Whitecap bay mermaid torso misprint - rare?

I've just opened my copy of whitecap bay and the green mermaid has a misprinted torso - instead of being on a flesh background it's on a grey background. Is this rare?

rare? yes, lego's quality control is pretty incredible. but valuable? no. lego collectors differ from other toy collectors and don't seem to value error figures the same way. most seem to look at them as just a defect. a dramatic error from one of the more collector friendly lines like star wars or harry potter might get a little premium but i cant see anything else really commanding a lot of love.

^ There are exceptions, the leia 'smooth hair' thing fetches quite a lot.

I reckon each defect has to be evaluated on its own merits. Most will just be 'one-off defect = unwanted', but some, particularly if there's a batch that sneaked into the system, I can imagine being collected as a rare alternative version.

I guess you never know until you try sell it... or if the news of it spreads into a frenzy somehow which whips up the value.

I'd be interested to see a picture. I know there is a market for parts in rare/non-production colours, but not so sure about mis-prints/mis-moulds.

That's awesome Si. If you ever let it go I'll take it. I have about 7 mermaids in my cabinet as part of a pirates set up I did.

^ just call them and say that you got a mis-printed part, they'll probably send the correct one out to you without you having to return that one.

I think it looks cool too! With some grey arms it'd look like a haute couture-y top. I'd swap you it for a regular one if richo hadn't jumped in first :-)

I thought the same thing... grey arms, and you have a new mermaid, or a top that makes you look FAB-YOO-LUSS, Daaaaaaaarling!

Would make a pretty good Medusa body as well.
