Bought 5 from the ebay posting and just saw that my TRU has like 100 of them out. Bah.

I thought it was going to be something cool looking but it's a downer. Why the hubbub about this? It's just an odd looking "plane". I'm a city collector but this REALLY does nothing for me. Why buy 5? Or is it because it comes in a polybag?

^yes, polybag... plus a seaplane is just really cool to me.

I was just at TRU today and two weeks ago the bins were full of the lawn mower. Today there wasnt a lawn mower in site but the bins were filled with the little sea plane.

My TRU had both lawn mower and sea plane at $3.99 in southern CT. Picked up the sea plane.

So what if it was sold in a little box? Sorry, I just don't understand the whole "polybag" craze.

^Yes, it's clear you don't understand the polybag craze but what does it matter? I'm sure there are some things you like that would leave me scratching my head but I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. :-)
If it was sold in a little box then it would probably cost 6.99 instead of 3.99. A lot of polybags sell out quickly making them more exclusive. And being a polybag I can buy 2 or 3 and throw them into a storage bin a lot easier than I could with little boxes....
And I do really like the set. I probably would still buy it in a little box.

TRU sale this week offers a free Seaplane poly with a $25 purchase. (Grr -- I bought nearly $25 worth of CMF yesterday!). The TRU at Potomac Mills, VA had a TON of the seaplanes for those that are looking.

Take your receipt back and ask if they will adjust it or do a return and rebuy. Or just ask if they can give you one since you just spent money with them. You might be surprised.

I'm not trying to show any disrespect, just some thoughts on why they are so collectible. Some I just don't think are good looking sets (like this one), some I do (lawnmower). Do you count the exclusive minifigures (Hulk) as essential to a polybag collection? Again, no disrespect at all, just curious. I understand aspects of collecting. Some collect only City, some only Technic, heck I am sure someone out the collects only instructions. I just like to know why people collect certain things. Thanks!

^ I believe you'll find some explanation in this thread: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/7364/polybag-popularity including this post

The reason many collect them is because it's hard to. You can't buy them all in stores, you have to 'hunt' for them: find out where they are available and work out how you're going to get them. It's one of the more fun aspects of the hobby for me.
