Hello there, only very recently rediscovered the joys of lego, I'm into comics so I've always admired the superheroes sets so the last month I bought the iron man sets, then a couple of superman, and being a kid of the seventies (1970) love Star Wars so this week bought the x wing (which I'm building today).

I live in Stockport so near for Manchester store and liverpool (as a visit relatives once or twice a month).

I'm going to have to pick a couple of themes and stick to them :-). Definitely like the modulars, not sure which one will be my first.

I find it quite relaxing building sets, it's just where to put them

Anyway enough rambling catch you later!

Welcome @sazzle15 from another AFoL near Manchester! :)

You're right that picking a couple of themes then sticking to them is the right way to go. I realised that just before Christmas last year.

In terms of modulars, go for the Fire Brigade first, as that's very likely to be discontinued this year, and you'll kick yourself if you don't get it. Then you're best getting them in order of release, earliest first (Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Town Hall, Palace Cinema), so that you don't miss out on any.

Have fun, and enjoy yourself on here!

    Hello @sazzle15 welcome to Brickset.

I'm on the Wirral and visit the Liverpool store a couple of times a month myself. We visit Manchester a few times a year aswell (mainly for concerts, Megadeth next Wednesday!).
Have you tried the palace cinema yet?
I'm mainly into city stuff and looking forward to galaxy squad.
Star Wars is a little pricey for me especially with ships I've never even heard of!

Paperballpark ill have a look for the FB first, thanks for the tip :-) from June's pay I've got some spare funds so ill try and pick up one a month.

Pricey73 I'm limiting myself to ep 4,5,6 old Skool Star Wars s I don't recognise half the stuff :) I think mill.falcon and landspeeder are prob the only other 2 ill get - just had a look in toysrus and ended up buying battle of hoth 75014 as it was 33.74 and I had a coupon for £5 off so 28.74 which I thought I might not be able to get it that cheap for a while. Daren't touch the city stuff ill get carried away so many sets!

Gonna have to be strict with myself !

    Richo - cheers

@sazzle15 probably a good idea to limit yourself, so easy to do, honestly!

Welcome to the forum. I would only echo @Paperballpark in advising you to pick up the Fire Brigade first. As well as being the one which will be retired the soonest, it is also the best in my opinion.

With the newly opened (ish) Lego store in Manchester I imagine it will be difficult to avoid getting carried away with spending!

As well as the Modular Buildings, which other themes are you considering?

Hi, try and pick up the fire brigade modular on one of the afol days as you will save about £ 15. There should be one around the autumn. The staff at the Manchester store are awesome. We are lucky to have such a good store!
