Lord help me - UniKitty. I really liked her before I saw the movie. Now, not so much.

Sorry if this is old news, but in Argos this morning I noticed that the product description for 70807 Metalbeard's Duel appeared to be a description of the Seacow, which I hadn't seen before. (Sorry for the blurry picture)

Then we can hope to see MetalBeard's Sea Cow at a discount :D

She was actually one of my favorite characters in the movie, along with Emmet, Vitruvius, and Batman. lol

Has anyone found out yet if the Sea Cow is considered a LEGO exclusive and not discountable?

@Russell844, Argos had MetalBeard's Sea Cow description for MetalBeard's Duel, so maybe its a wide release. Why else will Argos have the description for the Sea Cow?

I love Unikitty, but much prefer Queasy Kitty and Angry Kitty (or whatever she's called!).

Because someone that works for them cut the wrong description out of the advertising file?

^ But why would an exclusive description be in an advertising file for Argos?
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
Thought the Seacow was available from the 17th for VIP members?
  • msandersmsanders Member Posts: 1,017
^ I picked up my Seacow this morning from Lego Stores. It was in the display window and looks incredible. They didn't have any on the shelves so I had to ask for one. Its £169.99 and with my £140 worth of VIP points, was a bargain purchase!

@msanders, How did you manage to have £140 on your VIP card, the most I got is £30 in total.

Well I guess you have to spend more to save.

Because they cut it from the wrong place online? Or lego supply them with a generic description file that contains all sets? I don't know.

I know they have made mistakes numerous times in the past, putting wrong images against wrong descriptions or vice versa.

Yep this is all I'm wanting since this set is way too high for my liking. I'm just waiting on someone to post the build so I can see what pieces I need to buy to finish the couch,

UniKitty - First she force farts rainbows, then lets loose the rage machine. I think she reminds me of some bad encounters with fake-faced females in my life.

Will Arnett's Batman was hysterical - "I'll text you."

Just had a email about early access to the Seacow.

Opened my Sea cow box. The instruction 'booklet' is one rather large, nicely presented book. The box is full to the brim. Looking forward to building this.

Saw the assembled Sea Cow in the Newcastle/Metrocentre branch - it is massive!

Tried to cash in my grand opening postcard to see what the freebie was for the first 200. Apparently I was too late for today, they supposedly have 200 per day all this week and there was a 300 person queue for opening today (must be the half-term effect), and they all went instantly this morning.

Eurozone is screwed by Lego pricing on the Sea Cow.
€249.99 is crazy, UK price £169.99 GBP = €207.27 and US price is even cheaper, $249.99 = €182.39 Ouch. Also UK and Ireland (maybe other Eurozone countries too, I didn't check) are limited to one, US limited to 2.

I love the Sea Cow and am definitely ordering one on the weekend to build, but I wish there was a fairer exchange rate.

I tried to build a double-decker couch, but can't quite figure out how the backs attach to the lower seats. I'm like 90% there. Not too hard to figure out from the high-res pictures.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
A double-decker couch, you know-so everyone can watch TV together!

It looks like the Emmet that is included in Benny's spaceship set is the aluminum foil disguise, Awesome!

I'm allowed a smallish set after going to see the film on the weekend, so it's between Metalbeard's duel and the Ice Cream Machine.

I got 5 or 6 of those in my bag when I bought a couple PAB cups like 2 weeks ago. Kept one and gave the rest to kids in the LUG.

Returned 2 sets of the happy meal cups after wrestling with whether or not to keep them for my son to drink out of. Got back the $37 bucks or so I spent so I'm glad nothing was lost but it bothered me enough that these cups were not BPA free. $37 more to spend on actual LEGO Movie sets.

I love the cups. Only missing the last two (Vitruvius and President Business). I'm only keeping them as collector's items though and not using them haha.
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
Only missing Vitruvius and Metal beard...and yeah I'm thinking more just for collecting than using.

After viewing a detailed review of the Sea Cow on youtube, I think I'm going to pass on this set. The set initially piqued my interest because I like large ships, but this one is so wacky that I simply can't get interested. To add to the disappointment, for being such a large set it seems to lack many unique or intriguing features, at least in my judgment. I really wanted to like it when I saw the initial pictures a month or so ago, but I just can't bring myself to spend (waste) many hours of my time building something that would yield marginal, if any, satisfaction.

So anyway, there's yet another (somewhat negative) opinion of the Sea Cow. I'm glad folks take the time to post such reviews; they saved me $250!

Am I the only one who wants more cloud cuckoo land sets? I know it's stupid and immature but I would love to have a set based on the dog that opens to a meeting room for the master builders. Obviously it would need scaling down from how it was in the movie but it would still be a great addition to the theme
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
There doesn’t seem much love over on ebay for the Seacow considering its current VIP exclusive status. I was watching an auction that ended at £160, meaning a £30.80 loss after selling it for £10 less than RRP, then ebay and paypal swallow 13% of the final value. Someone else is selling for £195 + £10 postage. The postage will cost them a tenner with adequate insurance, so they’re 75p after ebay listing and ebay/paypal commission fees.

It is a great looking set, if you like wacky.

@Shib I would love more cloud cuckoo land sets, the dog would be great. I like the movie sets I don't see why all the hate for them. They are weird and stuff but after I saw the movie, I understood why they were like that.

I want the sub. That would be a fun build and fun to play with.

I would love that Batmobile/tank and for some reason I really like the motorcycles that the robots are riding on when they are chasing Emmet.

The dual prop cop helicopter in the first chase would be awesome, also I agree the batmobile would be great. It should be the next ucs.

I also want the sub, I feel the sub would have been a better choice than the sea cow, but I assume the sea cow was chosen for the marketability to people who collect the boats (I do like the idea of having it displayed next to my LotRs pirate ship)

I don't know how much of its audience is expected to be from the traditional LEGO Pirates community, but between its appeal to Pirates fans, its appeal to LEGO Movie fans, and its appeal to Steampunk fans, it probably has a fairly large audience.

The sub, by comparison, would mostly just appeal to LEGO Movie fans — it's a bit too wacky to fit in any established genre. It was designed to look like a hodgepodge of conflicting ideas, and presented in the movie as a bit of a creative disaster. That could definitely detract from its sales potential, even among people who enjoyed the movie.

My family got the Sea Cow on Saturday and built it on Sunday. It's really a beautiful model! Enormous, too.

    Where is that from?
  • msandersmsanders Member Posts: 1,017
Well, I bought the Sea Cow on day 1 and it's a lovely build. Same great details and a really fun build. It's huge as well and I can use it to battle my Imperial ship!
