How to power the Lone Ranger train

I'm looking for help in powering the Lego Lone Ranger Train. I thought I could do it with parts from my passenger train, but the vehicle base which holds all the batteries is too long. I have some PowerFunction motors, but I don't know if that would work. If anyone knows where I might go to learn how to add power to an unpowered Lego train, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

The brickshow have developed a simple but crude way of powering it. Just google brickshow and you will find it.
