Finally got my #41999 delivered from S@H (They were on backorder, due to an issue with my initial order). The boxes are so nice! and are in perfect condition.

Would love to open one but they will probably go in the pile with all my other larger sets waiting for the Lego room to be built before I crack them open.

New shipments of 41999 arrived in both Toronto Lego stores over the weekend. Not bad to grab for double VIP points and the holiday freebie.

I don't get why NA got so many more of these. No sign of them here since mid-August.:(
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^ It could be that NA were assigned the ones (3000 was it?) that had to be repackaged.
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
^ What did I miss? Why were some repackaged?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^So long ago I can't remember, but I know that they were.

I have in my mind it was something to do with box quality, but also can't remember!

Count yourself lucky. My box was riddled with holes, small punctures that almost went all the way through, caused by a Hot Dog Stand polybag that was put on top of the Crawler box, then the box was probably flipped over, with the Crawler box on top of the polybag.

^-Yeah, me too, but then again I managed to get one so I'm not complaining.

^They let you buy all 4? If so, that's quite nice of them.

One employee at a store I visited attempted (unsuccessfully) to enforce a "1 per household" limit. Like it's any of their business who I live with. And although I don't, what if I had two kids that each wanted one? I can understand a 1 per person limit, but a 1 per household limit would seem generally unenforceable and a bit arbitrary relative to the online limit of 2 per person (and not per household) and relative to many other store policies of 1 per person.

Also, I was always curious... when a 1 per person limit is imposed at the store, is that per day? Per week, etc? Because I highly doubt an employee would remember most customers a week later, or maybe even a day later.

I got 2 of them at the Sacramento store yesterday. They had 4 on the floor and more in the back.
  • dneuldneul Member Posts: 369
Stl store had many in the back today and a few on the floor. Limit of 2
  • VaderXVaderX Member Posts: 220
I picked up my limit of (two) per day, today.. they had about 8 on the shelf and probably a few more in the back room.

I tried my best to buy a third because this is an awesome set for unique parts. The employee was not very forgiving to my 45 min each way car trip story :(.
yes it really is a 45 min trip... I'm hoping for the best this coming weekend for another shot.

He stated they have been very strict on this particular set due to it's limited production and aftermarket sellers scooping them up and trying to flip them.

^Try going once in the morning, then at night. Employee shift change and all. Not that I would ever think about doing this :)

sorry... didn't mean to imply I bought all 4... not THAT greedy ;D lol

Went Tuesday to the Sunrise,FL store to buy a couple of Modular buildings and saw 41999 on the shelf right by them. I could not believe how nice the box is! Needless to say that I changed my mind almost immediately and drop the modulars to get this. Even though I've never built a Technic set before, this was impossible to let pass. This is an amazing set!

The manager told me they had more in the back, but not many. He said TLG instructed them to not take any phone orders on these and he mentioned himself that was due to resellers asking $500 for these on eBay. He also mentioned that this is probably the last shipment they will get.

I got one for myself to build and I am very happy with the opportunity to get this at retail. I would never buy this on the aftermarket. While I was there, two more were sold, so this will definitely not last longer.

It is a neat set and the Box alone is awesome, too bad they will not do this with other sets.

Hello LEGO employees reading this thread.
Please put "exclusive" or Limited" sets, or really any over $100 or so into nice boxes like this one, I am sure most of us here will gladly pay another few bucks for a nicer box.

And shrink wrap it. Sure it's a minor security assist, but it also helps protect the box from shelf wear.

And then put in another box, with a window on it.
  • nkx1nkx1 Member Posts: 719
And then, instead of Lego, please load the box with gold nuggets. TIA!

^Made of chicken. BBQ sauce INSIDE a bag please, we don't need another episode like we had in 1996. I'm sure no one will ever forget the mess on that fateful 3rd of March, the horror.

Wow Samiam391, you must be ridiculously filthy rich to want Lego instead of gold or diamonds! Or crazy (jk).

^I was still thinking you were talking about chicken, even when legomaniac said made with chicken, I simply thought he meant made with real chicken...
I couldn't help it but to be reminded of the 43 McNuggets.

Are we still talking about 41999? Just checking... :)
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
@coolpix, yes, Chicken McNuggets are still $4.99 for a 20 piece.

3 pristine boxes on the shelf in Cincinnati.

The ebay price on these has gone down to $400 and under now. They seem to get posted all the time. I remember people in the reseller thread saying these would just keep going up but they seemed to level off at $400 tops. I was waiting to sell mine next month but seems like all of these "found" ones might not help me.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
I recall one of my TLG mates saying to me at the time of release that she thought the resellers were mad in thinking they were going to go sky high. It's a set that's going to get forgotten about.

Of course there will be the odd completest searching for one next year or the year after, but generally it'll only be those around at the time who caught up in the hype that will remember it.
