But i'd equally want it to have lots of 'rooms', a bit like the locations in the TTgames lego star wars video games, cos one large loading bay would be extremely dull. Either way, I'm probably not going to be able to afford it... darn it, why couldn't they release a UCS that I couldn't give a hoot about. Lol

I have #6208 and #6211 sealed still: unless the new B-Wing and and Imperial Star Destroyer have something that makes them must buys I will put the money towards other sets, namely the UCS Sandcrawler and Slave 1. I purchased the new Jabba's sail barge though I have the older one because of the play-ability aspect with all the sides opening up. I still prefer the original sail barge's look to the new one.

Unless you're totally attached to #6211, why not just sell it? You can probably get a minimum of $260 shipped on ebay (probably more). $260 minus 13% in fees, minus $20 shipping is $206. Assuming you paid $100 for #6211, you could pay yourself back for the set and pay for most of the new version #75055.

Keep in mind that if they had made the Cuusoo model, it would have been $1,000. There were over 6,000 parts in that, if memory serves, along with a lot of power functions, it was RC, and it was lit. It was also huge, way, way bigger than anything else LEGO has done.

I would have bought one in a heartbeat for that price at that size, but how many of me are there, really?

Actually have thought about that but would like to see what figures come in the new one.

Other than my 7 year old's Friends sets, she's built everything except for two sets I have yet to get her, I have only built 10 out of the 250 unique sets I own, 316 when counting multiple of same sets, mostly SW. I have not had time until now or a place to put them but working on that now.

As much as I'm afraid you're right, its not completely hopeless, I mean we don't know the number of parts yet. For all we know it could be a 2,500 piece set but have 4 motors, a couple of lights and other Power functions components, and 10 exclusive minifigures! I'm not saying they will, I'm just saying we don't know for sure that they won't as we currently have very limited knowledge of the set.

True. realistically thinking, they never would have released a set that big, think about it. $1,000! Not enough people would be able to afford it for it to be worthwhile. I mean sure, it got 10,000 votes on Cuusoo, but I'm sure many people just looked at it and thought 'Cool! A friggin huge motorized Sandcrawler!" And supported it simply because it was an amazing MOC rather than actually hoping to purchase it. That's my theory anyway.

Yup, only one of you, good thing too! Or the mods would be very... Ah, never mind, excuse my morbid sense of humor ;o)

I'd be fine with the price of the Sandcrawler if it was just a little bigger than the last one but more stable and had power functions. That would be worth it to me.

IMHO Most of us would have (wishful thinking aside) expected TLG to come up with a $250 product , as much as i personally love it , its not the most recognized or loved SW object outside these forums . I think for the $400 SSD , the lower sales were partially to blame for just that reason .

A $350 is as good as it gets .

Plus honestly guys , you do realize its still January right ? Please check your wish list vs your wallets vs your respective wives . I just gave mine a " Honey you don't need to worry " talk in early December ... damn!

Ok just to clarify, I think it should have been pretty obvious that I didn't suggest or expect it to be anything remotely like the amazing fan-made moc sandcrawler. That would be stupid.

I merely said I'd hope, given the price, that it has some functionality/features, i.e. maybe some ambient lighting would be nice, OR perhaps capable of motorizing a little. OR maybe a working crane, OR perhaps a conveyor belt, etc.

Not all of these things, not necessarily powered, certainly nowhere near the moc's vast size or scale.

Basically, what i meant was i don't want to see just a giant sandcrawler-shaped lump of brown bricks on wheels with a couple of basic unfurnished compartments, with a couple unique figs & fillers thrown in to tempt fig-collectors, costing 350 purely because of 'size' (and nothing else).

One thing to consider with piece count is that roughly 1/3 of them will be track/tread bits. At least it will seem that way while building it.

Looking at the prelims of the (new) B-Wing, Snowspeeder & AT-AT, I don't think that you've got anything to worry about...I'm guessing that it will be a 10144 with perhaps a new eye-print for the Jawas ;-)

Imagine a middle ageded man clipping his heals together three times and saying - "Purchase of Droids Scene", "Purchase of Droids Scene", "Purchase of Droids Scene"... The power of wishful thinking.

