Both sets revealed are surprisingly good and very original. I am looking forward to seeing the rest, even though I am going to pass on Cloud Cuckoo and Cycle Chase.

^ Image not appearing for me @rancorbait ;-)

Before I was only thinking about picking a few of these up, granted before I had only seen the vehicle one. Oddly this restores my hope of this theme along with CMF 12! Great source of some extremely rare parts in a variety of colors! Also good to see these colors in a non Friends theme!

Can defiantly see them spanning the ENTIRE LEGO world within this movie! Cant wait to see what sort of easter eggs they put into it as well! I would love to be observing a scene and gasp to think I actually own that set from like 7 years ago!

^ Yes, and without a cape.

Edit: Never mind his cape is just grey, kind of hard to see :-)
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
    Definitely works @rancorbait ;-)
Man, I'm gonna have to pick this set up too - I actually really like it! Ooh, is that a new minifig shoulder armour piece on Lord Business? If so, then yes please! :-)
  • rancorbaitrancorbait Member Posts: 1,842
think it is. I'm loving the cape!

^ Now to put on my 'drooling over new set' voice... Luhrrrrrrrrrr.

Oh yes! I didn't notice the cape, but yes, the one on Lord Business - looking like the longest minifig size cape ever produced! I can already think of a use for it elsewhere - regal kings and queens!

Notice the unicorn from Fool's Palace is wearing glasses in this set? Looks like the alternate face printings of the TMNT line are beginning to rub off on other themes... Gotta be a good thing :-)

And trans-clear army men minifig bases being used as minifig-trapping ice! Love it!

Oh my, my head's just exploded into thousands of Lego pieces...

    ^ Ice, or glue?

^ You might be right actually... but then again #70804 references ice. But glue would probably make more sense in this set thinking about it. Either way, always good to see more pieces like it being used! :-)
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
Definitely glue. There appears to be a brick-built tube of super-glue on top of the main structure, which is connected to some sort of glue cannon at the bottom.

The ridiculousness of Lord Business' legs and headpiece is awesome.

These sets are awesome for allowing children to use their imaginations and have great play value imho. Also a good source of parts!

The best set yet! The more that keep being shown, the better they get. I don't know why but this theme is awesome. Probably because it is a reflection of core LEGO values like imagination and creativity. It also reminds me of LEGO Universe. Lord Business is trying to glue the LEGO world together, that is hilarious and a great plot for the film. I like the super glue tube, 9V battery, glued police officers, and the Luchador is a Master Builder being held for gluing as well? Lord Business in a sort of power armor and Emmet continuing to show a variety of expressions makes this a excellent set. I can't wait to see the other 10 being released in January!

B&N has that listed as Ice Cream Machine.

I need to find me those boots! Could end up being customs.

This theme may even force me onto buying cmf's. Very impressed so far.

The quality of these sets is astonishing. Here is yet another winner. The trans-clear army men bases, that headdress, the shoulder armour. Best of all though is that battery, what a great little build!

That's a fantastic set. Really loving these so far. Didn't think I'd end up picking up many of the sets but this one is a definite yes.

The Lego Movie sets seem to be amazing, I need to see all the sets to decide which one to get.
  • KingDaveKingDave Member Posts: 973
Could the trans-clear bases be globs of the glue that is the supposed weapon of choice of the big bad guy?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Yay, this looks great, mad and quirky! I love it. And it includes a Vitruvius minifig by the looks of it :-)

Once you see all of them are you sure you won't want to buy all of them? ;-)

Heh, that's exactly how I feel about it. So far all the sets I've seen from the LEGO Movie theme have been great. I'm sure the rest will be too, which means I'll probably end up buying more.

Out of curiosity who is the white robed man?
    Sort of looks like...God? :P
Who knows that was my first thought but I Highly doubt that. Could be some old guy that is wearing a robe for some reason? Anyone know I'm very curious! And these sets look very good so far! is that also the Grandma from the new series 12 in a cop outfit? Interesting!
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
@tmgm528 - The white robed figure you refer to is Vitruvius, a wizard and master builder voiced by Morgan Freeman in the film.

