I noticed yesterday the official release date is apparently Jan. 14 and the VIP 2 week early option begins Jan 1. So it looks like it will not be a Christmas Day under the tree option. I believe it was the email announcement from Lego that had that date but I already deleted it so I can't double check the source.

Maybe not this year, but for the next five years after this one...

I thought I read that the VIP date was December 16, but I can't find where I saw that now.

I would speculate on the inevitable Police Precinct, but I wonder if they are saving that one for the potential theme-ender.

At the rate these Modulars are selling, I don't think we will see a theme ender any time soon!? I hope they continue for another 20 years!

Reading this thread from the begin, i must say I am quite impressed by the power to predict the future that some here seem to have:

What, and I don't get any points? :(
Well, we all know you don't predict the future... you KNOW the future! So you get points for knowing! :)

We probably won't be able to get it at any discount.

I went on Saturday and up in front by the projection screen was a small table with the new Maersk ship and the Parisian Restaurant and two actual LEGO employees from Billund showing them off (I think I recognized one of them from a designer video). No idea if they were also there on Sunday.

Wow, what a beauty! I just gotta get TH and PC and then it's time for this new King (or Queen?) of modulars!

Some speculated that it might not look so nice to attach another modular to the right, but I think it might just look great with MS since that also has a lower wall on the side.

Anyone care to photoshop that combination to see if there's anything to it?
  • BrickSunBrickSun Member Posts: 16
And I guess it would have to have the GG to it's left, because what's more logical to have a restaurant surrounded by the places where the chef can buy the freshest produce?

You may as well photoshop it next to the moon for all that combination will ever do for me.

Bah Humbug! You must like your modulars square and boring. It's no wonder you're one of the ones clamoring for a police precinct.

What would look nice next to the Parisian Restaurant is a small city park. It would look best with another 32x32 light bley base plate, but I suppose the typical green one could suffice.

The last three releases dont really go together very well, do they? The three of them stacked together on the box artwork is a bit awkward...

Not at all. For example, I love the non-boxiness and open air of the PR, and the back balcony of the GG is a highlight for me. As for MS, the colors are ugly, the arch decoration is bleak and the "market" is depressingly sparse. If Dracula designed a modular, that would be it.

That is exactly what I am planning to do. Maybe use the statue from that new City Center Set (can't think of its name or number) for a centerpiece.

^^ Why not add on to those modulars to make them less sparse. Surely, your creativity could help spruce it up a bit.
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
Maybe they are keeping out all the Modulars because they know the last three concurrent releases cannot stand on their own street. They dont go together. Not the way they are advert'd, anyway. PC, TH, and then PR, maybe. It would still all look odd. PR next to PS will be a win. Next to GG, is off color green overload. What do you put next to the PC, really? Maybe FB.

I love the color scheme of PR, but there are really a limited number of current modulars it would look "right" sitting next to.

I love this modular building! With the modular building series, I enjoy expanding the buildings both up and/or wide. With this one, I am thinking maybe an extra 16studs on the left side and that can be an outdoor seating area, accessed through the back (by the waiter) but can also be entered from the sidewalk.

If it's going to be authentic, TLG will have to produce a new part: dog potty. I've never walked down a street in France without having to avoid those little land mines. Other than that, I'm pretty excited about this set...
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
We have these fenced in dog parks for the digs to run around and poop all over the place. The one in our town is about the size of a soccer/football field.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
As far as the Modulars, I don't care if they don't look great together. Lego is all about your imagination. You can modify the buildings any way you want. I have been making some small Pet Shop sized Modulars to break things up a bit.

^ With a $Billion dollar company....your marketing team should be putting out at least three buildings that translate together. I agree that MOC Modulars are very very cool...but TLG isnt selling those.

It's a pet peeve, I guess. Design and Marketing go hand in hand....and they skip down the sidewalk to tomorrow, smiling and laughing in harmony, at least over a few steps.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
^I do agree some of the buildings don't look quite right. I don't even consider The Market Street to be a Modular. Yes, it is a modular building, but it isn't your standard Modular release.

    ^but it was apparently #2...

this modular is awesome!!! will definitely plan to get it in January if the lego store does a cool polybag for 75$ or more that month. I wonder with this release being so early in the year does anyone think they might release another modular in 2014?

I'd like to see a double-size, $300 modular skyscraper myself. Apartments, penthouse, health club, ballroom, etc.

I think in terms of "beauty" this certainly ranks near the top for me. In terms of "compatability" it's a whole other story. None the less it is a modular and being the dedicated LEGO fan I am I will pick this up with open arms and wallet. I wish there was more dimension to the building but what it lacks there the details make up for. As for what's next? It's VERY likely that TLG could find it in them to release a second modular later in the year especially if they discontinue one or more before years end. Personally it's time we see something far fetched. Everything so far we say after the fact oh that figures! We need a surprise. A pop! A flash! Maybe a library? Just kidding....

^ Second normal street modular released August 2014, then a new corner building released Jan 2015 to replace GE.

That is my prediction. No inside info, just what I'd do if I were TLG.

Strip club? Could have a gangster poker game going on for the second floor.

I agree with this. PC having a March release, TH was even later than March so January for PR would suggest that maybe they will fall to a '2 modulars a year' model.
  • CalvCalv Member Posts: 904
I'm sure I saw a post by Grogall either here or on Eurobricks saying that there would be 2 modulars next year.
  • maniacmaniac Member Posts: 865
^I heard mention of possibly two a year but I wasn't sure who had said it.
  • BastaBasta Member Posts: 1,259
Wonder If they would release just an apartment/house, like a NY brown stone or classic San Fran Victorian Row House or would that be too boring for TLG. Will the Modulars always have to have some form of commercial goings on?

^ I personally prefer the sets that include a residential area (GG,PS, and now PR). I can see them following the same formula though by adding some kind of "commercial goings on" on one level and a residential on another bc it probably allows for broader appeal. I would love to see a release that is fully residential though, just not sure how popular it would be.

I'm still waiting for a toilet block. They could have at least squeezed in a Parisian style public toilet in this one. The curved pod-style toilet.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
A bidet in the apartment bathroom would have been nice too :)

^^ You dont like the toilet in Olivia's House? #3351
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ Yes I do. But I don't think toilets should be the preserve of Heartlake. City needs them too.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
The Brady Bunch never had a toilet either and they survived.

It's actually easy enought to just build a toilet instead of waiting on Lego to make one...

The Friends "Summer Riding Camp" #3185 has instructions for the best Lego toilet I have seen. Even has a lid that goes up and down...which is better than the one in Olivia's House or the Heartland City Pool #41008.
