Trading minifigs

I have several sets I have to trade, and I have a want list of minifigs. Do you think it is better to open up the sealed boxes and pull the minifigs out or do you think I could trade sets for minifigs. Also does it matter what the set is.
Lets say keep Jabbas palace or the goblin kings battle sealed, and maybe open up the batwing or hulks helicarrier break out, or the other way around.

You could always try to arrange trades for the sets first if you don't want them. Then if they fall flat, try to arrange trades for the minifigs and part sets separately - but don't open them yet. If they work, then part them out. If not, sell the sets as new sealed.
