^Yep, green lantern in a £20 or less set would suit me nicely, preferably with no duped characters too. (Oh Wishful Thinking, I am thy servant).

Love the look of classic Cyclops, and Ronan looks good too, although I'm not keen on the black, I'd prefer classic green. Really looking forward to the GOTG and X-Men stuff, turning out to be a great Marvel year.

what figs are there? cause I'm green in regards to the GOTG.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674

Come ON LEGO, give me a Green Lantern that does not cost $200!!!!!

He was even in the LEGO Movie with a speaking role, and we're still not getting him. They even revived Johnny Thunder before releasing a Green Lantern.

If we're getting Martian Manhunter in a poly, maybe GL will be a future promo.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
I sincerely wish they would give us a Green Lantern sometime soon. It doesn't even have to be a Hal Jordan version, I would be happy with a Jon Stewart or Kyle Rayner one. Heck, I would even take a Guy Gardner version at this rate...
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
What they really need is a Blue Beetle set, with the ship, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, and Booster Gold. I would buy that on sight...

I would kill for that set..

Well not kill but certainly deconstruct someone.... :)

Apparently some lego stores are already putting the March/April Super Heroes sets out...someone posted it on another forum but did not specify where it was located.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
And that is awful, because they'll be sold out before March 1st, and I'll have to buy something I don't want just to get the Martian Manhunter... bah...
  • RomanticWarriorRomanticWarrior Member Posts: 248
But they should be fully restocked sometime in March, no? Unless you're J'onzzing to have your Martian Manhunter on March 1.

In NJ one of the stores near me is usually out of monthly or promos by the middle of the month. We get a lot of visitors to the state and this particular store has a lot of traffic, I have had to go to other store to get figures, not complaining we are lucky to have a handful of store state wide, just would not rule it out that some stores will sell out of promos.
  • veign06veign06 Member Posts: 136
yeah no stores here so i am hoping the online shop has them available march 1st

USA Today have a preview of a GotG set. Not the largest image, but essentially it's the image used on the box we've already seen a bit of.

^ Yeah. I couldn't tell from the preview but it looks like it is live action and the Raccoon is cartoon? Would have expected CGI but I couldn't tell if that was just the way the trailer was done or is going to be the actual thing. Like Roger Rabbit.

Not too sure about the ships but the minifigs of Drax the Destroyer,Gamora and Ronan the Accuser will certainly make it a must buy for me.
  • ninjagolightlyninjagolightly Member Posts: 140
I'm not gonna lie, I collected comics for 20 years back in the day and I have never, ever heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, those minifigs look pretty boss, whoever they are. That dude with the flying dish thing, whoever he is, is such an obvious ripoff of Orion from the New Gods. I like the big ship. The little ship is very odd, but seems to have a light brick.
I really dislike how LEGO renders add that sheen and make regular gray look like pearl dark gray or silver and get my hopes up for awesome parts... like those Technic fairings.
What is the trans-red piece in between the ships?
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,548

Is the guy with the black hood called 'Dark Curler', terror of the winter olympics?

Here is my best to explain "simply" who GoTG are. 1st team appeared in early 70's and have done 2nd tier comic runs and appearances through the 60's,70's-80's, BUT with a different group of characters. All of the current GoTG characters which will appear in these LEGO sets and the upcoming movie are obscure 60's,70's-early 80's marvel cosmic characters. A few years ago Marvel comics redid the GoTG tittle using a new plot line and with these obscure characters. Long story short we now have a big budget movie coming out that i assume will tie in with Marvel movie universe with the Avengers. So these characters are OLD but not well known outside the marvel comic reading community and may even be obscure to the new avid comic reader.

I am very surprised these characters made it to the big screen and now lego but am very very excited about it as i was a obscure marvel hero junkie in the 70's-80's.

The guy with the dish thing is Ronan the Accuser. Hardly a rip-off of some DC character and is perhaps older than Orion thus making Orion the rip-off of Ronan. Ronan is a Kree who's 1st appearance was in Fantastic 4 #65 in 1967 created by the man himself Stan Lee!

reread my post and i think GoTG came out in '69
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^I think he was suggesting that Star-Lord was a rip-off of Orion, though the two characters aren't really similar at all.

