Wow, everything is much emptier than I had also expected!

But, what do they want... 11 am on a work day, not the best time of the day to do so!

Part of the reason that it looks empty is that if you are looking on the EarthCam link...that is the back/side of the event. The stage should be around the other side of it.

@cavegod - I have no sound, I did not realise one was supposed to have sound. What camera angle are you looking from?
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
Indeed - change to the crossroads view.

Got it, looks much much normal now. I thought that was the front part of the stage, but was closed.

There is sound, the usual police sirens fron NY, I can hear them ;-)
  • BrickEnvyBrickEnvy Member Posts: 23
There should be sound. Maybe check your settings?

I have got sound now, there is a tiny icon at the bottom right corner.

They seem to be running a little late...

It even has landing gear, unlike a certain X-wing I could mention...#10240.

It has lived up to my expectations. Now who gets to pilot it home?
  • cavegodcavegod Member Posts: 811
Its not a ucs there's no display sticker
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308

Do we know what is going to happen now? I imagine we are anticipating a speech of some sort. There seems to be some kind of square platform to the left of the nose cone (from the perspective of the camera) as though somebody is going to stand on it.

Interesting fact. It was built in the Czech Republic... and transported all the way to the US.

Full size 1:1 scale X-Wing in LEGO?

:) I do believe I called it first... however I do also admit it was just a lucky guess...

Given that they said "largest LEGO model ever" and Yoda Chronicles was coming out, it had to be Star Wars based. Honestly, what else could it have been? I joked about the Falcon, but that is too large, Yoda is too small.

X-Wing it is! :) Funny that they did it based on 9493 rather than 10240.

^ I was thinking the same thing....is that telling of which model is better received?

Perhaps, or perhaps TLG knows that 10240 will sell on its own, however since the new super model is going to LEGOLand California, it will be seen by thousands of kids who can all go home and buy 9493.

    So what was the secret?
  • dragonhawkdragonhawk Member Posts: 633
Did anyone submit their guess to LEGO ? It was open for 7 year old and above (My 6 year old was not pleased). That Yoda pictured in post by @margot is the grand prize for the lucky winner.

This. Kids can relate to #9493 as its an achievable set for kids and parents more so than #10240.

It's a case of "wow I've got that" or mum can I have that?
    Mmm £50? Ok Timmy.

^^ No way I am buying that enormous X-Wing, even just for £50. Imagine how many storage bins are needed to store those bricks once Timmy gets bored with it

Sry a little back OT ..i called Lego a few days agi and used my best tactics to score one of these press kits or at least the instructions to one, durring the expected letdown the lady did hint and almost confirm this set being released as a normal set.
  • dragonhawkdragonhawk Member Posts: 633
Looking at the closeups here: http://gizmodo.com/this-incredible-full-scale-lego-x-wing-is-the-largest-m-509484787
(thanks @BooTheMightyHamster ). Apparently you can sit in the cockpit.

Any guess how many people in orange jumpsuits and Rebel Alliance helmets already lining up to take pictures in it ?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Apparently you can sit on the engines without them breaking off. Guess the comment in the article about LEGO designing it to withstand the multiple breakdowns and moves was accurate.
