Maybe it will have some of those Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Open Stud eh @caperberry?

Other than both being corners, the general appearance in terms of shape (corner tower) and color (Tan/Dark Red/Reddish Brown) are very similar. They easily could have chosen a different palate of colors if they wanted.

On another thread, there's a video of them side by side to illustrate how similar they are.

Neat. Do you happen to have a link to that other thread?

Also, I wonder hoe feasible it would be to build a CC with the Cinema as a base?

I hope Lego make a Lego Brand Store in 2015!!

It ain't happening. If they do, it won't be a modular, it will be made to fit in with the City/Town theme.
They could still do it, they done it for Horizon Express as Jaime Berard says in the designer video!!

Horizon Express is not part of the modular range. And the trains are not meant to all be part of the same range. If they make a very modern looking building, I reckon many people that collect modulars as a display piece would balk at buying it.

There's an existing discussion here for Modular Building Ideas, can we keep this thread clear for discussion of the 2014 Modular please.

Crap. I keep telling myself I cannot get into the Mods because I collect/spend enough on Lego already but this could be the straw that breaks that camels back... Guess I will head off to Bricklink and start assessing the cost of bricklinking GG.

For some reason, I can never see the videos that are posted on brickforum. It's just a big blank space with a 'go' arrow that doesn't do flip. anyone know why?
  • CircleKCircleK Member Posts: 1,055
Cool. I'm just glad it's not a police station. I'm really looking forward to this one bc I was somewhat disappointed with PC.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,907
Well I guess it was either croissants or pizza. Guess croissants won (a limited selection of other lego foods are available).

I need to get a Mime or two, in preparation...the Sad Clown will also be in rotation. The Artist...it's like they've been giving us bread crumbs for this set, but in CMF form. haha. Cannot wait for this one. I got excited with PC(a), and even more excited with PC(b)

Something tells me we'll be seeing versions of the CMF waiter and mime included here, not unlike what they did with the figs for Monster Fighters.

I'm hoping for a maxifig Mr Creosote.

    If that's the case: MIME-OFF!

I remember Paradisa growing up; got a waiter/butler and thought it was cool. So hopefully we get similar figures here. Maybe a young couple on a date? I also would reckon we will be spoiled with a decent amount of food if TLG really puts some solid effort into the set which they seem to be doing with this line.

I'm curious as to how this one will turn out but we're not likely to get pictures for a long time. Personally I'd have preferred an Italian pizza restaurant in terms of the actual restaurant interior. However the Parisian restaurant will likely include some cool swirly stuff for decor and if they have an artist sitting by an upstairs balcony I'm sold. We need a wine rack as well and a selection of frogs awaiting their fate in the kitchen.

I've still to pick up TH and PC though, there are just too many models I want due to EOL sooner.

It would be quite hard to include the mime or waiter in a modular. That would go against the minifigures in the line only having classic smiley faces.

Haha yes, I think I once saw a mime smile, but a Parisian waiter? No way.

I am certainly looking forward to hearing more about this modular set, I have yet to own any modulars and I probably never will due to spending my money on other lego themes but as always I think I will probably be drooling over the pictures of this set when it does come to light, I look forward to hearing more and thanks GRogall. :-D
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
Sounds like it will be a very cool set. I'm about to buy my first modular(yeah, I'm going down that slippery slope-probably GE to start, and then FB before it goes), and this would be a nice item to have.
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
With GE and PC(a) for corners, and PC(b) coming out as another cafe/restaurant, my interest in owning CC is little to none after finding out this is in the works

PC(b) would actually be PR, no?

And I'm with you on the CC. Secretly I'm wishing this to be a total rehash of CC with interior details. It sure would save on design costs.
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
^ PR, it is ;) I got 99 PRs but a CC aint one.

I don't have any Friends sets, but didn't they expand the food pieces quite a bit with those?
  • PlellPlell Member Posts: 192
^ They introduced some new kitchen implements (so maybe the spatula or hand mixer could show up here in exclusive colors), but for the most part Friends sets use brick-built food or pre-existing pieces.

