I believe rumors was reviewed at the end of June for SDCC Lego exclusive and official news was given days in advance. I think we shouldn't expect anything for about a month.
  • asksolasksol Member Posts: 101
How does it work? Do they give them away for free to anyone who attends the con?
  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191
They gave them out to those people who had their badge scanned earlier in the day.

I'm hoping its nothing I want. I can't buy sets I want because of these freekin "exclusives/press exclusives"
  • DoubleDDoubleD Member Posts: 488
I here you hopefully I can get some and trade them for two of last years I could never get shazam or bizarro I don't mind paying like 150 but everyone wants like 250

I have been making arrangements to have first refusal on any exclusives, two attendees are able to get. So i have my fingers crossed they are super hero/villians!!!
  • DoubleDDoubleD Member Posts: 488
Yeah I wasn't upset about not getting the ninja turtles minifigs.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
I hope there's not 4 of them this time. Hopefully just one, or MAYBE 2, but 4 was too hard to get a hold of.

^ In my opinion, the less there are the more they will cost. Last year I think they handed out a 1000ish each (Samiam391 to confirm). There for around 4000ish. It allowed people more opportunity to chose, thus driving the price down on the less popular ones.

If there are only 2 this year, then around 2000ish will be available, driving the price up as people try and get their hands on them.

I hope Lego stops doing press exclusives at these events and others. They are the worst when it comes to buying from them
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
^ press exclusives just dont make much sense. It's like TLG saying, "here's some money. live long, prosper, and we know you won't play well."

There seems to be a link between exclusives and new theme announcements. Except sdcc 2012. I.e
Nycc 2012 tmnt, sdcc and nycc 2011 and superheroes. So lone ranger or dare i say it simpsons...
  • DoubleDDoubleD Member Posts: 488
They Simpsons nooooooo I forgot about them that more money out of my pocket

As much as I looove Lego and their exclusives, it's extremely exhausting to try to round these SOBs up. It was tough two years ago w/ Batman and GL, then last year was a farce w/ four of them to go after. Needless to say, my con was spent hunting for SuperHeroes. :/

I won't be bummed at all if they don't have an exclusive figure. I'd like to spend the con at the con and not at booths hunting for minifigures. :)

    *Spoiler alert*

Here's a photo of the 2013 SDCC exclusive.

Honestly, I can't wait to get my hands on a few hundred, apparently they are limited to 1/1,000,000.

I would rather have an exclusive with that availability than one that is 1/5000 and ppl try n sell something they got for $0 and try to sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars

In 2011 there were only 2 (Batman and GL at SDCC) and the initial prices in July were around $30-$50 on the aftermarket, I thought that was high at the time, but obviously now were great deals.

Last year in 2012 the Toy Fair Iron Man and Cap I saw for $350-500. I thought that was extremely high, wished I had bought them now though of course.

SDCC 2012 figs were about $100, now double that.

So I would recommend "the time to buy it is when you see it" and "it is better to get in earlier rather than later"

Probably old news, haven't searched this thread, but there is a 2013 SDCC TMNT Kraang fig.
Dude in a blue suit with half the suit (and face) ripped off with Krang underneath.

    Some on ebay:

@princedraven: Kraang was a New York Comic Con exclusive from October 2012, not a new SDCC exclusive (despite the eBay title). A hard one to acquire, though: you had to go to the Lego Store at Rockefeller Plaza dressed in a Turtles themed costume!
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
^ ah, ok, have no real interest in these, so was just trying to forward on the info. Clearly someone trying to full a fast one...
  • DoubleDDoubleD Member Posts: 488
They had a turtle at nycc I think they were released around the same time and I think there was a pizza slice also released that maybe post nycc
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
From what I remember, the pizza slice was part of a press kit and only a few were made. I don't think that even counts as an exclusive.
  • DrmnezDrmnez Member Posts: 855

@Legodude 2011 NYCC had 3 figs actually, can't forget the super limited Superman!
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
@brickdancer i always forget him, because the mini-fig is no different!

SDCC 2011 - Green Lantern and Batman
NYCC 2011- Greent Lantern, Batman, and Superman
SDCC 2012- Phoenix, Venom, Bizzaro, Shazam
NYCC 2012-"Shadow" Leonardo," Android Krang (@ Rockefeller Center)

    For reference.

@GIR3691 although the mask and skateboard (with NYCC sticker!) match the official name for the 2012 NYCC fig is "Dark Turtle".

Add into that list the Toy Fair figures too to drive people completely bonkers.

  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
I'll add some numbers (and for @murphquake the NYTFs from 2012) to the Super Hero/TMNT list:

NYTF 2012 - Ironman and Captain America 1/125 w/ bag and lanyard (+movie prize w/o bag or lanyard)
    SDCC 2011 - Green Lantern (1,500) and Batman (1,500)
    NYCC 2011 - Greent Lantern (1,500), Batman (1,500), and Superman (200)
    SDCC 2012 - Phoenix (1,000), Venom (1,000), Bizzaro (1,000), Shazam (1,000)
    NYCC 2012 -"Shadow" Leonardo (500 w/ card + 400 w/ tin)," Android Krang (@ Rockefeller Center) (300)

Of course, all these numbers are approximate. I'm willing to place money on the fact that just like LEGO created more than 10,000 Chrome C-3POs, they also created more than the "official" number of the above figures.

@samiam391 what do you mean by +400 with tin for "Shadow Leonardo". The only thing that came with the NYCC tin was Luke skywalker and the landspeeder chibi model

Not a buildable model, but the Shadow Leonoardo minifigure in a tin given out to children that dressed up as turtles at a specific store in Westfield in February.

Does no one consider the 2006 SDCC convention exclusive (the first LEGO one I believe)-Batman/Joker in the box that has the sound bite of Joker laughing-worth mentioning? I realize the figures aren't exactly exclusive as you are paying essentially for the packaging. However, I believe the number produced was either 250 or 600, which either way puts it up there with some of the others as far as rarity is concerned.

Wow, that's such a better idea than handing out round cardbacks. Those are so hard to keep mint.

We were looking at just minifigures. There have also been the three exclusive tin sets, the minifig packs, and exclusive sets. Just Bricklink "San Diego" and a bunch will pop up. Based on recent trends, the exclusive minifigure should continue to be a single minifig on a cardback.

@samiam391 hadn't see that, sweet! Lucky kids! I was one of the few silly people dressed up like a turtle to get Kraang... then I went all the way to NYCC in costume until I reached I LUG NY's booth so my Lugmates could enjoy my shame. Now I want that too =-)

    @gir3691 isn't it though!

I don't think it's to far fetched to suggest that the following may be (or one of) this years SDCC's exclusive:

    http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=5001709-1

LEGO definitely has additional plans for this polybag minifigure besides a single release at legoland CA.
  • citrusemcitrusem Member Posts: 1
The Bilbo from 2012 was cool right until the exact same figs were released in the sets. The people who sold them for ~$50 after the con are probably still laughing at their luck.

Why cant we just get a Phase Two armor trooper that's easily attainable w/o ending up with 3000 yodas or weird tall sniper droidekas? huh huh?

    SDCC's exclusive figures will be:

    Hairy Chewbacca
    TMNT's Karai
    Mrs. Gold.

    Ok, not really.
