Seems to be a bit of inconsistency with the stickers in the various photos. One of the two dk. green half circles above the wing in the white background photo appears to have a 'battle damage' sticker while the complimentary brick does not. Meanwhile the box art photo has no stickers in this area.

The Battle damage isn't on all sides of those green parts, the "white background side" is the only one with significant damage, and that’s only on the "nose" side. The cover art picture is the other side of the ship. And the reference images for that show no damage at all. It might be odd only having a sticker on 1 of 4 similar parts but the damage it is showing is correct.
Interesting. The junction of sticker/not sticker is still pretty stark looking. Seems like it should taper off better or something.

Looking at the photo of the box you can see on the top it has the measurements, I can't make out the length but I think that it is 7 inches something (18-20cm) for height.

Also, I know it is just the box art (and huge if brick built), but cloud city is shown, things to come maybe. LOL.

I have to think that new Cloud City is coming and that is why they did not include a new Lando or Bespin Luke or Leia here.

^Thank you :) I was going to mention that. There are more than just that set as well. Why is Han with the last A-Wing?

Well, not just that, but the fact that LEGO has included Dengar, IG88, and Bossk in past incarnations of the Slave I. I know it doesn't make sense, but LEGO did it twice with the Slave I.

alright folks, I will concede that Lego doesn't always follow the scene of things and adds characters that don't belong (often really) I still don't have an issue with the choice but that's my opinion of it. as for 4-LOM, and Zuckuss, we can only hope that they appear in either EP-VII, or Rebels series. despite the art style of the rebels it is an opening for some of the rarely seen characters from the OT, and although I don't plan on buying much of the sets I can at least hope that Zuckuss, 4-LOM, and so on might make an appearance in a set

Unless this news has been released else where the chance of Cloud City is still low. Last year's Ewok Village did not bring us any other Endor sets.

It only doesn't make sense in terms of the OT or the movies as a whole but all of them have teamed up at some point in the EU so it is likely that they've all been on Slave I. Bossk was with Aurra Sing and Young Boba during the clone wars (cartoon).

Through the EU I can say with complete certainty that Dengar, Bossk, Zuckuss, Aurra Sing, and 4-LOM have all been on Slave I at some point. along with some even more obscure characters, mostly as captives ;)

side note: I love the EU, and completely agree there are moments Lego could have used to get all of them on the ship, but I also like the correctness they are using for the OT scenes as well.

But there were many Endor sets in the immediately preceding years.

But there were many Endor sets in the immediately preceding years.

#8038 Battle of Endor in 2009 isn't what I would call immediately preceding, and there were only two sets after that; one in 2011 and one in 2012, both of which were essentially battle packs.

@GIR3691/@pitfall69 Queen Amidala being in that set is not so far fetched, they did come up from the water in Theed to rescue her.

As for the UCS Slave I I would have loved it if they included a Lobot and Lando : I think they would have completed the set perfectly, as it stands the UCS Slave I is a 8+ (no stickers would have made is 10) but the figure selection is a 6 for me, I am only basing my opinion on pictures we have mind you.

I have the two previous regular version in sealed boxes, I may need to build one for comparison and to display next to the UCS version, unless I sell 1 or both ;-)
  • jediami65jediami65 Member Posts: 474
@bobabricks all of the Endor sets preceded the Ewok Village which made it pretty sweet parts wise to expand the Village or to add to it with the sets as whole.

i find it interesting how people plan for new sets, you among many plan to sell off 8097, which is perfectly fine. then you have people like me (or maybe just me) who are now looking to complete the full Slave I line up (yes all of them) i've only got to get 3 more (not counting 75060) :P

I'm really looking forward to this. Though I've bought a LOT of Lego Star Wars sets this year, I have held off on the Slave I iterations due to cost, and the rumor of this newly revealed set. I will definitely be purchasing this Day 1.

I am hoping that the release of this set, and the Bespin Guard in there, is a "sneak peek" of a future Cloud City set. For the Star Wars realm, non vehicle based large sets are not as common. I would like to see them release Cloud City as a multitude of sets that can be joined together akin to Jabba's Palace and the Rancor Pit. Have the Carbon Freezing chamber as the "main" set, the conference room where Vader awaits everybody as a side set, the area where Vader makes his surprise announcement to Luke as another side set, and then maybe the getaway hallways as another set, or an easy to MOC area. This would allow a great number of figures to be released and also allow an overall very large set to be constructed without an insane price tag.

At the very minimum, I want to see a nicely detailed Carbon Freezing chamber in the near future.

Doing some admittedly rough math it looks like the new UCS Slave I may be minifig scale. Until we're able to measure it and compare it directly to the dimensions on wookiepedia we can't know for sure, but from what I'm showing a minifig scale Slave I should be 52.5 centimeters long and this one appears to be within 5 centimeters of that.

