Wow what an epic Target day. I picked up 2 Uruk-Hai Army sets, the Vamp Hearse, The Quinn Jet, and the Vamp Castle all for 50% off. Do I go back in the morning to get what's left?.....hmmm

Checked 2 targets by me and everything is gone. My friend in the area said our Targets started clearance over a week ago so I doubt I'll get lucky at Target..

Think I picked the wrong week to take a vacation . . .

I finished my rounds on the remaining stores I usually check.

Only one store had the Quinjet remaining at 50% off. Everything else was gone.

The rest had the small car creator or some Duplo but all had some Hero Factory on clearance.

Went to Target, all they had left was a single Kimino/jedi fighter planet set for 5 bucks, grabbed it. Sad I couldn't find the other two sets =/
  • ludzikludzik Member Posts: 429
I only saw the kimino on clearance. It seems that the other two planets are holding their price...

I think many people seeing the TLR train sets at 10-20% discounts are picking them up, but I do not want to pay more than 80 for them, and 70-80 would be better IMO.
Because really I'm buying the set for the locomotive, not the Gatling flatbed car or even that box car/caboose.
If anything I'm watching Amazon like a hawk to try to get one of these for a 30% off type price, Ill take 25% off at this point.

It is a shame that the Disney stores were all cleared out in one night when the train sets were 60 bucks
Hope LEGO feels they need to do this to clear them out later this year.better price.

But I did manage to get a few sets at a Target (like Small Cottage for 18) but again still waiting for the Targets around me to start discounting #79111

Those who see sets at Target for 50% off are blessed, I think I only ever saw the Target by me have Pharaoh's pyramid sets for 50% off, otherwise most sets do not last past 30% around me

@pvancil27 Same here. I did manage to get the other 2 at Fredmeyer though.

I nabbed two Captain Americas and two MF werewolf sets - all 50% off. I also noticed that my target FINALLY added Helms Deep to the clearance rack. They had three of them priced at $90.

You should take another look at those cars for the Constitution train. Both are nice compliments to the whole and darn if the operating Gatling gun isn't really neat, and the open crate, etc, representing pretty much what old-time train transportation was - things put into crates, tied down wherever, etc. Plus, the boxcar is a great place to hide a battery pack for powering it, while the tender can hold the rest of the PF. The whole train is really nice and if you miss out on it, you'll be kicking yourself. I would recommend sucking it up and getting it on Amazon while it's $85ish.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
^- Yeah I have been debating buying them at Amazon.. That is a good deal, but I think it can be better (drop to 80) before I buy them.. I already got a Loco and Tender off of eBay so I'm not really missing out if I do not get it, but I agree the whole package does warrant a price of 80-85.. but after buying a 41999 I heard my credit card say 'ouch' for this month...
Hoping they get down a bit more to justify my insanity to get a couple of these.
If they disappear from Target after their clearance and I cannot get one there I'll probably bite on the Amazon one.
Or roll the dice and see if LEGO drops these to 75 and still is doing the free shipping at that time...

Just wondering could anyone pick up some sets for me?? I'll pay the Cost plus shipping to me plus maybe something extra or perhaps some freebies (CMF's, polybags, other things we can discuss). Payment will be via Paypal. Do send me a PM. Thanks!

^I can't believe you can't get these sets for cheaper from Amazon, especially when you consider shipping and overall hassle. Even for the big GS sets that are 50%, you're looking at some heavy shipping charges, plus the cost of a box, packing, time, etc.

^ I believe there is no Amazon to his country. His sources are very limited.

  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
That would be a good reason then. Of course, then you're dealing with international shipping of big boxes, which can be even bigger $$$.

I have to ditto this. I would not expect to find anything at Target on clearance right now in the way of Lego. Now, having said that, I actually know my Target has one set on clearance still, but I don't think anyone shopping at my store realizes that. It isn't tagged. I already have two, though. One for my ds and one for my nephew.
  • CoolsplashCoolsplash Member Posts: 935
@tensor, international shipping is expensive yes, but USPS works well enough and trying to get items from clearance/sale it helps to save me $$$ and really not looking for bigger sets, perhaps lots of medium sized sets which can fit nicely in a Carton weighing about 5-8kg :D
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
    ^Cool, good to know.

