Surveys on Brickset?

emilewskiemilewski Member Posts: 482
I would like to put in a request for surveys on Brickset. While not scientific at all of course, it would be fun to see this function added ("Do you prefer the old dark grey/light grey or the new dark bluish grey/light bluish grey colors?" "What would you like to see as the next modular? (listing several options such as Police Precinct, Post Office, etc).

Probably survey requests would have to go through the Mods as otherwise there would be hundreds and some of the "Which is better, Apple Tree House or the Black Pearl?"

Just a thought.

Sorry, @emilewski, but I don't see the value of such surveys, at least with respect to the examples you provide.

How is your 'good' example - "Do you prefer the old dark grey/light grey or the new dark bluish grey/light bluish grey colors?" - any more of a valid question than your 'bad' example - "Which is better, Apple Tree House or the Black Pearl?" ? Neither would provide anything but collection of personal opinions, and neither provides information which is likely to be of any use.

If LEGO themselves were offering us the opportunity to influence future products, or colours, by asking us to host such surveys then that'd be a very different matter.... As it is, however, I don't see these surveys being of any more value than the "What do you think of this set ?"-type discussion threads which the staff tend to kill with extreme prejudice when we see them !

I used to spend a lot of time on a forum (non-LEGO) that has surveys. Terrible, terrible idea. You end up with large numbers of topics created just to put out new pointless, terribly constructed surveys.

    please no

OK, in light of your thoughts and further thought of my own I withdraw the suggestion. It provides no real value I agree.

So what is better? Threads that ask for surveys or megabloks? :-)

Dunno, but we could put up a survey and see what people think! :P