Would make a fantastic piece to show next to the UCS Falcon if that is the case. What does everyone think?

In that case someone badly fucked up the scaling on the Incredible Cross Sections drawing, because if it's to be believed the set as it stands would have to be 50-100% larger to be minifig scale.

  • GallardoLUGallardoLU Member Posts: 644
@edgarallanpoe1422‌ Slave I is 21.5 meters long, and that works out to about 62 studs, this ucs is 58 studs so it's about 95% minifig scale.

Remembering the scenes in Empire featuring the Slave 1 it seemed about right but looking at that illustration made me think twice.
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
Wow, yeah, there's a huge difference between the wookieepedia size and the size in that diagram! I'd always got the impression that the Slave I was a smallish ship, just a step up in size from a heavy fighter.

I love those diagrams, thanks for posting that!

@Shpadoinkle‌ - I thoroughly recommend buying a copy of Complete Cross Sections. It is a real treat and perhaps my favourite SW reference book!

Hold up, is the Canopy printed or is this a sticker??? Please TLG tell me you´ve learned from the (canopy) sticker-fiasco from the last (UCS) X-Wing!

Look closely at he uncurved part of the canopy, i don´t think that TLG make a new mold that looks that curvy to match the canopy (hard to explain) ?! To me this looks like the canopy is straight on that side and the grey curviness comes from either print or a sticker!
  • Stvoyager04Stvoyager04 Member Posts: 120
^Pretty sure that is just the reflection of the light, especially as it carries on from the grey section
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
I guess you don't understand what i mean (it's kinda tricky to explain),but the the part where the canopy closes to the slopes is straight, the grey is either printed on the canopy or a sticker!

^ I see what you mean. I am inclined to agree- hoping for printing...
If you look at the inside bottom of the canopy on the far side it looks grey, which would be consistent with printing.
  • GallardoLUGallardoLU Member Posts: 644
I've been looking at that all week and I cant tell what it is, I'm praying for printing, and being a person who doesn't use stickers this will be a bit of a insanity choice for me if its not printed. do I not sticker it and leave the incorrect window line (and grey piece on the glass)? or do I sticker it and go against my own standards because the set looks wrong with out it.

that had better be a printed piece...

It is a print or a sticker, at first I thought it might be a multi-color mold but a close look and you can see a sliver of trans clear at the end which means print or sticker. If it is a sticker it won't be that bad because it is a cut out with no clear backing (no fog) and it is big enough to ply easily. BUT, it may not be sticker because the inside seems to be grey where stickers are white on the backside, BUT, it may look grey from a lack of light. Hard to tell with this one.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
EDIT: I think this is a print after having a triple look. 1) Lego would not put a sticker in between bricks (it breaks a design law, wedging things between bricks creating stress) and this canopy has print all the way to the bottom. 2) the print does not have a thin white outline like all of the other stickers shown in the picture.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I agree about the between bricks part. I don't think that is something they'd do. But in this case the bricks on the side arent really flush to the canopy since it is curved and the sticker might actually stop just before the tile on the top and might just look better in the render. As for the white line I don't think that is always the case (or rarely). The sticker sheets a lot of time are printed larger than where the sticker is cut so the color goes all the way.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
@graphite I don't know, the curve seems to get flat before going past that slope piece. I also notice the print ends exactly at the bottom rather than having a half millimeter space that stickers leave. Look at all Lego stickers in the past ~15 years, no stickers exactly fit so that there is space for crooked stickers.

£169.99 if the danish price is correct still not happy about a Jan release date!
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,170
£159.99/169.99 seems the going Lego conversion rate for a $200 set these days, comparing the UCS tumbler (yes, different license might not be exactly the same cost to TLG) and UCS B-Wing. Jan 15th release date? Damn it! I have a £200 Metrocentre gift card that only has 3 months left on it. If we get this in Jan, will be get a May 4th offering next year?

Say, I have to wonder when we're talking about whether or not this is minifigure scale, are we judging it by a minifigure's height or width or anything else. Given that a minifigure itself isn't exactly 'to scale' with reality, would a minifigure scale Slave I have to too short, stubby, and with a massive head? ;)

when i check scale on a set i assume a minifig is equal to a 6 foot tall person. width is then forfeit and is why Slave I doesn't fit 3 people in it like the "real" one does.

When I made my "computations" I simply established a simple ratio based off of the minifig size in relation to the 10179 and applied that to the new Slave I.

The only new Star Wars Legos we have bought from the new arrival was the Cantina, my kids and I thought it was pretty cool. We bought a second one and combined the two, making a longer bar, 4 booths and adding band members. It still closes up, and the entrance now actually goes into the bar!