Ugh... it bugs me that I'm so far behind on the modulars. Still have PS, TH, and PC to get. So many sets, yet so little money.

Anyone else hoping for the unbelievable WM clearance sale again? I believe it happened sometime in September, IIRC?

Now, to identify the specific helicases that can extract FB for retirement. :o)

If I recall correctly, Market Street came first by about five months (at least in the States), though many people, myself included, don't consider it part of the modular series.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^Actually, in looking at the model numbers, it suggests CC was first, though I don't remember that being the case. Of course, I only took note of the modulars once FB came out, as they were pretty terrible up to that point.

Café Corner is the first Modular Building! The second was Market Street which was under the Factory theme, (Some like me, don't consider this a real Modular)
Next was Green Grocer, Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Town Hall and then Palace Cinema. since TLG released a PDF last week which basically states that the Palace Cinema was the best selling Brand store set for this year, I'm sure we will see many more of these sets in the future! I can't wait!

^ Thanks @GRogall! In case people can't read German, the facts on that PDF say roughly this (tidied up from google translate):

Some facts about the LEGO Stores

    - There are 102 LEGO Stores worldwide (76 in North America and 26 in Europe).
    - The 103rd LEGO Store is now the first in Austria (SCS).
    - The very first LEGO store opened in 2002 in Cologne (Germany).
    - 8 LEGO stores were opened in Europe in 2012.
    - Fans can [choose] up to 100 different parts and elements from Pick-A-Brick walls in a LEGO Store.
    - 400 to 500 different LEGO products are available in a single LEGO Store.
    - In 2012 68,000 LEGO Minifigures Series 8 were sold in stores.
    - In 2013, there are 7 exclusive sets that can only be purchased in the LEGO Stores or on shop.LEGO.com.
    - 10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema is so far in 2013 the best-selling product in the LEGO Store.
    - In 2012 240 events held in the European LEGO Stores.
    - 255 models were built in 2012 for the LEGO Store display cases in Europe.
    - The largest LEGO set which is currently in a LEGO Store to buy is 10214 LEGO Creator Tower Bridge, which contains 4,295 LEGO elements.

Fire Brigade is slowly starting to disappear here in some German stores, But I also know that John Lewis in the UK will start selling the set soon, so you figure it out!? John Lewis product # is 232266388.........

    - In 2012 68,000 LEGO Minifigures Series 8 were sold in stores.

That's about 10-11 boxes sold per brand store. I thought they sell a lot more through brand stores, seeing how popular CMF are, especially in the USA.

Interesting! I work in a brand store and we haven't heard anything about a new modular yet! Exciting news

I am thinking Dark Green or Dark Blue perhaps. Will be interesting to see what they choose, there really aren't that many colors which haven't been used yet in the series. Pearl gold would go well for accents or maybe Chima Temple yellowy-orange as long as it isn't too much.
  • PlellPlell Member Posts: 192
I'm kind of hoping for Olive Green or Earth Blue with Medium Nougat. We haven't seen any of those used in a Modular yet, except for the Earth Blue in Market Street, and I know a lot of people don't think that one counts.

Stef: Data, where are you going?
    Data: I'm setting booty traps.
    Stef: You mean booby traps.
Data: That's what I said, booby traps!

As for the CCMS MSCC question, carbon dating was inconclusive and the cave paintings from ACOLs (Adult Caveman of LEGO) rarely represented MS. That being said, I've adjusted the presentation of the data to address the peer review concerns.

They dont really do vibrant colors to make the buildings more realistic, lets see,
    - Dark Red -Sand Blue (I consider MS modular) -Sand Green -Tan (meh) -Sand Blue+Dark Red -Dark Orange (<3) -Dark Tan+Dark Red

Im choosing to hold out on guessing the color, because it really could be anything of that nature- I just realized, of your a parts person (I buy sets to display, very rarely get a set for parts if the design of the constructed set really is awful) , those sets with those colors are a DREAM
