Which sets have chrome gold coins?

dejavudejavu Member Posts: 235
I have four chrome gold coins that came with my Diagon Alley set, #10217, but which other sets come with these shiny coins? I found a long-ago discussion of chrome gold vs non-shiny gold coins, but it didn't discuss which sets DID come with the chrome gold coins.

Wow, that was fast! And informative - I did not know that the Brickset data base would tell me every set that contained a specific piece. Thanks, @CCC!

Yeah, it is very handy! Bricklink can do something similar too.

Can someone post a pic of both chrome and non-shiny coins? I have quite a few LEGO coins, but I dont know whether they are all chrome or not.

As far as I can tell, only the coins from Pirates of the Caribbean are in pearl gold, all others are shiny chrome.

But the chrome can be worn off, so the coin is some semi-translucent sickly greyish color. That is not an official color. So your non-chrome coins are either not LEGO, or very worn.

My LEGO coins seem to be in pretty good condition and they are certainly not that from Pirates of the Caribbean set, I have them from Indiana Jones set. I have few of the coins from earlier sets as well (Pirate) and they haven't lost the chrome yet. (They are more than 13 years old I believe).
BTW I have also seen that some of the new Castle sets cointain sort of "coins" which are similiar to these in Pirates of the Caribbean, but I could be wrong I only saw pictures of them.

There are in fact two slightly different kinds of coin, one which came in the Pirates of the Caribbean sets and the other which came in all other themes since Pirates. The number on them is in a different font and older coins have always been chrome, whereas the newer coins are sometimes chrome, but sometimes simply dark tan I believe.

The newer Chrome coins are marked with a different font (^as you mentioned) and have the numbers 1, 2, 5, 10. The old ones are 10, 20, 30, 40. PotC first had the pearl gold coins but apparently that was a mistake so the later sets had the chrome coins. The new castle sets either have the 1x1 Round plates as coins, or in the more expensive sets, have the new chrome coins.

I can say definitively that the Medieval Market Square and Diagon Alley have the same coins.
