Combining two Black Gate sets

I am considering picking up a second set to combine with mine to create a bigger, more complete gate. Has anyone else done this? Any suggestions? This would be my first MOC, if you would call it that.

I think it depends on what you're trying to do. I know I'll eventually be getting four, combined with parts from my own collection simply because the gate and tower are way too short. Looking at the instructions, if you're just looking to build a second tower, you should be able to more or less mirror the 'complete' half of the gate and have a reasonable System-style Black Gate.

I did this as suggested in the instructions. It's very simple because the sections connect with technic pins.

If you just want the other side then I would recommend buying a second one without minifigures, you can get them for around $30 to $35 on Bricklink. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=116553

So how does this work, you just do the build in reverse, or other modifications are necessary?

Hello, it's still work in progress but I can show you what I have done so far. I do plan to combine Tower of Orthanc into it as well.
