Chassis differences between 9398 and 41999

I noticed while building #41999 that the piece to keep in place the axle from the drive train motor is different than the #9398 (step 53 on book 1 of #41999).
#9398 uses a Cross Block 90°/Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular while #41999 uses a H to V Beam 90°/Technic, Pin Connector Perpendicular 2 x 2 Bent.

While I like the piece on the #41999 as it allows me to attache the hook from the winch, it is not keep in place as good as it was a an axle connector. Probably not many Technic expert on this forum, but I hope at least @Crowkillers has an answer :)

I think Lego actually switched that part out in the actual 9398 sets in the later releases... I remember reading something earlier this year... Why they switched it, I honestly do not know...

My 9398 was purchased early so probably first batches. I did some researches it might have been because of some people using the piece "up side down" and therefore preventing the motor to run...

Yes, that is exactly what it was... It was a foolproof way to prevent any damage if people put the axle from the motor through the x-opening in the perpendicular connector by mistake...
