I also want the sub, I feel the sub would have been a better choice than the sea cow, but I assume the sea cow was chosen for the marketability to people who collect the boats (I do like the idea of having it displayed next to my LotRs pirate ship)

I don't know how much of its audience is expected to be from the traditional LEGO Pirates community, but between its appeal to Pirates fans, its appeal to LEGO Movie fans, and its appeal to Steampunk fans, it probably has a fairly large audience.

The sub, by comparison, would mostly just appeal to LEGO Movie fans — it's a bit too wacky to fit in any established genre. It was designed to look like a hodgepodge of conflicting ideas, and presented in the movie as a bit of a creative disaster. That could definitely detract from its sales potential, even among people who enjoyed the movie.

My family got the Sea Cow on Saturday and built it on Sunday. It's really a beautiful model! Enormous, too.

Not saying the sea cow doesn't look good and completely agree it's the easier sale, but personally I'd have preferred to see the sub... It then again I want more cloud cuckoo land so you know :-P

The thing I want most from the movie is the Octan Delivery spaceship.

I was looking at the LEGO Movie Videogame walkthroughs, and there are bits and pieces of the instruction manual for it in the game. Anyone know how to get the full instructions? Skip to around 13 minutes in.

Am I the only one who wants more cloud cuckoo land sets? I know it's stupid and immature but I would love to have a set based on the dog that opens to a meeting room for the master builders. Obviously it would need scaling down from how it was in the movie but it would still be a great addition to the theme

You're definitely not alone! I would LOVE more Cloud Cuckoo Land sets. Especially, the dog area so it can hold all my CMFs...um, I mean Master Builders for daily briefings.

It would be great if it came with a laser gate too

I noticed that the Sea Cow is listed on the Smyths website (not in stock at the moment). This means you'll be able to get it at 20% off when they do their discount weekends.

^ It's also listed below RRP (the Irish RRP, anyway) at €219. This has given me hope that it could drop into the €1XX at some stage, which is what I'd need to happen for me to bite.

My view of the Sea Cow is that it's more toy than model. The same goes of all the movie sets really. I love me my big sailing ships (like the IF, for example), but this set simply screams "toy" to me and I equate it to something like a Fisher Price Imaginext pirate set.

I don't feel this way about ships like the IF though, or even the QAR/BP, so maybe (and again, this is for me), the whole Sea Cow thing tipped itself just too far towards toy on the Model vs. Toy scale.

I had zero intention of buying the bizarro Sea Cow. Then I saw it built in person. It's definitely one of those models you have to see in the flesh to fully appreciate. Pictures and even looking at the box don't do it justice at all. Reminds me of the #10212 in that sense.

Still not sure I like it enough for $250, but I'm not at least considering it

It was mostly said in that vein yeah. I can't imagine having something like the Sea Cow in my foyer, but I could the Imperial Frigate. We each have a line, and that's mine when it comes to Lego creations being viewed as a model vs. a toy. Of course, if my boys really wanted the Sea Cow to play with and they saved for it, so be it. I wouldn't let my prejudice against any set get in the way of their fun.

I tried to build a double-decker couch, but can't quite figure out how the backs attach to the lower seats. I'm like 90% there. Not too hard to figure out from the high-res pictures.

Yeah it didnt look too difficult but I know I will not have the extra pieces so Id like to check it out so I know what to order.
Just as a matter of interest does anyone have a definitive part list for the double decker couch?
