The sales and shelf space with no sets seems suspiciously similar to Black Pearl the year prior. Should be interesting.

I got 35% off #60014 because they didn't have #79010 anymore. They said that a rain check was useless because it's being discontinued and gave me the 35% on another LEGO item as substitute.

Now do I hit the other 3-4 Targets in the area and ask as well?!

Depends on how you value your time :P
I'll be hitting another early this afternoon.

A couple Target stores around me removed the signs for the two LotR sets with reduced price, and their spots were filled by other sets. These are definitely gone. Now, last week they had Jabba's Palace for $91.00, but with no reduced price sign, and today these were gone too, and their shelf space taken by other SW sets. I believe this one is also gone, and my feeling is that this will retire sooner than a lot of people expect.

^ JP is officially (as in stated by LEGO themselves) scheduled to EOL at the end of this year.
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
I'd better be quick and get one now then! :)

Hit another Target today and was able to buy #75018 for $45.49 + tax due to them not having any more Goblin King's at $65 (35% off).

The mid-level manager I spoke to first said she could only give me 10%, but I then escalated it to the assistant store manager and she immediately agreed to give me 35% off as a substitution for the rain check.

^ My oldest son likes it and that's all that matters! He liked the first 2 episodes of Yoda Chronicles and loves the original trilogy Star Wars!

I was told today that I couldn't get a raincheck for a Goblin King because it was a temporary price cut and not a sale item. Was told that the system would not allow a raincheck to be issued for a temporary pricecut item. Anyone else had this problem?
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^No, I got one. I also got 2 for Helm's Deep. Try asking at the customer service desk if you didn't already. Give them the DPCI. I think I threw my GK raincheck away, if not I can mail it to you.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@wagnerml2 I saw Targets with the rainchecks on the shelves with Helms & Goblin markers. Seems that was the intention to me.

Still found a LOTR Pirate Ship for $30. So, they are still out there...

    On clearance?

On a related note, has anyone figured out how to price-check items using Target's mobile app (like we can with Walmart's)? Their description implies there is a way but I have yet to find it.

I do not think so, unless they updated their store app recently. When I recently tried to search for something it did not have an option to search local stores, unless someone has a crafty back way to do it via the app

One final Target trip today since the 35% off Goblin King and Ghost Train ends today (9/21). Again, substitute instead of rain check.

I let my 2 boys pick out what they wanted and we ended up with:

#79104 TMNT: The Shellraiser Street Chase - $38.99
    #70402 Castle: The Gatehouse Raid - $19.49

I tried steering them a bit towards the Fire Station and the Cargo Plane, both $99.99 and they've asked for both in the past, but they had their minds set.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,837
I would have taken the cargo plane :-)

Tried to get a rain check or substitute for the Goblin King yesterday, but the scanner showed the item as discontinued, so they wouldn't give me a substitute, and I didn't bother getting the rain check. 35% off wasn't worth making a fuss over.
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
^ Most of the time when LEGO is on clearance in my area it never lasts past 30% at Target so 35% is good for us. We grabbed 4 sets @ 35% off from 3 different Targets.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,837
I think it is all related to the price on the set, and perspective. I think many people would consider roughly 1/3 off of a set to be a pretty good deal in general.
But again it is all on if you also want that set.
If you are looking at ir solely from a reseller point of view, it may not be great if there is only one.
But if you are looking at it from a standpoint of being a collector, buying for a child or buying for someone else in mind then I would say it is a pretty good deal.

^ This. Everything is for my kids. I don't resell in general and I only have a few BIG sets for myself.

I just enjoy putting them together and playing with my 2 boys!
  • galahad2309galahad2309 Member Posts: 33
I'm not a reseller either.... I'm just cheap!

My kids and I build a ton of Lego. We've run out of space to keep/display/play with them.

Just a heads up that Target.com has 79010 for 54$ and free ship.

^ Yep...and you'd better move quickly on that one if you want it. Slickdeals front page already.

Lots of sales at Target today. All Chima 20% off. Dolphin Cruiser 20% off.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Thanks for the heads up, spent some time PM with target.com at the target CS desk but was worth it, time better spent than trying to find a deal with TRU BOGO. After 5% discount, #6860 batcave was $47.12, #6866 wolverine at $12.16. #76009 & 76004 both at $12.92

I'm pretty sure they will match. Update on the sale, it's ALL Friends, Super Heroes, Chima, Hero Factory, and Duplo 20% off. (and I see there is another thread about it..)
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Some online are more than 20%, I got PM for sold out on target.com (like the batcave)

@ColoradoBricks, sorry, I didn't understand what PM was, I get it now. :-)

^ My TG won't match the batcave due to the fact that it's OOS. They pointed me to this line item on target.com/pricematch:

    * Competitor online items must be in stock at the time a price match is requested.

And yes, target.com is considered a competitor ...

    I got #76007 for $28. It was $31.99 instore but $28 on target.com

You might want to point out to them that their website lists the items as available in-store and still lists the same price. But ya YMMV.

    I found one for $34.98

^$20 at Walmart clearance a month or so ago...
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
I'm just adding to this older thread instead of starting something new. Today (Oct 10) Target was clearancing out the #7346 Creator Seaside House for 30% off. It comes to $34.98. Not earth shattering...but I know some of you have problems finding any Lego discounts at Targets. I was also able to find 2 Gungan Subs for $17.50.
  • augenaugen Member Posts: 317
I picked up a #79010 Goblin King Battle for $54 a few days ago from Hanover, PA. It looked like a local discount.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
I was able to get one of those 3 weeks ago too for $54. It was a substitute for another set at the time. I ended up returning it cause I found 3 at a Kmart for $45. Today it was back on the shelf scanning for $99.

  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,482
They still had 3-4 of them when I left.

Interesting to note that stuff is still appearing at discount at Targets

Why is that? Anything at 50% off at Target is most likely clearance, and that varies from store to store.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,482
Keep checking your stores when you can. I just got a #9516 Jabba's Palace for $64.24 with tax. Sticker price was $95.99 with 30% off making it $67.18 plus $5 off with coupon and 5% off with redcard. That made the net discount 50% off.

^I found two A-Wings marked down to $7.48. Not a great set, but for that price it'd still a deal.

I found two sets on clearance today.... #75007 Republic Assault Ship and Coruscant Plant for $6.98 and #9447 Lasha's Bite Cycle for $12.48

Thanks for the update. I saw a Bite Cycle yesterday on an endcap but at full price. Now I'll have to check up on it. :p
