^ One of my Target's that didn't have Helm's deep out before suddenly had one (probably from being pulled weeks back) but they had the shelf marked full price. Rang up at $85 so I bought it.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I picked up one of the Helms Deep sets today. I was actually suprised to still see the same 4 sets that I saw last week. LEGO is just not a big seller in my area.

    Thanks for this head's up.

I wasn't able to find Helm's Deep, but I did pick up the Pirate ship and black gate (as well as the MF Ghost Train).
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
At mine: Goblin King is $65, Ghost Train $52, and there is now a spot for Helm's Deep (which has been gone since about March) at full price but no sets there.

^ exact same at the one I checked in Northern California
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
Same here in South Florida. I did not noticed the "NCF" in front of the SKU on the price tag, so it means that they will restock these sets. Again, it says it's a "temporary price change" or something like that.

Forget what NCF stands for but I thought it had something to do with an item that has been clearanced.

    NCF...not carried forward...meaning clearance.

Baltimore area target had black gate for $41.99 and pirate ship ambush for $69.99. Also goblin king for $65 but that's not too exciting
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
^ Which Target was this @wrangler6915?
  • psychopuppetpsychopuppet Member Posts: 71
My Target had the Ghost Train for $39.98. Picked up a second one for that price. Also picked up the Pirate ship for $69.98 and Black Gate for $41.98 . Looked like they are cleaning out the backroom of no longer stocked stuff . Then realized once I got home I forgot to see if they had the series 11 CMF's which was the reason I went.

^owings mills area. The weird thing is that they were on an end cap far away from the toys so might have to look around near sporting and home goods

@Wrangler6915 Did they have a bunch on the shelf or did you get the last ones?
Might have to drive out there later if they do!

Saw 25 ghost train at 50% and helms deep at price cut $85
  • daveace21daveace21 Member Posts: 41
I happened to be near a target today so I went in to check out the lego section. They did not have any actual sets of helms deep, but the shelf card was still there with the discounted price. I got a rep and asked if he could check if he had any more in stock. He did not and no other target stores in the area had any others...but..I kindly asked if he would give me the same percentage discount (35%) on another lego set. He said yes so I bought a constitutional train for $65.00 instead of $99.95...Not a big fan of this set but figure it could be a good set to have for the future to sell. Did i do well getting this set for this price?

Helm's are gone unless some store finds a lost one or there's a return. Found one yesterday that had been taped shut at both ends -- unusual for Target.

^My Target has 2 sitting on the shelf. They never put out the sale sign and I am convinced it's because they don't even show having that set in stock. They put the sale sign out for the MF train and Goblin attack.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
Ghost train can be had for $55 at my Target. :-) someone forgot to ride that on to clearance.
  • juggles7juggles7 Member Posts: 451
Target's website is showing Helms Deep as no longer available in stores, although it's possible there may still be a few out there. Safe to say they won't be getting anymore in the stores, I guess. So much for their month-long price cut! Like Lego offering sales on sets once they're (almost) sold out of them. What's bad about the "not available in stores" is that you can't search area stores by zip code to see if they have any.

all the 25 ghost trains at 39.98 are gone at my target.

Neat trick! Have to keep that in mind.

It's actually Target's policy to give you a rain check on an out of stock sales item. However, the rain check is good for the equivalent discount on that family/class of product. I this case, they just skipped the rain check and gave the discount for another set on the spot! Gotta love Target.. one of my favorite stores...

Yup! That way I acquired an XWing for a pretty low price - they had a big sale on a TIE Fighter (I think final price was $29.99) and were out of it BUT they had X-Wing on sale for $54.99 so the manager gave me the X-Wing for the TIE Fighter sale price :)

^I got into a heated argument with a... charming Target team member last year regarding this very thing. Since they pegged me as a savvy shopper who keeps up with sales and stock, they created (abracadabra) the policy-phrase "one time customer courtesy" to name the situation whereby I got a Batcave instead of the Podracers for 60% off. It's the kind of individually tailored and attentive customer service that makes me grind my teeth to powder. (I'm not overreacting... It's just a long story.)