I had the opportunity to fit in 3 local targets during some errands yesterday morning. One was nothing special, no more clearances. Shelves looked normal. The other two both had one side of the aisle darn near empty. As if they are shrinking their Lego section or something. Like there was nothing on the shelves. Kinda weird.
  • psychopuppetpsychopuppet Member Posts: 71
My store looked like they were putting some clearance in to Target labeled cardboard boxes. I believe last year at mine the toy clearance was moved to its own aisle for a bit then just vanished. I wonder if they are not about to do a new aisle set up for the toy section again? As I don't remember this big of toy clearance since the last aisle change or Christmas time.

I found all of the sets that have been mentioned on sale at their normal price at Target today. I don't understand the sale. Was it just for a few days?
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Was at least for 2-3 weeks. I sopped by a target that had 15-30% off for a while, but last night, all sets were back at RRP and the LEGO aisle was re-arranged. New Castle sets are now in the aisle and the new large Chima sets are now in the up front spot.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Not all Target stores have the same sets on sale. Sometimes a store may only have a few of a set, and they do not mark it down, while another store may have many, and they clearance it out.

Usually Target sets up a clearance toy aisle. They have also done that for years. They did not this year at any of the Targets I went to.

Last night I went to a store I have only been to once many years ago. They had no clearance, so I wandered into electronics. There was one last copy of The Hobbit Boardgame #3920 sitting with the Minotaurus/DS bundles. It scanned at $10.48, so I bit on it.

The local Target crew were in the process of resetting the toy department today (including setting up the spectacular new LEGO Star Wars display -- check it out, it's amazing) when I noticed something unexpected on the clearance endcaps: a Lone Ranger set already marked down! Silver Mine Shootout was discounted to $49.99, down from $69.99.

I didn't get one up myself, but if any of them last long enough for another markdown, I just might. But for anyone who's already inclined toward buying it, you might want to pick one up sooner rather than later.

I take it the TLR Train was full price?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Can we start a separate thread for the train too?
  • absolut3absolut3 Member Posts: 83
What gmpirate means is that there is already a target clearance thread and that this post should most likely go there instead of creating a new thread.

Sorry, I didn't see that thread.

This Target store never carried the train, so there weren't any to mark down.

Train still full price at my Target
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I've rarely even seen the train at Target. Never seen any LR on sale.
  • OUWxGuesserOUWxGuesser Member Posts: 92
Not to threajack, but the new SW display IS amazing. What does Target do with the displays when they are done? ;)
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
If I recall, the area LEGO rep usually collects them or they get thrown away. They are not supposed to be given away, but it happens fairly often since you do see them for sale from time to time. I once had a display from the Wild West theme. Sold it at a yard sale to a little girl for something like $15. They are bulky and hard to ship.

I checked out two Targets yesterday. Looks like the clearance is over at both, and the shelves were stocked with the new summer sets (SW, Galaxy Squad, Castle). Interestingly enough, at both stores they had Millennium Falcons #7965 back on shelves, which I haven't seen around for months.

I know clearances prices are on a store-by-store basis, but do they all end the clearances and then reset the shelves at the same time?

in one of the store i visited yesterday i saw #7965 @ 139.99 LOL.. lets see how many of them will roll @ RRP.

on that note may be it is like this: ... since #10240 is @199.99 so next best thing would be #9493 which was flying off the target shelf in my area @ $59.99 .
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Sometimes when target has an older set on the shelves that seems to be gone many or most other places it may be an indication of a Black Friday sneak peak. The falcon would be cool.
  • darktremeredarktremere Member Posts: 42
My Target only marked down a couple of Sponge Bob sets, now the Lego is completely reset and no new clearances. They did have a bunch of Chima Speedorz stacked on an end cap with a clearance sign, but they came up as regular price when I scanned them.

Same here--the shelves look back to normal, and I was surprised to see several #7965s on the bottom shelf, as well.

Only "sale" (notice the quotes) were some of the city sets. They had a handful for a buck off, if that. For example, #60016 had a sale tag and was, if memory serves, 84-cents off retail.
  • MilcheaxMilcheax Member Posts: 52
Was in a store the other day, which previously had cleared out all its clearance, but now had the new Star Wars display up, and they actually had a dozen or so #9467 (Ghost Train) at full price on the shelf.

Target is a joke this week, their weekly ad has some sets like the Castle gate advertised for $29.99- which is the normal price. And a bunch of city sets on sale for as @weaselking said, approx .84 cents off...

Perhaps they're trying to make up for clearing out Lone Ranger stock at 50% off only a week after they put it on the shelves.

One last sweep today and found a City Forest Police Station @ 70% off.

I found 2 Helms Deep on the 70% Off Shelf but they were still ringing at $90. I asked an associate about it but he pretty much just blew me off.
