    Hurrah!
Let's stimulate kids to go eat really disgusting, horrible tasting junk 'food', and imprint in their brain a craving for a diet consisting mainly of non-nutritive dietary components, and is high on sugar and saturated (trans) fat. Long live obesity! Long live diabetes!

Nothing wrong with eating some fast food once in a while, but McDonalds advertising kids meals luring them in with toys is not LEGODT, in my opinion. I don't get it that people go mental when Lego is handed out with a tabloid (what ever you think of the quality of, and type of journalism practised by such printed press) in the UK featuring page three girls to the point that TLG caves in to the criticism expressed by such conservative uptight religiously inspired nutters. Since the objections of these crusaders were not primarily aimed at bad journalism and the practised standards of that type of journalism, but at some busty girls showing their tits. While at the same time, handing out toys with fast food, which eaten on a regular basis is essentially a slow assassin, hardly anyone seems to mind?!

    ps.
Next to the fact that the thought of the undefined particular stench of a McDonalds restaurant already makes me nauseous.

I know most people seem to be raving about these sets, but honestly they do almost nothing for me. I do like a couple of the alternate builds I've seen, but for the most part, meh.

Honestly, there isn't a single theme released as part of the 2014 first half wave that I'm excited about this year. Guess I'll be spending more money on parts and pieces instead and hoping for a better 2nd-half wave

Burgers in the UK come in polybags? :-P

No, they just taste like it

I feel much the same. But I'm glad the theme exists because it's unlikely LEGO would have released an ice cream truck or plumber's van in the City theme. On the other hand, those two sets are a bit overpriced if buying them only for the City-like vehicles.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
the ice cream truck is the only definite buy for me. maybe the plumber truck. unlikely I'll get anything else, although a couple of them look like possible parts packs at the right discount
  • LegogeekLegogeek Member Posts: 714
    No, he said Pylobags ;-)
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
These look awesome, the minifigures in this theme are of a really high standard, the must buys for me are the ice cream truck and the minifigure line, I may also get a few more sets according to my budget (hopefully I win the lottery :-P)

I don't think that there will actually be any polybags in the kids meals. There will probably be just non-Lego vehicles or other toys that just look like they're made with Lego, but they're no different from any other cheap toy, like the Lego Batman kids meal toys a few years ago.

Well folks, hate to break the bad news, but I just found the new Lego Movie figs in a TRU in Greenville, NC. Of course I had to pick up quite a few. They look great so far! Will report again after I finish opening them.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ why is that bad news?

Because MY Toys"R"Us don't have 'em yet. :P

Yup, it is sad that they are not in all TRU on the same day.
So far I like all 16 of the figs! Hard to pick a favorite. I did not expect to like them so much. Panda Guy is my favorite, but others are close seconds.

Me and my kids can not wait for this movie to come out. My oldest son is especially excited that the next series of minifigures are from the movie.
  • ninjagolightlyninjagolightly Member Posts: 140
I'm not up on whatever's been revealed about the actual plot of the movie, but seeing those bad guys that look like black cubes, I am thinking it would have been such a great opportunity to roll out system pieces in pearl dark gray/titanium metallic. It's my favorite LEGO color and it's a shame that it's been confined to constraction and Technic and minifig parts... think how boss those evil cubes would look in lustrous PDG rather than basic black! Sigh.

I found the sets at TRU today! Lord Business's Lair and Melting Room were also there. Couldn't pick any up, unfortunately!

I saw a single set sitting on a shelf in Target today. I didn't see any of the other sets, so I don't know if there are more available there.

I saw that one last night at a Target. It didn't scan, and a guy in electronics said they had been put out by mistake and that they could not sell it until January 1. He took it and the other one off the shelf and took them away :(

I was able to get the Riddler Dragster set, though, so not a total loss.
  • ninjagolightlyninjagolightly Member Posts: 140
TRU has pictures of the Getaway Glider up. I personally had not seen photos of that one yet, maybe I missed them... is it a TRU exclusive?

Apparently these are available in TRU France along with 2014 Star Wars. Not sure about the other themes yet.

All sets in my TRU (US) store today along with several boxes of minifigs.
Oh, and they were at RRP. Merry Christmas to me!

So, what's the story @Aanchir, do we have a new color from LEGO? The Velma Staplebot fig has legs which are not flesh nor medium dark flesh (Bricklink color names). They are a bit peach in color.

where is the set for sale in the uk, as i cant see it on the lego web site?
  • khmellymelkhmellymel Member Posts: 1,313
^ I've checked both [email protected] and a number of different shops in Edinburgh and Cheltenham and have yet to see them in the UK. Anyone else know differently?
  • Wil348Wil348 Member Posts: 240
Strange, I saw them on UK [email protected] last night....perhaps they were pulled?
  • khmellymelkhmellymel Member Posts: 1,313
Strange, I see it now! I'm on a different device now tho. Under themes The Lego Movie appears as available now, although I cant seem to find them if I search by new.
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
My local lego store in leeds had all of the lego movie sets as well as the new superheroes sets. I would've picked up some of the movie sets and figures had I brought more money. :-/
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
Very peculiar... I have no problem finding the LEGO Movie sets at all, I can find them all both under the theme and under the new category. I'm using IE11 on a laptop btw.

That said, UK [email protected] has been a bit 'weird' for the last couple of days now. It's like the new sets are just being uploaded by some guy that got bored halfway through the process - at least one new set from most themes appears to be missing still for me, which is most peculiar.

@Legofanscott - I am praying that this conjecture is well founded, it would seem that there is a good chance from what has been written on the Brick Fan: http://www.thebrickfan.com/the-lego-movie-summer-2014-sets-revealed/.
