Most of the Lego clearance has dried up at my Target. It seems pretty obvious that it's almost over at this store. I think they still have the Mirkwood spider set on sale and maybe a couple of other small sets.

I think I've spent any savings on gas checking multiple stores several times a week. Let me put on my foil hat and say they're messing with us who had the system down. :P
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
I probably have 5-6 Targets within a 15 mile radius of me and I've been checking most of them regularly each week for the past 3+ weeks. It all started at 15% and some eventually dropped to 30% and a mix of 30/50%. One hasn't ever gone lower than 15%. I'll admit I grabbed several sets at a few stores with the 30/50% mix and don't expect any of them to get to 70%. Too bad none of the stores had any Lone Ranger sets even slightly discounted. If anyone has any extras and possibly wants to sell, please let me know. Thx.

There does appear to be a tiered system at some stores. Though they all went on clearance at the same time at my local ones, many not-LEGO toy items are 50-70% off, but most LEGO is still 15-30%.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
That is more normal, @sonsofsceva. Typically Lego is in a later discount tier, and stores get wiped by 30%. Some lucky people may find 50% Lego. Nobody around here is at the 50-70% stage for toys (maybe tomorrow), which is what I expected by now. We are still at 30-50% with most being at 30%. Lego is discounted more slowly because they don't need to discount it fast for it to sell.

Yep. There where 5, I bought three. We will Use them for gifts most likely.

Competition has become stiff, most sets are selling out at 30% now. I haven't picked anything off the shelves from Target since their last summer clearance.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
My local target didn't even bother with any Lego clearance. My wallet continues to thank them for sparing it a workout. ( sour grapes) :-)

    Final markdown confirmed today.

    Got Mirkwood Spiders 50%
    Quintjet 50%
    Captain American Cycle 50%
    Hobbit Game 70%
    Pirates Game 70%
    Werewolf 50%
    Vampire Hearse 50%

And of course best score was a return rebuy of TLR Train ($30) and Cavalry builder ($4) and rebuy @ 70%. Did pretty well considering there wasn't much to begin with

Picked up 2 VC @ $49.99 today. Caught the girl with the gun and she marked them down foe me!
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
^Fascinating, I haven't seen the VC in any retail store for at least a month, maybe two. I guess my area just likes vampires.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
Not much left at my local store: Flying Dutchman, Jedi Starfighter & Kamino, and The Hobbit Game at 50% off; Ninjago Game and Pirate Plank at 30% off.

Strangely, they had several Ghost Trains at full RRP.

Their shelves are still quite full of old stock, so it will be interesting to see what they do with it when the new sets come in.

    Flying Dutchman 50% off.

50% off for a set that hasn't ever been created by LEGO? I'd snatch that up in the blink of an eye.

Looks like it finally has hit store shelves @Legoboy, at 50% off no less.

@graphite- This is why I should keep my mouth shut about sets, and just stick to minifigures....
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ or just do a quick search first =)

We got Galaxy Squad Vermin Vaporizer #70704 for $17.88. There was the werewolf for 50% but left that behind.

Didn't find much because I slept in. But I managed to get Bug Obliterator and Vermin Vaporizer for 70% off.

  • MathBuilderMathBuilder Member Posts: 150
@samiam391. Nothing to apologize. It is a very reasonable mistake. If I remember correctly there was a recent discusion of Monster Fighters, sets that could have made it to a second wave, etc... Most likely you were thinking about that flying dutchman. I had a hunch that binaryeye was talking about the sponge bob set because I saw it at target (once and at full RRP). The only thing that caught my attention about the set was the alternate color for the genie tail pice http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=98376&in=A otherwise, I wouldn't have any idea about the set either.
I guess if I had come across it at 50% I would have picked it up for parts but as a set for reselling I see no potential for it.

@tensor- Fastest six minutes of my life. I'm now a supporter of a longer editing time.

@graphite- As luck would have it, I stopped by Walmart after my comment and saw the set in the flesh for the first time.

My timing today has been all off..

@mathbuilder- Actually, my comment was in reference to the PotC Flying Dutchman that was rumored to be real several years ago, but never hit store shelves.

I've never liked Spongebob, and hate it even more now ;o)

Stopped by local store and found the council of Elrond set clearanced to $20. I bought the remaining three (should be enough to make the movie scene I think). I also bought the riddles for the ring set which was not on sale. I checked out and noticed as she handed me the receipt that she did not ring up the riddle set. I told her she forgot one and she just looked at it and then me and said ” don't worry about it”.

Should I go back and insist on paying for it?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ should have insisted at the time. Do you really have to ask? Telling the manager would not have been out of line either.
  • MilcheaxMilcheax Member Posts: 52
Stopped by two of my 9 closest stores.
The only things remaining on clearance between the two were the mini-creator sets and a smattering of Vampyre Hearse for 10% off.

    Everything else (clearance-wise) is gone.
  • flyernutflyernut Member Posts: 12
Just got Galaxy Squad Bug Obliterator for $24, and since there were long lines at the register a lady walked by and gave me a $3 off coupon, so $21 . Think that's my best one ever.

Managed to pick up the vampire hearse for 50% off! First time to actually find anything I wanted on clearance!
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
Found some #79104 TNMT Shellraisers for that mythical 70% off: $17.98 along with 1/2 price #9464 (MF Hearse).

Only sets my Target had left on clearance tonight were #6914 and #9463. The werewolf sets were really beaten up, and the dinosaurs were actually on a different aisle and not marked correctly. Someone seriously cleaned them out today.
  • Lego_Lord_MayorcaLego_Lord_Mayorca Member Posts: 619
By luck, I happened to swing by my Target today, and they had lots of stuff on clearance, similar to what people before me have reported (like that big Galaxy Squad set from the start of the year at $23--very nice!). However, what caught my eye was one "Battle at the Black Gate" on clearance for $41.98, much to my surprise. I quickly took advantage of it as well as the last Mirkwood Spiders set at 30% off. The Council of Elrond, however, was full price. Curious. Most curious.
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341
@Ronyar same @ mine as well. all the lego aisle was cleaned out. 3 weeks ago i saw #60008 @49.99 and none of other sets were marked down. in 3 weeks :) everything gone ... LOL.. they are still selling ghost train; scientist all at RRP. no sale on LTR or SW sets.

I saw the Battle of Black gate sets for $41 aswell but didnt pull the trigger on those. I did find a couple of sets that were "stored" behind the Mega-Blocks.... I found another Orc Forge , Avengers Quinjet, Mines of Moria and an Attack of the Wargs with the 50% off sticker but they rung up 75% off. Someone is going to be upset when they find their stash has been raided.

^ Well, that is their fault for putting them behind similar product. Hiding them behind games would be better. No one goes digging around monopoly all that often.

Oddly enough, I managed a few deals

I am impressed that folks found lego at 70% that never happens for me! I found two bug obliterators for 1/2 off. I thought $40 was good for those.
Everything else I found was small, but 50%
    Dutchman
    3 and 1 house
    Hearse

I found #70705 Bug Obliterator for $24 (70% off), #79001 Mirkwood Spiders for $15 (50% off), and The Hobbit Game for $10.50 (70% off). I had been waiting for the Hobbit Game to go to 70% and luckily found it today.

Ran into a Target today and found 3 Vampire Castles for $49, 2 Mines of Moria for $39 and a Uruk-Hai Army for $14. Pretty happy with that hall....my pocket book disagrees.
