We've seen numerous system scale Falcons over the years and I could well believe we'd see a re-released UCS Falcon to cover the demand we see for it. Perhaps TLG have encountered problems with the Slave 1 which was penned for the second UCS slot and re-releasing the falcon is a quick solution? Time will tell I suppose.
Who thinks we'll see a new/different radar dish on the EP7 MF?
The officer - General Veers? Looks like him but not entirely sure if it is or just a random Imp officer.

If this really is at the rumored $299 price point, I think there almost has to be a homestead or something else to go along with it. The perspective of the photo does make it look a bit smaller than it likely is, but even so I don't think it is twice as substantial as something like #7965.
Though I know many will be disappointed it's not a UCS model, I'm glad it's a playset. This gives me hope we'll see an Aunt Beru minifigure.
I suppose we'll know everything once it's revealed in a week at Bricks Cascade.
That said, though, that looks like a decent set. Is it the first time that hair-piece has been done in grey (uncle Owen's)?
I also agree with @plasmodium the Jawa eyes are freaky and take away from the figure, just does not look right hopefully this is not what went to production with.
TLG took the cheap way out and put this set out because they know it is in demand...that sucks!!! but it should be expected they are not always going to do the right thing, by collectors. $$$$$ comes first and they will sell enough of these that their decision would seem to be validated. Seen all this happen with Hasbro and I went from $2000 or more a year to barely $100 in 2013. I spent $4k + in Lego last year but can see that going down to just getting 2-3 sets with a decent UCS buy if there is one... I may start going back trough older sets and looking to get into them and than spend my money there.

As for the jawas, I'm more upset about their lack of capes than the size of their eyes! Yes, I have some small brown capes from "The Hobbit", but I still think they should have included them.
We can scratch around and supply them, I guess, but given the premium asking price I don't feel we should have to. If it was a cheap set, sure, I don't mind adding finishing touches to cheap sets - i almost expect to, as I imagine sacrifices have to be made to meet low price points - but with premium priced sets I expect those little details to be included as part of the price.
However, my personal biggest gripe (from what I can see) is the all-over use of plates makes the whole thing look cheaply constructed, and suggests (apart from the little cockpit) it might prove to be one big empty shell with little by way of internal 'guts'.
I don't mind some side plating, but it just looks a bit too 'flimsy' for such a large heavy-duty vehicle. UNLESS of course they've cut these corners/made savings using this technique in order to add value elsewhere in the build - but if so, where? I can't see much to justify the big price tag. I'm hoping for some entertaining inner-chamber sections to fully exploit the volume of space the vehicle contains, but I can't see an awful lot going on here at the moment.
Hopefully, as more images surface we'll see there is a lot more going on, but initially i'm a little bit disappointed, but hoping there's more yet to be revealed.
:o)
I may need to invest in some brown/orange/tan tiles, to flatten out some of the bobble-effect.
The plates which make up the hull look alright to me, and I prefer them to the bricks of the older version. My overall opinion really depends on the inside however, and from what we can see in this photo, it looks rather ugly (but for the cockpit) which is a real shame.
@legoboy, I am beginning to think its true on the UCS Falcon. It's coming back, I can taste it,
From my count, it looks to be about 60 studs long and 30 high, not sure how that compares to the last one?
Also on the very left of the picture there is a a small part of a grey box or maybe a "pointy thing" a bit like what sits outside the Lars Homestead, maybe.
:D
2- I just cannot cannot get over this laziness ....trans yellow tiles just stuck outside over the exterior for windows??? Cheap cheap cheap ... This set better make it up in a big unseen way to sell well
