I assume this was the basis for the #2853835-1 White Boba Fett minifig.

Hmm, I assumed when i read that the white Boba Fett minifig was the 'original concept' that it meant for the minifig. Seems not.

Pretty sure Ralph McQuarrie's original design was for Fett to be in white.

Star Wars fans know that in the initial sketches and designs done for Boba Fett, he was designated as a "Mandalorian Supercommando", an elite branch of the Imperial Stormtrooper corps that had different armor and more advanced weaponry. This idea was eventually discarded, but that explains why the Boba Fett armor was originally white (like other Stormtroopers) and hence the video you see above shows one of the early test armors made looking white as well (though that might have a by-product of the machining process and the materials available at the time).

I wasn't aware of this either, are there other concepts like this? Vader or something?

There have been lot's of concept figures and ships released by various toy manufacturers. I like that Lego has delved into the Expanded Universe, but I don't know if Star Wars concept sets and minifigures would sell that well.

Speaking of concepts, did anyone know the first Predator was Jean Claude Van Damme?

Boba Fett is an anomaly. People seem to have Boba Fetish.

Although, she can freeze me and put me in her cargo hold if she wants ;)

in "action figures," yep. Heck, I even have a Ralph McQuarrie action figure. :D

I would love to see more concept minifigs, but I just dont see it happening. We'd finally get a new Chewie, but he'd look more like someone else. haha

    Ha! It's the Stig!

Some say he's a pure clone of his father, some say he shot first... all we know is, he's called the Fett.

I think you're mixing your Star Wars mythology a bit.

Ah yes... I expect we will discover the genetic link between Han and Boba in episode 7. To keep it all in the family.

Thanks, forgot about that... Also, The original Jabba The Hutt, was just a scruffy looking fat guy. But they cut the scenes out of the first Star Wars.

The Special Edition also had Boba Fett. I think people forget about that. I think when people calculate how long he was on screen they for get to add those seconds ;)

No, he quit the filming after finding out he would not be credited in the reel. Following this the whole concept was changed and Kevin Peter Hall was drafted in, getting his credit in the reel after they gave him another part as the rescue chopper pilot in the final scenes.

Incidentally, the preadtor "voice acting" was done by Peter Cullen, better known for his work as Optimus Prime from the first cartoons in the eighties and more recently Bay's movie series...

    Darn, that looks really geeky.