Not sure when we might hear or see more 'real' details on this but it won't be too long now, this and the possible Slave 1 have to be the most exicting Lego sets this year or me so far.

I may be in the minority on this, but I for one really like the Sandcrawler, it has always been one of my favorite SW vehicles. As I missed out on the previous version I am really looking forward to this. Power functions or not I will be picking one up on day one.

I think there are a lot more of us that missed out on the 1st Sandcrawler. Like you I can't wait to get this, don't know how I missed it last time, I don't remember seeing it and I have a few sets from that period. I have bid on sealed original auctions a few times but prices had gone past what I wanted to spend at the time. $300-$350 on this new version with 2 x the pieces 14-15 figures I am buying 2 because I know my son would want to have one to play with.

Star Wars Rebels
Some interesting info about characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels will be in sets Phantom 75048 and 75053 The Ghost of the next wave of sets LEGO Star Wars:
The set 75053 The Ghost will come with minifigs Kannan Jarrus , which we do not know much of Hera Syndulla a Twi'lek probably family Cham Syndulla seen in Season 1 of the animated series The Clone Wars . The third character is identified Zeb , the faithful companion of the previous two characters and gunner of the ship. A Stormtrooper will also be in the box.
In set 75048 Phantom , the minifig can be seen on the astromech droid accompanied by a box is a priori that 's Ezra Bridger , a young cadet Empire spent at the rebels. This character was already known from the description of the set posted by a commercial site ( see this article ).
Note that according to sources, the information about the contents of each set differ: On Eurobricks , we talk about Kannan Jarrus Hera Syndulla Ezra Bridger and a Stormtrooper in the 75053 set, but Jedi News , which claims to have obtained Info from another source, it is written Ezra Bridger is actually set in the 75048 and Zeb is in the 75053 set.

I'm not too optimistic about this whole idea yet, it looks like something that will just take the place of other potential models that actually appear in the movies. As a Star Wars fan this just doesn't appeal to me. I mean, its just a bunch of non-canon vehicles and characters. besides, wouldn't we all like a Star Wars Imperial series instead of rebels? ;o) They may be very well designed as individual sets but as a whole I think they have exhausted the possibilities for a successful EU sub-theme. Oh well, its probably better for my wallet anyway.

This isn't something new really. The cartoon is just replacing the Clone Wars cartoon which also produced some sets that were not in the movies.

^ Exactly, I didn't care for CW, but this seems worse imo. I was happy that the CW series had come to an and so we would get more OT and PT sets, but apparently that's not the case!

^ CW and the Game sets that have come out in the past will pale in comparison once the Disney machine gets going. Rebels, new movies, spin off movies, potential Bounty hunter show (if still in the works). I really liked the CW cartoon and was glad some of the sets were done. I really like the SW universe in general so if the new content comes out with some cool designs and LEGO implements them well I'll be happy.

Rancorbait, I beg to differ, I loved the CWs because it gave me something new to watch that was in the SW universe and I could sit with my kids and watch a good half hour of SW every week. I like the development of the Clones, and especially the last two seasons I thought they did a great job showing us how Anakin was slowly being turn to the dark side by Palpatine. I know we have to put up with a couple of unknowns, but it means getting new figures and new ships from Ralph McQuarrie's initial drawings for the OT. I may not buy everything but I am looking forward to what they come up with and having the chance to add to my SW Lego collection.

@graphite Sure, there was nothing wrong with the show, it was the Lego, many of the sets could have been done in PT form, but were done in CW versions instead, making them less compatible with the other sets IMO, the minifigs were the biggest issue for me however, and I hope they don't continue the 'anime eyes' trend in the rebel sets.

I have the previous AT-AT #8129, ISD #6211, B-Wing #6208, all that will have new version coming out this year and don't see how the new version are better than the previous ones, and in the case of the ISD the new one is suppose to be smaller, though the part count is similar.

Visually they did a better job of balancing ship and playset than the last ISD did. It looks like a smaller-scale UCS until you open it.

According to a "confidential" image for the new ISD #75055, the piece count is 1,175, a bit smaller than the piece count of 1,359 currently cited by Brickset.

I say "confidential", because I wouldn't be at all surprised if Lego intentionally releases these to generate interest (actually, I think it's probable).