Oh wow. I'm just seeing both of these sets now. Quite amazing so far, and far beyond what I thought they would do for a line I had written completely off.

At first I was 'wow' but 30 minutes later I just think it looks ridiculous. I mean - what would you do with it? It aint sitting on a shelf - I see no play value from it, a parts pack is the obvious answer but that seems a terrible waste of a production slot to me.

Hopefully the movie means that all the sets will be massively different because if they're all like this it will be a major disappointment for a theme I had high hopes for.

I have one daughter that will HAVE to have this set sheerly based on the female minifig. She is amazing. She saw her in the series 12 release, but this outfit will send her over the top.

As for what you do with it? You play with it!
I have another daughter that is going to go nuts over a unicorn.
The set is so fun, and so over the top, and does have a ton of play value. It has three traditional minifigs, but also a large snail and a large unicorn, and something that is flinging 'crystal flowers'. It looks like some sort of cloud candy/city.

The fact that they are doing something so beyond girlie in a traditional Lego line is very, very, very, surprising.

The first set seen, #70808 Super Cycle Chase, had me thinking. Hum. So more Super Hero type vehicle centered conflict with Lego brand minifigs. No sale.

However these new sets are really enchanting, now that we are beyond "must have a vehicle." The designers have really gone with the quirky story line and interesting colors. If the movie is a hit, the line should sell fantastically.

The "castle wall with window panel" 60808 in green is yummy. Hope it is olive green rather than lime green. One final word - UNI-KITTY.

It looks like Bright Yellowish Green (aka Lime) to me.

Ooh lookey lookey... official site has the sets... kinda

I'm loving the cactus. Such a simple build but brilliant. I don't think I'll personally be buying any of these but it's great to see such creativity.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Hmm. From my angle, it looks like those first two may have been the best sets in the bunch. *sigh* What I'm seeing from those sets with the red cover, most of those do not seem that they will appeal to my kids. The ice cream truck has some potential. Beyond that 70801 may have a bit of potential and 70802 I am curious about the lizard/dino tail. That's about it.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Wow the TLM theme ends up with 14 sets! Plus the S12 Minifigures. TLG is giving their movie lots of love and attention. I'm being more and more drawn to these as more pics get revealed. The SWAT 4x4 looks great and would make a nice addition to any City. Anxious to see what else is under the red tarps.

I notice the CMF's aren't labelled S12! Although that could change between now and release.

I do love the Evil Lair and some of the sneak peaks look promising. I'm glad that (for me) the range has improved since the first candy floss offering. It looks like there might be alot of droid things in the sets which actually makes the two in the CMF range more interesting to me.

Some of the sets look very steampunky. Interesting.

This is the stongest retail theme for 2014 so far.
  • klatu003klatu003 Member Posts: 729
Oops. Looks like I spoke too soon about the theme. More vehicles and mechs. But they look like quirky vehicles and mechs. My city will need an ice cream van.

#70813 looks a lot like a Transformer type mech to me from what I can see.

I reckon we'll see more of these getting revealed in the coming weeks though!

#70801 Looks quite interesting almost like a pod racer. And the robotic skeleton looks quite interesting.

It seems pictures of almost all the sets are in the database now. I must say the designs are rather interesting, I'd never have thought of a flying ice cream truck!
  • emilewskiemilewski Member Posts: 482
The ice cream truck looks like a transformer, while interesting I was hoping for something more traditional for my city.

    I ***need*** #70804!
The sets look really quirky, I really can't wait for this theme!
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
My son was left drooling over each of these sets. The fun thing is that they really look like something he would have come up with using his own imagination. They just look like a lot of fun and I can't wait to buy them all. I suspect Lego is going to make a lot of money off of these.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,907
They all seem to follow the same 'theme' of a converted vehicle chasing the black cubey robot thing. Apart from a couple. Whilst they look fun, I think I can safely stick to the CMF line and not feel like I'm missing out. Was hoping for Morgan Freeman in a smaller set though.

70813 Woohoo! Return of the red apple!
@LostInTranslation I agree, 70811 and 70812 look very steampunkish (from what we can see so far).
