Wanted to ask you all if anybody know if the great theme PIRATES will be relanched, I know that it was 2 years ago and still Flagship is in stores( which I bought recently and now my girlfriend wants to kill me).

I'm interested only in the Pirate ships, anybody have some for sale?
Mostly i would be grateful for the latest pirate ship BRICKBEARDS BOUNTY 6243. In shops it was for £60 now on ebay its quite high and I'm not capable to spend so much.

regards,
and good to find such a nice forum !

I think Pirates is on hold due to the Pirates of the Caribbean line being out. PoTC does have the Queen Anne's Revenge and will likely have the Black Pearl and others.

Yea this newest re release of the pirates had a long gap before the last pirate themes.

Pirates are my favorite theme, they both put me into my dark ages and brought me out, I went into dark ages because they were my favorite theme and I realized they would not release any for a LONG time, then randomly I saw in a catalog (that my little sister was still receiving) that they were releasing the Imperial Flagship, well that brought me out of my dark ages.

I assume pirates will be on hold for at least 5 years (just a random guess), maybe even more if they continue making PotC sets. I think it would be pretty hard to market both sets at the same time.

I too am a huge Pirate ship collector, I suggesting looking at bricklink and getting a base price for the ship or ships your looking for and then look at ebay. I did a lot of stalking on ebay before I would buy any ship, usually watched items list and sell for around a month and then get an idea of what my max bids would be, if they consistently sell higher than bricklink (not often in my experience) go with bricklink. If not try to win a auction on ebay with that in mind. Pay close attention to the figs tho, for me I really wanted to get 100% complete sets, but some people don't know what figs go with what ship and that can be a problem with some vintage sets that have rare figs. So look closely and look for what I called "deal breakers" Such as missing pieces that are rare (the jolley roger brick on Skull's eye schooner, yellow bird on Caribbean clipper, etc.) you may think you're getting a good deal on the ship as a whole, but if its missing those kind of pieces it may be hard to get and could run up your bill getting them from bricklink.

Sorry if I spilled too much info, its not often I get to talk about Lego Pirate ships. Like I said they're my favorite sets, and myself have been working to collect the 10 pirate theme ships (excluding PotC).

I think they'll have a break after POTC theme ends, releasing another Pirates theme straight after POTC would be very difficult to match the same hype and recognition that POTC has. I'd actually like them to produce more civilian lines, like a merchant ship that the pirates can capture, after all, that was their business, not fighting the Imperials!

what do you mean by dark ages? castle?
Yeah thats what im planning to do, I bought Imperial Flagship for £108 on ebay plus shipping which was in total £130 i think on pixmania in total set with shipping goes for 120 so its still not too bad,
I bought Black seas Barracuda for £80 pounds but it was not in perfect condition.
I really like big sets, but unfortunetly Lego is very expensive hobby ;)

@nerick906 Dark Ages = the period of time you 'went away' from lego.
See here for a helpful list of terminology you'll find when re-entering the hobby!

The ships are expensive, they dipped due to the re-release of the Pirate line a few years ago but prices are starting to creep back up.. I think partly due to people who may not like the pirate line per se, but love the ships. I have an Imperial trading post in pieces in a lot I need to reconstruct. I do like the pirate line and have owned every pirate ship (and maybe every other pirate set) except the Red Beard Runner and the White and Blue one (can never remember that name) and they are all beautiful sets.. a pain to build AND take apart and the sails can be a pain to find or really expensive. (as yyrs4u noted above). I just like the designs with the little torches and what not in the walls and the castle panel wiht red rock.. just neat little sets. Eldorado Fortress is a fav of mine as well as the Imperial trading post and the Black Seas Barracuda, Skull Eye Schooner is amazing but getting expensive

There's smaller ships that don't cost that much and are pretty abundant on ebay. The Renegade Runner is one, its a one cannon ship but it goes for around 50 USD i think? I don't remember I bought that one a long time ago. The Caribbean Clipper is a meduim ship that's actually become one of my favorites, especially because of the minifigs. And it has an anchor which is cool to see on a ship of that size. But that's one of those ships I'd suggest stalking on ebay cause the price on those can vary and you don't want to over pay. But I love it because its smaller and thus cheaper, but it still has 2 cannons and 3 sails so it looks like more like a larger ship. (For comparison; The renegade runner and cross bone clipper are small ships that LOOK like small ships)
