For some reason or another there is quite often a sale here in America. I for one do not ever pay full price for any non essential item so the sales actually get me to shop!
We went to one store that didn't even know they were have a sale! My wife and I filled up two carts and headed to the register. My wife asked if the sale was starting today and the cashier said "there is no sale on LEGO". We had to get the manager involved who called another TRU to see if they were having a sale. This whole process took about half an hour. In the end she just tried to ring up 2 of the same sets and sure enough they came up on sale.
At TRU, I know that if you scan a product that qualifies for BOGO or another promotion, it will be displayed on the viewscreen. This is how I figured out that baseplates were eligible for the last TRU BOGO sale even though I wouldn't have considered them to be "construction sets."
If the machine approves it, it's good. If not, good luck!
Very interesting....
Most of the TRU stores now have a pile of the Creator Lighthouse that was supposed to be free in last month's BOGO sale, probably just dumped in a pile on a shelf in the LEGO section. Most stores didn't get them on time, if you recall, and so they gave out this poor Hero Factory promo pack (zero bricks!) I took the HF pack back with my receipts and asked if I could exchange them for the Lighthouses and they let me (the HF packs show as more expensive, which probably helped). So if you have those useless Hero packs from last month, go give it a shot. I got three.
