I got one of those warehouse deal Haunted house sets, the box was trashed but it seems like all of the contents are there..
Does anyone happen to know how many bags there are in the HH box?
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Do not freak out, it's not back on sale, but...

The Haunted House is back in stock, sold by Amazon. I write this because hopefully this means that they might, in the future, toss it on a sale like this again, as opposed to what others speculated, that they were simply liquidating stock to zero.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
Still good to know it is back, as it could wind up on sale again..
    Thanks for the update
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
About 10% off. Not a huge sale but not bad for a brand new set.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
Just pulled the trigger on Haunted House. Used credit card points that I got as a bonus on amazon so the set is FREE. :)
  • RennyRenny Member Posts: 1,145
Wow, that's a lot of bonus points :) Enjoy!

Yeah, summer is slow income wise, so I'm waiting til business picks up in a couple of months or so. I'm waiting for a $200 Visa gift card in the mail I got with my BMW Visa card points.

I used to use them for amazon, cash, paying down the balance. And, to each his own, but I now usually use my points for dining, because I can get a $50 gift card for $40 in points, or some such. Now, if they offered a $50 LEGO gift card for $40 I'd be all over it. :-)
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
Should have waited IMO, HH went down a few times on varying sales and will probably go down again, unless the points were expiring

@Cloaked7. I hear ya, we got a bunch of Outback gift cards for less points than an Amazon gift card or Visa Gift card.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
I think these will get down to 75-80 So Ill be holding off buying them right now.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
@madforLEGO, I know but I have a ton more to use and there are only a handful of sets I want that are out right now anyways so to me it was a win-win when you consider I dont even pay for shipping! This gives me something nice to do over the weekend...errr...summer.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
Gotcha... Yeah, it is summer already.. it feels like it was past Christmas not so long ago.

I'm just hopping one day such deals might hit europe if the ice is melted in the antarctic. It is just ridicules that you guys pay so little that's 102 EUR for a set that retails at 179 EUR.

Now I cry myself to sleep.

    It's down to 83.09 now.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Interesting that it keeps dropping. I wonder if the initial sales have been had and now it just isn't selling?

Of course, it is June, not a great sales month, but of course any new set will get *some* sales any time, even at full price, then everyone else is waiting for a deal. :)

It is getting close to my price. It has 699 parts and track is included, so $83 is getting darn close. Shame I don't actually need the track. :)

Thinking about it, but frankly, I think we'll see this one at 30% off more than once before this year is out.

Is it possible that that price is your goldbox deal?
I am seeing it at $87.86 and camel reports it as the lowest price so far. I doubt it went to 83.09 and back to 87 so quickly.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
Walmart has it at $88 so could be a price match war
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
It was down to 83.09, but I think it will go lower eventually

No, it was in my cart and it is now back to 87ish. I waited too long too.

    So here's something for you.
I got the HH for free with these reward points on amazon. So I start building and I am missing one bag of # 2 and one bag of # 4. So I call amazon and what do they do?! They have sent me a whole new HH!!!! Not asking for what I have to be returned. Wow. So what should I do with all these extra pieces now that I have a whole new one coming???
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
^ Yet another example of superior Amazon customer service. They aren't perfect, and they don't box stuff well enough to keep it mint much of the time...

But it is hard to argue with that! :)
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
^Add-on master suite, of course :)
  • kwkwkwkw Member Posts: 1,209
@piratemania7 what's the batch number on that HH set? I'd like to check mine to see if it's from the same batch. You can find the batch number on the seals, its usually a combination of letters and numbers. Thank you in advance.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
How many bags are supposed to be in the HH set?
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
@LegoFanTexas tell me about it. There was a big barcode sticker plastered on the front of the box too! I was like well I'm building it anyways and when I got started that's when I noticed something wasn't complete. None the less I called and after a couple minutes on hold they came back with the great news. I should have it early this week. Meanwhile I have a hobby table full of HH Lego and some in bags still and a wife shaking her head every time she passes by it...
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Hopefully the missing bags weren't the ones with the heart, ship in bottle, minifigs, zombie column heads, etc. Doubles of all of those are always nice.
  • nkx1nkx1 Member Posts: 719
You could always bricklink the missing pieces, build the bricklinked version yourself, and save the sealed boxed version to sell later. At least that's what I would probably do.

On a side note, while that is amazing customer service, I'm not sure if I if I would feel right about receiving a new set free. Amazon is obviously losing money there, and that's generally not good for the long-term health of any company. I know there are tax write-offs etc, but they are still losing money. Lego could have sent the pieces to you for free, I'm sure. Though, that would probably take longer than getting a replacement from Amazon, and I can definitely understand not wanting to wait longer than necessary to build a new set.
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
I'm sure Amazon looks at situations like this as securing a customer for the long term. Even though it's an expensive set, they want to make sure the customer continues to shop at Amazon instead of other stores.

Could be they have a destroy clause in their contract that requires incomplete lego to be trashed, So it's cheaper for Amazon to not pay the return shipping just to be required to throw it away.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
I think personally what they do is evaluate the customer and whether hey have "claimed" anything before or not plus weigh the cost of having to have a damaged or incomplete item returned to only have to then do something with it which costs labor hours to do.

Ultimately I feel as though I am elated. They were nice to me. I win this round. Amazon will be fine and Lego will be too. They made me a happy customer and they in fact have won because I am in a sense promoting their good nature on this forum! Either way I think they did what protocol told them and there are bitter stories and issues out there than this.

Everyone needs to tell Amazon about this lower price. They will likely drop their price to match Walmart's

The stagecoach for $25 shipped/no tax (maybe) is probably the best general value on any Lego set this year.

^Agreed on the stagecoach, but don't we think it could go lower?
