Bought The Lego Movie junior novel for my son today, and am now afraid to read it. Wondering how much of the movie plot is in here.. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/lego-kate-howard/1116887405?ean=9780545624640

Turns out the 'toys' are indeed the cups.

Agree! I have always told my son not to ruin a book by seeing a movie first....so when he begged for it today at B&N well, it was tough!

It's the 'next' Happy Meal thing. I'm not sure how long they usually last?

  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
My guess is 4 weeks from Monday....first week in February.

    And "Cup Stacking" is trending...

If Will Ferrall is involved I believe the Movie will be a huge success, and could play for months maybe into summer.

According to the DK book there will be five Unikitties in sets. Unikitty from #70803 and Biznis Kitty from #70809, we know about. I posted about Astro Kitty in the Benny spaceship thread:
    http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/250102/#Comment_250102
There are two more. Queasy Kitty, which likely comes in the #70810 Metalbeard's Sea Cow set, and Angry Kitty.

^ I like that we'll be getting more of the 1x1 dot with hole piece in sets, despite the game sets being retired. Looks like they are adding dark red, and there are yellow ones in some of the new emergency sets.

I'm loving those... and I didn't realise there was a mini-series of these.

It's essentially Lego does 'Hello Kitty' meets 'My Little Pony'.

    Clever, clever!

Well that mini fig certainly has one enormous pair of buttocks. they may be flat but they are still Huge!
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
This may be the slapstick appreciation in me talking, but that farmer is crying out for a rear goat charge.

I didn't know this movie was more like stop motion than CG. Looks really cool in the commercials, I'll have to clear February 7th off my calendar!!

Wow look at the voice over cast too, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Leeam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks......should be a funny movie!!

Been looking for the figures in the UK, but no one has them yet. Just loads of Series 11. Any idea exactly when they are due out?

I was looking through one of the DK Lego Movie kids' books and saw this:

    http://i.imgur.com/4HvZCKrl.jpg

I'm guessing it would be a second wave set. According to the junior novelization of the movie, it plays a pretty big part.

Yeah, this "Kitty" is my daughter's main focus in these sets.

Yes, I believe it was confirmed to be #70814 Emmet's Constructo-Mech.

The sets posted by Huw on the front page news.

My word. Jaw -> floor. I must have #70814.

This is rapidly become the surprise theme of the year for me.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
^ Yep, i was quite surprised at the size of that thing. I'm not sure if I'm a big enough fan of mechs to buy it for what it is, but it looks like it has some fantastic pieces... and i'm not normally one to buy a set for parts alone.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
Has anyone seen #70811 at a US retail store? A look at Google Shopping suggests it's a Wal-Mart exclusive but I rarely shop there so haven't had a chance to check.

This is the one TLM set I'm interested in (for the secondary build for my son's City collection), so it's a bit of a bummer that it seems to be an exclusive. I suppose I should be thankful it's not exclusive to TRU.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,391
^ I have only seen it at the LEGO Store so far.

I bought my #70811 at Walmart last week. Great truck for the city.

My glider thing turned up today. I really like it - it's a small set but 3 minifigs and a horse, and I got a spare moustache!

#70811 Flying Flusher is the Walmart exclusive
#70812 Creative Ambush is the Target exclusive
#70813 Rescue Reinforcements is the TRU exclusive

Agh, didn't realize they would be doing store exclusives. Been looking for the Flying Flusher as well, but Wally World's out of the way. Might need to make a special trip out there.

I saw the new sets in person at WM and still wasn't compelled to buy any of them! I think its ironic that the worst Lego sets based on a movie are going to be the sets based on a Lego movie!

I think the picture is in this one ...

Although they seem to have brought out so many books about TLM already, it is difficult to remember which one it was! It is really being milked.

We've seen the set in the book @CCC linked to, but the image I linked is the first boxart image. That image is also the confirmation of the included minifigures.

Picked up #70805 at Target tonight @ RRP. Lego shelves were pretty empty! Saw a display for TLM CMF's but it was empty - sure glad I have a full set.

So far I've really enjoyed the sets. Cool features and fun to build. Excited for Benny's spaceship the most. I'm sure after I see the movie I'll love the sets even more. And I 'll actually get to see it next Saturday aa I just got my invite to the premier in LA/Westwood (I work in entertainment). I hate premiers, but I'll go to this one even though it's at 11am on a Saturday.

Can I just say, the more I look at these, the more I really want the Cuckoo/funky coloured one. There's something totally twisted about having a happy fun land with a menacing figure in it. I love it.

Yup. That is one of the few in the line that has captured my son's interest. That and the 'trash chomper'. Both of them are just so 'different', and that is what he enjoys...that and he really does want that unikitty. :-)