So use your "one-time customer courtesy" token wisely cuz they're likely to tell you to take a flying flip at the moon next time.

I have had really good luck with my local Target. The only time I can remember getting denied was a couple of months ago when they had Helms Deep on their website for $85 but wouldnt price match in the store. I was told that they dont price match their online sale prices...only the regular price. But a month later when TRU online had a sale on the city fire plane for $20 they price matched that.

I say be happy they gave you any discount at all on another set. Being ou of stock on a sale or price cut item does not entitle you to a discount on another item. Target just wants to make the guest happy. So, therefore they may discount another same priced item. If an item is Price Cut, there are no rain checks and usually no substitutions. Sale items get a rain check unless stated otherwise. Usually they offer substitutions on Sale items. Sometimes people "abuse" this kindness and think they are entitled to discounts anytime Target is out of something. Enjoy it while you can.

Well... if you use it that often that they remember you..... well ;) I'm not surprised that they would stop "offering/honoring" it. In SoCal there's no way they'd remember me if I used it every couple months (not that I have mind you)

So I have a question about the Target rain checks. I got a raincheck for The Goblin King Battle today, was hoping they would let me use the discount for something else but no... anyway on the rain check it says that you can use it at any Target. So if that's the case then why does Target say they won't price match other Targets? I didn't have time today but tomorrow I am going to go to the store that had the sale on Helm's Deep to get a rain check to use at the store that does have Helm's Deep. Crazy.
Just reread @starfire2 's post. Maybe the sets are on price cut and I got a rain check by mistake?
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I thought it was a price cut, not a sale.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
What's the difference between a price cut and a sale anyway?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
It's all just different marketing lingo. Use different words to sound different/mix it up.

A rain check means they out of stock on a "sale" item. A rain check allows you to get that "sale" price upto 45 days after sale has ended. It also allows you to use it at another Target.
As for why Target does not price match other Target's, it's because each stores prices can vary.
The difference between a "price cut" and a "sale" is a sale is a sale (7 days/ sunday to saturday) A price cut means they aren't currently moving that merchandise at it's current price, so they price cut it to move it along before clearancing it out.

  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
If anyone could pick up a rain check for Black Gate and or the Pirate Ship for me that would be great. You can get a rain check if it was on sale but now out of stock at your store. Just go to customer service and give the these DPCI numbers- black gate-DPCI): 204-00-0745, Pirate Ship (DPCI): 204-00-0742
You should be able to request more than one rain check if you want but request it to be printed separately.

^ both these sets are on the shelves at my local target...at full price. :-)
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^Yes, which is why you need to get a raincheck from someone! :-) Anyone who's Target has the sale probably has empty shelves. And the rain check allows you to buy it on sale at ANY Target for the next 45 days.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
@margot Thanks, did not know about that. :-)
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I don't think you can get a rain check for "clearance" sticker items. The Black Gate & Pirate Ship were not put on "sale". Only Helms and Goblin King were.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^Didnt realize those were clearance, thanks,
Anyway the rain check worked perfectly on Helms Deep today.

I'm looking for Monster Fighter 9465 The Zombies If anyone finds them at Target please message me.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^Been retired for awhile. You won't get one of these sets for less than around $130.
  • sandtherapysandtherapy Member Posts: 108
    edited September 2013
@margot $130 is about the average price on eBay right now. I do however believe in the random chance of a rural Target or Walmart having an abundance of LEGO inventory.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
I believe MF #9465 The Zombies was a Target exclusive
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Yes, Zombies was a Target exclusive. It was gone as of last year. This is not going to be around within a store. Target would have clearanced it out long ago if there was any remaining stock. While a few of the other MF sets were kept at Target, that was not the case with The Zombies.

I got 35% off #60014 because they didn't have #79010 anymore. They said that a rain check was useless because it's being discontinued and gave me the 35% on another LEGO item as substitute.

Now do I hit the other 3-4 Targets in the area and ask as well?!
  • bige1998bige1998 Member Posts: 16
Found a ghost train today for $25.98 the only one they had left.

Anyone else thinking Helms Deep will be the $75 BF set this year for Target?
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
^ Nope. I am thinking the $85 sale cleared out their sets for good.
