    Not bad.

The cashier suggested I split my purchase into mutliple increments of $50 so I coudl get multiples of the $0.30 of the gas. That was a nice surprise (to get a cashier who had a clue and actually shared it with me.) Nice job KMart. :)

Especially considering the equivalent RRP in many Euro countries is almost $70.

Tons of Stagecoaches and #76009 Superman Black Zero Escape ($9) at my store. Left a lot of discounted Lego behind today. Favorite scores were the Star Wars and City advent calendars, Republic Striker.. Also picked up Bag 1 out of 2 of the Hearse for $8. It had the minifigures so I bought it.
Things I was bummed about not being on sale were Weathertop, Uruk Hai, Smallville, Olivia's House. And of course, not finding any AT-TEs- that would be amazing.

Fire Plane was also discounted about $15 off, I passed.

  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I did find Uruk Hai at one store for $14.50 and several Attack of the Wargs. I never did see any of the Black Zero's or AT-TE's either...but I did find a couple Stagecoaches at the last K-mart....woohoo.

Sure is a good price, with currency conversion it comes in at just under 80% off our AU RRP of $69.99

Were those stickered? I've seen none of those on clearance shelves but I've seen them on the regular shelves. The mini plastic-container sets I saw in their own cardboard shelving, but I didn't bother scanning any. Don't make me go back yet again. :p
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
Some were marked and some weren't. The plastic container and smallest sets were not marked. Sorry! :-)

Didn't have any LEGO in their clearance sections anymore from last week. They didn't have much to begin with. Did scan some random sets and Dual on Geonosis came up as $33.99. Been eying that set so I bit.
  • gofigure19gofigure19 Member Posts: 20
For all those with kids take a look at the Crayola section while checking for Lego clearance at your Kmarts. I have found many products marked down (40-50%) and this week they also have a buy one get one free deal that ends today! Watch carefully the receipts though as some of mine did not ring up correctly (the sale marked price as well as the B1G1). Also, a sign I saw said a limit of 5 free items (not sure if they enforce this or not).

One item I bought several of was the Crayola Model Magic (sorta like Play Doh but fewer crumbs on the floor). Reg 7.99 for a pack of 3 colors. On sale for 4.64 each and then get one free with the sale so it worked out to be 2.32 each plus tax.

Almost no Lego whatsoever on clearance at the two I've checked recently. Did get a couple of Star Wars planets for $4.50/ea, which means I cleared out the Lego clearance inventory all by myself. All in all, it was barely worth the trips. Saw a fair amount of MB Halo & WoW on clearance, though.

It's not the happy hunting ground in these parts... you are lucky, Margot.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308

It is advertised at that price so not one of the unadvertised specials.

Does anyone know when the 50% off of clearance or unadvertised deals will end?

  • chromedigichromedigi Member Posts: 344
    Dawn breaks on marble head...

@margot - I just now digested the fact that you're finding clearance-like deals in the normal Lego aisles. So, are you price-scanning sets and finding them at lower price points than what it says on the shelves? (Tedious, but tempting, if so.)
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
    edited October 2013
@chromedigi- I'm just going by the list of what everyone posted before me, start at the beginning of this thread. I am curious how the first person discovered this. I did scan a bunch of other stuff too just to check but didn't have much luck other than the few bits and bobs I posted about on Oct 3. A lot of the unadvertised 50% off stuff is on the end of the Lego aisle.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
I think it was @BlueMoonUSA who mentioned that things were not stickered... The beauty of this is that you can find things, they aren't cleared out.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
The K-mart that I was lucky enough to find the Stagecoaches at had a small section of LEGO outside of the normal LEGO isle and away from the clearance stuff. It had all of the LoTR ,Lone Ranger and Superman sets but only the Stagecoach rung up on sale...and the Republic Striker. I certainly had my hopes up when I saw a big pile off all alone away from the regular LEGO.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^There is something funny going on with those big piles of Lego. The Uruk Hai's, Weathertops, Smallvilles that I scan are saying "advertised price" on the scanner, as if they are on a sale, but the price is the normal price. I asked a store employee about it and he said something about a BOGO sale so I wonder if possibly there is a discount if you buy 2?
  • red237red237 Member Posts: 334
A bit late to the game here, but was able to finally go to a couple Ks today. One did not have any price scanners, so that was tough.....Most things had been picked over, but got lucky in the Garden Center, where most folks had overlooked!! Similiar sets as listed above. :)

Hope you bought them. If so, that belongs in the brag thread. :)
