What happened to Brick Magic convention in Raleigh?

I attended what apparently was the last one in 2012 and thought it was a great show. For a while the website said that they were going to take a year off (2013) but now I see that the website is totally down. Anybody know what happened?

I don't think it's dead yet... last I heard they were still thinking about 2014 and brainstorming ideas. I'll send this thread to Joe Meno. I imagine its tough to commit to hosting a show financially. Philly Brickfest and Brickfair NJ are also coming to the East Coast next year and there are now more events than ever pulling AFOLs to exhibit... there is also the loss of store discount as incentive. For most of these events, paid public attendance is really important to it's success.

    Are you in Raleigh?

Thanks for the reply, I'm down 70 in eastern NC area. No 10% off $50.00 coupons that the Lego booth had? Those were nice but not a reason to come to the show. I thought they had a very nice mix of vendors, displays, builds and talks. I would think it's already pretty late in the game for a 2014 show unless it's late fall.

    Cool. I'm in Cary.

There used to be a discount for exhibitors. Sadly, no more.

NCLUG does an event called LEGOPalooza UNC's Moorehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill in early March. There is also a holiday themed display for Enchanted Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC on the weekends between Thanksgiving & Christmas.

You should try to come to an NCLUG meeting or stop by one of those events! http://www.nclug.us/ - badly in need of updating...

Thanks for the link! I always wondered if there was a LUG around. I'll try to get to a meeting sometime and have something I would not mind displaying sometime.

I'm also wondering about BrickMagic. If they are planning to start up again why did they take off their website? Hosting should be more than a few bucks. It just seems to indicate that they decided not to continue...)c:

Due to this, I sure there will be no BrickMagic this year. Perhaps others in the know can chime in.

while not entirely in the know, i will say it's highly highly unlikely to happen. i co-run brickflix (which coincidentally is taking a year off as well), and the perfect world would be to get the two to coincide again. hopefully with a year lead time we can pull that off :)
