NXT 1.0 screen is very dim w/ new batteries.

I haven't used my NXT in a long time and I stored it without batteries in the Mindstorms box, etc. I tried it out today and the screen is barely readable. I used new Duracell batteries and energizer advanced lithium batts with same results.
I know the screen isnt the best, but I never remembered it being this dim.

I seen the video of LCD screen repair of resoldering the capacitors. I dont want to do that unless its certain that is the problem.

Screen doesnt or never flickered or went out completely, so I never paid attention to the faulty screen replacement. I got it in Christmas of 2006 or 2007.

I left it on for a few minutes and the screen is easy to see again. Must of had a slow time waking up. Glad it isn't broken :)

Have you contacted Lego customer service about it?

Nope, but I think I fixed it by leaving it on.