Not the hammer guy. The dish guy. I looked him up, he first appeared in 76, five years after the New Gods debuted with Orion on the cover using his trademark astro-harness (I actually did not remember that name for it, thanks Wikipedia!), which along with the headgear is what immediately made me think, "Orion!"

I was definitely deeper on the DC side, more of X-books-only for Marvel stuff, so I guess that's why I never heard of those guys.

Other than Rocket Raccoon. I am pretty sure I still have all my original issues of that somewhere. Right there along with Micronauts and Atari Force. If Atari Force was ever released in LEGO, I would probably never get to own them, because I would die of joy just seeing the first high-res photos. I suppose that's how some people feel now about GotG.

Behold the 2014 X-Men sets are not from X-Men Days of Future Past.

It's like the Ultimate Spider-Man 2014 sets, they are not based off the movie but are rather based on the comic book storyline close to the film.

    It Sucks!

^ agreed,so much for the wished for x-mansion,that sentinal is truly awful :-(
  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191
Personally I prefer the comic versions over the movie version any day. They are more iconic to the origins. Sentinel looks a little weak, but I can deal with it... if they made an oversized Sentinel minifig clock I just might have to get one.

Still hope they come out with Fantastic 4 in the years to come.

I'd take Claremont X-Men any day of the week over movie stuff. Loving the Blackbird, looks like it'll seat four. And the mini figs are perfect. Day one buy. Groot and Nebula look great from what I can see as well.
  • AdeelZubairAdeelZubair Member Posts: 2,710
@DrLegOBrick, Could you show me pictures for the other two Guardians of the Galaxy sets, I can't find any.
  • DrLegOBrickDrLegOBrick Member Posts: 68
It's only one set pictured, witch, other than the ship, leaves I believe two more left. Photo's where banned I believe of the GOTG stuff, you can kind of make out a sign saying as much in one of the X-Men pics. However, weather deliberate or by accident, one of the photos of the Hydra tank shows "76020 Escape from Knowwhere", with same said Nebula, Rocket Racoon, Groot, and someone called the searcher. I know of Eson the Searcher, but it's highly unlikely due to him being a Celestial.

^ I saw that and thought 'Treeman' possibilities.

Then, what with this, Bart's recent leg printing, and the chima elephant, LotR fans are left dreaming of what might have been... :oS

^Why banned, the trailer comes out on Tuesday, if Lego didn't want anybody to see them why show them.

    I believe that's a spring-loaded missile launcher, not a light brick.

far right, you can make out a Lego fig photographer, in an octagon with the S visible and underlined, in front of the GOTG sets. I could be misinterpreting it, but to me it looks like a warning involving photography. You can also see Storm better if you zoom in the same pic. I'm curious to see how the cape's attached.

As a BIG time X-Men reader and fan of the original X-Men and the 80s John Byrne / Chris Claremont era (the best) and through most of the 90s I am happy to see some of the figures in Lego form. But I am thoroughly disappointed that it seems like the movies and the licensing issues related to them are causing TLG to produce less than stellar sets of the X-Men and Spiderman. I will collect the figures and part the pieces for MOC or other.

If that PoS in that set is supposed to be the Blackbird it is just that a PoS.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^It looks more like the single pilot jet that Gambit took to Washington, D.C. in the 90's animated X-Men series (the first season of which, despite the awful animation, holds up to this day).

That sentinel is a disaster, though. I'm not sure who thought that design was acceptable, especially in light of the really amazing bipedal robot builds they've done across other themes.

I actually really like that Blackbird, which I'm assuming it is, but that Sentinel is indeed ugly as sin. I almost want to wait for a sale on this set but with all those figures I see this one going the way of the Deadpool Helicopter and becoming rare.

The more I see of the Blackbird Bluebird the more I like. There are some newer pics that show it can hold three figs in the front and it looks like there may be some cargo space in the rear as well. The flick fire missle section in the rear folds down as well giving it a much sleeker appearance. It's not exactly what I wanted, but much more than I expected when I heard the piece count was three hundred and some odd pieces.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^I think that's my big thing. The Blackbird should be comparable to the Quinjet in size.

Maybe the X-Men have really dropped off in popularity since I was younger (monthly comic sales rankings suggest otherwise), but LEGO really seems to be dropping the ball in regards to this particular section of the Marvel Universe.
